The Climb

You should also read The Climb by Anatoliy Boukreev, the so called "evil Russian" to hear his side of the story. In 1996 he was the recipient of the David A. Sowles Memorial Award, the American Alpine Club's highest award for valour for his role in rescuing climbers in the 1996 Everest disaster
One of the best books I've ever read

Jon did it really well. I am a slow reader, and although like to read books, can't go over an hour on each try. But, I simply could not put this book down. Everything has been described clearly in the book, and makes you feel you were right there. It was not a happy ending of course.
In this book, Beck is my man. I wish I could meet him one day.

I've never looked at this book, which is one of my personal favorites, as a mountaineering book. Into Thin Air is a book about what people do when they're cold and tired. It's a great read, a must read if you ever consider climbing anything high.

Excellent story by an excellent writer. Good info on what NOT to do also! I read this book alone, in the dark with only a headlamp and the effect was really cool!

a great book, not only because of the adventure it tells of, but also because Krakauer is such a great author. i have all of his books, they're great!
