Ok the Slim-Gym...Hmmmm.

First of all this is an edited review, as my first one reflected my initial feelings and after using this board, I feel differently. I do own this board and have used it on and off for a few years.

Regarding the texture, it is Metolius’ standard feel. It is gritty, grippy, and not too horrible on your skin. I like the feel.

As for the holds, what you see is what you get. I think that the jugs are perfectly shaped for things like pull-ups, as you can pretty much hang on them forever, and they feel good on the hands. The slopers are good, but if you use them consistently, will start to get easy. The big 3 finger pockets get easy after a while, as do the 2 finger pockets. Unless you are a gnome or something and have very narrow shoulders; I don’t see the reason for the center 3 finger pocket. The edge at the bottom will probably be too tough for beginners to use without removing weight, but is probably the best strength building hold on the board.

Also, the thoughts about buying this since you are on a budget and have limited space don’t really hold up anymore. There are many more boards on the market now, and you can get a comparably sized board with far more holds for a few bucks more. At $50, this board isn’t exactly “cheap” and you can get something with more variety for $15 dollars (or less) more. If the 15 bones is really an issue, I would have to recommend holding out just a little while longer so that you can save that $15 and not regret your purchase.

All this said, I don’t think the board is exactly terrible, but if you are seriously looking to employ a training regimen on a hangboard with the goal of getting strong, I don’t think this is the ticket. If you are looking for something to do pull-ups on, and get in a hang here and there, then you may be satisfied with this board.

Pretty decent board especially if you are on a budget or don't have a lot of space. THis is the first board that i bought but i have used the simluator before. I liked the simulator because there was a little more to the board. But this one has allt he basics. The jugs are nice along with the center 3 finger hold and jug. I have it in my dorm room and it basically does what i want. No bells or whistles with it. Overall i would recommend this board.
