Styling that last pitch on The Daddy
Here's my friend Katherine on the last pitch of The Daddy. I got this shot with emilb's camera as Kat finished up in the perfect light of sunset.

looks grungy, but a cool shot none the less.
Looks grungy, but it's pretty clean as it's one of the most-done routes in Linville.
I'd follow that lead for darn sure. What's the route rated? I'm planning on Linville in the spring.
The route is 5.6 and really fun. Once above the trees, there are great views of the gorge, including Shortoff, and the Gold Coast. Depending on how comfortable you are, you may want a couple bigger pieces for the first pitch. Most of the route, however, protects with stoppers and a few medium cams. There are lots of fun options for combining pitches, simul-climbing and variations. This final pitch is the payoff. I like that I caught her in mid reach.
Last pitch "at sunset"? Isn't it an hour hike out? Guess you guys knew the trail pretty darn well to do it in the dark. :-) Nice shot, makes me wish I could go back and do it again!
route looks like a real adventure!
Gotta pack a head lamp for Linville. It was full on dark by the time we got to the car, but sipping beer in the dark is easy.
