This shoes are good, but I almost want to rate them lower because the velcro Anastazi and the Evolve Kaos do such a better job. Once again, Five Ten has introduced "dime-edge" technology, which is nothing more than a fancy way of saying that they made the toe portion stiffer and thicker. I wore these for 3 months while my Antastazi's were off for repair, and these never performed up to their level; however they were good performers overall and I have no major complaints. They are less stiff than the Southwest, which is good, but you could spend your money better elsewhere. If you can get these shoes for a cheap price, I would go for it, but there is no way they're worth close to $140. They come sized very very small... you'll need to buy at least one half size larger, and possibly even a whole size, depending upon the width of your foot.

This shoe is nothing more than adequate. Five Ten is attempting to cater to hard core sport climbers who must stand on dime edges, but their Anastazi Velcro does a much better job than the Southwest. Simply making the shoe stiffer and giving it a squared-off edge won't make it a better shoe. Come on guys! The only thing this shoe does well is protect your toes. Otherwise it is highly highly overpriced. Your money would be better spent on an Evolve Kaos.

This thing is absolutely great. We bought it for 6 year old son a year ago and he thinks its the coolest thing in the world. Its got a line to attach a chalk bag and a mesh bag to put it in after he's finished. Its rated from 35-90 pounds, so your child can wear this practically all his youth until he grows into an adult harness. Great product. (For top-roping only!)

Absolutely the best shoe on the market. Five Ten has tried to make a shoe that succeeds at all facets of climbing, and has been 90% successful. They smear, edge, and heel hook supremely well. These shoes will stretch anywhere from half a size to a full size, depending upon how sweaty your feet are. ;-) Check out my full comparison with the Evolve Kaos at:

A great edging shoe, but not designed for all-purpose use. You can see my full review at http://people.clemson.edu/~beamer/kaos.htm
