As a photo, it doesn't work for me. My eyes can't find anything to settle on.
Hmmm, see I find that the climber is the one constant in all the chaos, but I kind of like that kind of photo - where the eye has to work to find action. I can sympathize with your comment, though.
people might complain about the visible rack and bundled rope. personally, i like it, especially for the visual depth. the problem for me is that the climber, the subject, is exact center. i'd like to see him more at the right edge of the frame, seemingly climbing to the center.
good point. I actually try to do a guttenberg (sp?) diagonal when taking photos, so that's why the junk is in the photo, but that doesn't help that the climber is dead center with nothing of substance down to the right.
