Offwidth Training

A personal favorite, a fun grunter, actually this route is where I took my first trad whip. Lightrack shows me the way. Fall 2003

I really like this, but I think I would find it a bit less disorienting if it was rotated so that the belayer was oriented vertical from me. But then that might take away something too...who knows.

I like the aspect ratio of this shot, you would expect it to be the other way, but it doesnt seemed cramped at all. Nice.

Nice chicken wing. It’s always easy, when sitting at a desk, to think, “gosh, I want to become an off-width expert.” Until, of course, it comes time to actually doing it.

Offwidths are one of the only places that you employ such graceful moves as the, "face smear", "the forehead mantle" (on exit), and the classic "one-cheek butt latch". Offwidths are awesome though.. especially if it's someone else leading them, because they tend to cause "crack rash" and profuse bleeding.
Nice Pic though :) and no blood?
