Carl Jackson here. I've been climbing about six years now. I was stuck to a climbing wall every day for my first few months of climbing. After that I tried rock and it went really well. I have a total of 65 successes in 67 atempts on Gecko and the Dustbuster in Bloemfontein. This being noted just because it is a personal favourite. Personal problems caused me to slack after that. Back in the game now and although our bouldering cave closed down I have joined a gym which boasts a great climbing wall. My climbing improved from a limp 16 in 2000 to about 22 (South Africa) or 5.10c (USA) now.
Roby Roderick, who is/was the midwest administrator on rockclimbing.com, visited me in South Africa in 2001 and we had the most amazing time climbing and camping together. My other hobby is herpetology (keeping and breeding rare/endangered and exotic snakes).

I am very in touch with the Free State climbing community. I can get anyone to climbing/camping stores as well as local crags.
