Review 5 out of 5 stars

I've used my Myo3 for a lot of different things other than climbing/approach. The led setting is extremely useful and more than enough for most things. When the leds won't do, the halogen bulb does the trick.

The adjustable angle of the beam has been nice too, sometimes you need the light low rather than pointing out when doing work outside in the dark.

I love this thing. I use it all the time, esp. when making my way from the crag to the car at night, and when hanging out at the campsite. I actually got use out of it during a blackout we had!!! The xenon comes in handy when running through the approach trail when the l.e.d's just don't cut it.

The Good: The bomb for rapping in the dark and other nocturnal mayhem. Light weight. Solid battery compartment.

The Bad: Sometimes it would turn on in my pack. This happened too often. Battery compartment is a real pain to open.

The Verdict: I eventually lost it and have replaced it with a BD. Mostly because of weight. Better than any headlamp I had previously owned. I know that I am going to miss that halogen, but light(weight)=right.

I have the myo 3 belt, it takes the weight off your head and you just hook the battery pack to your belt which helps preserve the battery life in cold weather which is a big plus for ice climbing and winter sports. 4 AA batteries are easy to find compared to other headlamp batteries. All in all I like it a lot.

This lamp is really good. I just got one for Christmas and wow, what a neat lamp! If you're on the market for a new lamp, go for this one. It's got a Xenon bulb and 3 LED bulbs which makes it handy since you can do some long distance searching but the LED blubs make it good for walking and working with your junk in the tent (short distance lighting) since you don't burn the batteries as quickly. Also, it uses 4 AA Batteries so you don't have to look all over the world for those impossible little camera batteries. The only draw back I can think of would be the weight. But the suspension system is pretty well done (but it looks like you're wearing a thong on your head...). I like it. Oh, it's water/snow resistant as well! That's a good feature since I live in South East Alaska and it rains all the time.
