The Monument

The Monument

This monster lives on a bluff overlooking the Georgian Bay, with Lions Head in the distance. Easy but chossy climbing leads to the hand/fist crack that pinches down to fingers just before the lip. Unfortunately it seeps most of the season generally drying out around August.

I really don't see how anything you can fit your whole hand in is harder than 5.9+ or 5.10a, tops.

Yeah Camhead, offwidths that swallow your whole body should probably be rated no harder than 5.5 huh? Sick pic, bold and beautiful!

Getting good pics of this route is extremely difficult. The roof is so big it creates some heinous lighting conditions.

We have a pile of other pics but this one turned out the best of all the side shots. I just wanted to get one up on here that showed the whole route.

is the gear on that pre posistioned? looks like there are 2 draws hanging down... one about 8 feet form the climber and the other after it gets vertical.

In that pic there is a cam near the lip. It was a dogging piece used for cleaning. The other is the tat anchor. This picture is from an earlier redpoint attempt.

I'll bet its that fingers finish that makes it 12c. If it went hands through the lip, it'd be a pretty rad 5.7.

This roof is almost as long as it is off the ground! Makes for an amazing setting. Worth the 10-15 min hike from the main climbing area just to see it.
