Its limestone. The rock quality is very diverse. There is a lot wery hard rock and a lot of loose flakes and choss. Usually before a FA is made a few days of cleaning the route is required. If they routes do not get cleaned well then they usually do not see repeat ascents.

For the most part the rock is solid. There tends to be a layer or exoskeleton of rock from 1mm to a few cm thick over the rock. This layer often peels off and the underlying rock is usually the most solid.

This area does not see much rain either so the rock isn't water washed like most area in the world. You will find areas with smooth rock but a lot of effort goes into finding these areas. The majority of the rock is sharp and rough.

All in all it makes for interesting and unique climbing.
