I have noticed one other thing that makes the tech-friends a better deal. The tech-friends have anodized cams, which makes it easier to locate the size you want. The flex cams have color coded slings, however they don't contrast enough.

I have all but the largest size (black).
They are an all around great cam. Mine are from the pre cam stops era. The only one I have fallen on was the smallest sized and it popped when the rock crumbled and the lobes inverted. I find that the smallest two sizes don't fit very well, either. The springs are a little weak on the largest sizes, but nothing serious. The loop on the end makes them easy to place, although the trigger bars on the smallest sizes are a bit small. They don't tangle up like many camming units do.
On the two sizes I have that have the extendible slings, I rarely bother to extend them. Either it needs a full runner on it or it doesn't.
I would not have a full enough rack to climb on without these units. For a climber on a budget, it is hard to beat these.

I just have the #8 (the biggest one), and it wobbles quite a bit. Its just to narrow for its size (up to about 3 inches). I hear good things about the smaller sizes.

These cams are nice to have around, they get the job done. The olbes could have used a little more thought though. They bend back and get in the way if the cam walks itself really deep and I almost lost my #4 due to this feature. The #8 isn't that stable, it's got a narrow head width or something that causes it to wiggle more than I'd like. The smaller sizes aren't as good as Aliens and the bigger sizes aren't that stable (well, only the #8). Would I buy them again? Only the #5, 6 and maybe 7. I'm going to keep using them until I replace them then I'll hand them off to a buddy of mine or sell them on e-bay or something. They're good average cams. They don't suck but they don't excell either.
