Axis Rope Review 5 out of 5 stars

Review by: jay2817, 2009-01-23

Great rope. I use it on traditional routes mostly in Southern California. It resists abrasion and has not frayed after 2 years. I was only about $130. I just purchased another, since it was on sale. Perfect compromise between durability, handling, and weight for all-around climbing.

Had it 2 years 5 out of 5 stars

It's a heavy stiff rope. Edelweiss doesn't exactly keep that a secret. But it broke in quite nicely after the first couple of uses and even using the 2nd gen. Reverso (which tends to be a bit abrasive to ropes) has practicly no sheath wear. Lot's of top roping and a few solid lead falls and I've never had any problems with twisting or kinking (even after rapping off 8's and belaying with munter's). I've been very happy with this rope.

Have used others ropes, but this is MY first one. Got for $100 in the 50m length. Smooth and strong, catches just like friends Petzl and feels the same. A little more drag then a similar width Sterling. I wish it had a center mark as the rope is shorter and could be an issue more often...using for top rope, and lead in gym. Does what it needs to.

I have to agree with some others that it is twisty prone. Don't know why, it doesn't make any sense. Used enough and use proper rope care...not a big deal though, just something I noticed, doesn't bother me one bit.

Rope just works and good price, would like a bi-color/weave for next rope.

Good rope 4 out of 5 stars

Also my first rope, picked it up onsale at gearexpress. It works well, and I haven't had any problems in it kinking. It does feel a little stiff, and it has fuzzed up a little bit more than I'd like. Overall, it's a pretty average rope, got it for a good price though.

Decent rope 4 out of 5 stars

I've had my rope for a year and half, and have taken it on several trips around the country. Ranging from kentucky to wyoming. Each time i pulled it out and used it, it's been an awesome rope, supple and smooth since day one.
