I would rate these at a 5 however these suckers have next to no support/padding. That being said they edge well for an approach shoe and climb pretty damn hard. I've had issues with how thing the rubber is however...jumping off anything higher than about 3 feet does NOT feel good. They will stick to damn near anything however. In a way they are better smearing shoes than anything else due to the fact that you can flex the shoe so it has maximal contact with the rock. If you get onto any kind of sharp stuff however I've always been afraid they are going to shred right through these. I also take issue with how many rocks you pick up inside these things. Low ankles don't make for good scrambling in scree shoes. They do weigh next to nothing however so that is rather nice!

A great beginner tool into the world of leashless climbing. Been climbing on it one season now and have loved it. Mixed/ice it goes anywhere. The picks are hard and thin and seem to stick in most things. The reason I give it a 4 vs a 5 is because of the weight. This sucker is heavy. The cost though is very cheap...you can buy 2 tools for the price of one of the others! I like these tools a lot!

I've been pretty pleased with my Sabertooths. Do vertical ice pretty well and hike pretty well (if you have the ABS plates). I use the step in attachment style and they always feel very solid on my foot. Easy to attach and keep a point. I would suggest these to anyone getting into alpine/ice!

Heavy but damn. They tear through anything you throw at them. I keep one in the back of my truck for when I go back to the ice climbing on a very snowy road. This puppy gets me unstuck everytime. Kinda expensive but worth the price.

Had mine for about a year. Love it to death..in test burials I always find the "victim" first with this beacon vs. others. Highly recommended!
