Nice but smelly shoe 4 out of 5 stars

Review by: absoluto, 2007-11-15

I bought this shoes one month ago. They perform really well and the rubber sticks fine. I wear a 9 1/2 in street shoes and get an 8 in Evolv's. Fine and precise performance in this size but certainly not confortable and not to much flexible. For begginers I recomend a little bigger ones, due precision is not always required for basic moves. Nice shoe overall, the only problem is some weird smell. It is not the typical feet smell, is a different and stronger one that smells like hell.

I have climbed more 5.12's in these shoes than anything else I own.

If you are unable to make them stick, look at yourself for fault, the shoes are blameless.

I bought this through the local gym. They are comfortable - after a minute or two I forget I am wearing them, which is great for my 14-wide foot. However, the friction is not that great. Smearing is more like sliding. Edging is not that precise. This is basically a gym shoe. I am looking for something else for real rock.
[edit Sept 2005] It seems like the rubber takes a while to break in... the stickiness factor has definately gone up after being used a bit.
I will say again that they are very comfortable, and I wear these on long days.
