Land of Oz
This was a beautiful sunny Sunday down in the Land of Oz - it was towards the end of September. Who knew it could be this nice that time of year?

Jon is a pretty good photographer... he's great at getting the angle and lighting just right - especially in nature...
hey, nice pic adelicious! mark your calendar - easter time!!!!!
I'll buck the bandwagon. I really don't like this photo. First, it takes a great angle/lighting/color to make a lowball photoliscious - this just doesn't cut it. Second, I can really only see the right foot (the other attachments to the rock are partially covered) so the photo becomes a commentary on footwork. That in and of itself isn't that bad if the climber is 20 feet off the deck and hence the placment of the foot adds drama, but here, because I can't see if those are jugs and the fall is a mere 4" I'm really uninterested. I'm not saying this is the worst photo ever or even a bad photo, it's just average and doesn't tell a compelling story.
sidepull are you dumb and stupid there are two feet in the pic and both are on the rock so what if shes on jugs.for all we know its a v9. nice photo dude look at her face while placing that foot.nice shot
Why is sidepull "dumb and stupid?" His points have merit. I think it's technically a very nice photo myself, but he's right, drama isn't a huge factor in this scene. He would have been more impressed if the scene were more dramatic. But so? That's his opinion.
wyt91t - is your knee-jerk response a result of regionalism or was I just unclear? I'm interested in the aesthetics of the photo, not the subject. Yes, the climber has two feet (and two hands) but the angle obscures the points of contact of everything except for one foot (note that you can't really see the toe of the left foot). In the end I don't care if it's v9 or -v9 - when you can't see the points of contact it's difficult to tell and it ruins the drama of the send. For me, it's just an average shot - and there's nothing disrespectful about that.
I agree that sidepull's comments have merits, though I personally feel more highly of the picture. It's not dramatic, but the colors, lighting, and setting say a lot more to me about what it is to climb (cliche, and certainly no one picture completely sums up what it is 'to climb,' but it's difficult to express my feelings otherwise)...A beautiful day outdoors, surrounded by trees and rock, just having a good time, regardless of the difficulty here.
You guys have nothing better to do than argue over a silly photo of me? It wasn't meant to used in an ad or be submitted for the cover of a magazine or anything... it's just us being silly having fun on a September weekend enjoying the remains of some unexpected summer weather in our free time! Geesh! You're all entitled to your opinions, but please enough bickering with each other! If you really want to know I can only climb up to about v3 at the moment.... but I was not under the impression I had to impress anyone... can't climbing just be fun?
Amen sista! i like it.
This girl is climbing! She is focused on her foot placement, climbing around her limit and having fun! Whats to argue about! She's pirty too.
