The cracks won't take much gear. The route was originally lead on two bolts, one pin (stole by some wanker) and a couple pieces of gear (the seemingly gear eating cracks in the photo won't take any) but was retroed by the F.A. because for one the gear sucked, two what gear you get goes into the crux holds, and three the gear was eating at the sandstone. On a lighter note Whiskey is a strong contender for best route in the state. A must do if you're capable.
I'll say back in the day!
If it wasn't for winter coming on fast fall would be my favorite time of year. Sweet photo!
I think if he tweeked his prep a bit it could be 13+/14- :)
It's understandable that you put the grade with a route photo. Someone says, "WOW, what a killer line! I wonder if I could do it." and then they say, "Oh it's 5. blah, blah, blah, I'll have to try it when I go to Crag So and Such. " or "Damn! I'll have to be in better shape before I can try that route.". The "13's" part just seems out of context. Route grade doesn't matter without the route. It just sounds like needless spray, which many people like to pick on. Don't take it personally, I didn't mean to offend. It's not you or your picture I was poking fun at. It was aimed at what seemed to me as needless spray.
Ouch!!! I sure wish I could have named it Sausage Skinner. But if I would have got the F.A. my fingers would have still been okay.
It's out in the woods!
Holy crap! I can't believe you soloed that!
Where the hell?
How could I tell that was at the Lake before reading it was?
It was nice to see a different pic on the front page for once.
TR'd it with a small bit of tention here and there.
It would be a really good pic if he wasn't hanging. The morning light is great on Steve's Arete.
Please!!!!! That's far from a butt shot.
What a great warm up it was!!!!!!! Nothing like liftin' a 40 to get your blood moving.
Mmmmmmm, Tasty chocolate rock! Cool pic.
I think more B ish. Not to bad if you crop out the ground clutter.
John and his damn big head.
There are a few jams here and there. The crack leans more than it shows, so in many places it's easier to grab the lip than to use the offsize jams. It's also steeper than it looks. The wall overhangs about 6 feet in 55 or 60.
Like, I have a big set of small nuts? I have big nuts too. As for the really big nuts, they are aren't as useful as they seem.
Chopping does more damage to the rock than leaving them. The route is far from over bolted and would be a waste of precious climbable rock if it wasn't bolted. The bolts didn't detract from the gear lead for me one bit. If you don't like em don't clip em.
Cool pic, I kinda wish I would have went back to the Hills with all of you. It rained all day at the Tower.
You need to stop posting all these great pictures from your day in the Needles, I'm kicking myself for not going with.
That crack seems a lot longer in real life. The Tower is so good!
Who is this Nathan fellow you were climbing with while we were at Josh?!!!!!!!! :)
Is that Chris madly clicking away in the back ground?
Merrick made more than one attempt. ;)
Are you locking off, or just happy to see me?
It was dry when we were there. The top out is a bit spooky. It's a great problem other than the bad rock.
I can't believe you are posting pictures of my nuts all over the internet!
He must just look higher up than he really is, the water looks like it's far below.
They probably are. Those are John's feet, he's a bit of an odd ball.
I know Frank and I bet he didn't walk up WBM, he flew up it, placing about three pieces on the way.
You should see her when she has both our racks put together. It's huge!
It would be better if you could see her face.
It was snowing the time I went there too!
Wet on sandstone. Not good
Cool picture Frank. Is that one of the new lost boys?
Cool, I'd say it's much better than the 7 it was rated.
Nice photo. It could be a lot better if the lighting was better.
Nice action, but the lighting could be better.
This would be a really good pic if it didn't look so washed.
My favorite thing about this pic are the draws that still have price tags on them. Hehehe!
That place hardley looks the same.
Hey, that was an onsight! Fun route, the picture doesn't show how steep it really is though.
I really love that pic. You should crop out the hat and try to resize it so it isn't so grainy, then resubmit it.
Way too grainy.
Could be the Reserve?
My that's a big dick...looking rock.
The only thing more mean than making the obvious comments, is giving this photo a high enough rating that it can be on the front page for everyone to see, so they can write there own rude comments.
Not to be mean, but. Honestly Brent, who are you trying to fool with this pic? You are a much better photographer than this. Where are all your other photos? I thought it felt harder too.
Nice shot Matt.
Stopped action, mad detemination on the climbers face, I love it! A photo like this makes me think,"Damn I wanna do that route", even though I've never even been to Maine. If the lighting was a little better and it was a touch clearer, it would be a super solid photo.
Looks like she tripped.
Oh come on overlord. Where is your gay pride?
Almost seems a little over used but, WOW!!
I think the end table in the lower right corner more than justifies the helmet.
Nice photo, the tree tops are a little distracting though.
You two must play a lot of Twister! The way her arm is, just looks wrong. Nice photo!
Excellent photo Jay
Wait a minute! You can't fast-twitch with a daisy chain attached to your harness! This photo has to be posed!
Is that Aaron fast twitching?
doaner is right, they do look mean! Like they are going to bang the crap out of each other. Hehehe!
They are flared seams.
The black dots are vultures, not crusties on the lens.
Nice photo. Was it his first time using double roes?
Nice lighting on the mt. but the foreground is way to busy.
You have some really nice photos.
You've been to some beautiful places.
This photo seems to be getting mixed reviews. Some people really like it, and others not so much.
I resized and resubmitted this photo. I think this one is a little better quality.
Interesting photo, but there seems to be something missing. Can't quite put my finger on it though.
You beat me. Fixing my femur topped out around $15,000. And it wasn't even climbing related. Though I do have a bigger piece of hardware, but not as much. I don't like this game, I keep losing.
I second the yodel comment!
I wish I was on the road right now! I've been sorting through a lot of photos lately. This pic and the photo of "Lord of the Flies" are from this year.
This pic makes me laugh my ass off! The porstache really ties the pic together.
I'm pretty sure she has something well worth protecting under that helmet. To bad so many other people don't see it that way. Why does someone wearing a helmet make a picture bad? I wear a helmet a lot of the time. I've also not worn a helmet when I normally would, because it was for a professional photo shoot. Why? Because helmets are dorky, and who wants to buy a photo of some dork wearing a helmet? I happen to love this photo just the way it is.
Sorry, I couldn't help it. You look so hardcore I had to show the world! I was going to go back and edit the credits cause I forgot, but I'll leave it as is now. Besides, if you would have posted up to begin with I wouldn't have need to take the drastic measures I did!
You have pics of me looking :robert:. Though this one shows the route much better.
If he did the overhangng face opposite the river I thought it was 10+/11-.
Where's the climber? That's a great route and its super photogenic. Get a climber on there an you'll have a great shot.
Yeah, I can make any route look good can't I?
I love that helmet. It may be the reason she is still alive.
Yeah J, the start of Carol's Crack is straight above her head and like G said two cracks over where it leaves the pic. We actually climbed the 1st pitch of Oneway Sunset, then left into Cali. Dreaming. And up, up, up to the top. I'd actually been dreaming of trying this line since the time we met out there.
Actually there are more shoes too.
I saw this on the FP and I wasn't going to vote it very high until I saw the title! Hamm Sammies!
Is that all three in a day?
10 minutes. Does that include running between the routes?
Nice picture but it looks rather pixelated.
Not the best photo, but the comment is pretty good.
Maybe you should resubmit it.
If she fell that would be known as ass flossing.
Oh Biner, You are so easily entertained. LOL
Is it just me, or does this pic remind anyone else of the "Gollum" pic?
I thought it made for a better story. Doesn't it?
YES!!! It looks like you just you just got done killing someone. Is that blood on your shirt?!?!?!
Yea!!! Biner has a new profile pic!!!
No PS. Just a shitty camera.
Nice pic Biner.
That's pretty slabby for 12b.
Contrived? It looks like a pretty strong line to me.
Nice shot, the pads are a little distracting though.
Hey Crag, what's up with all the grass? Is Brenden climbing a sidewalk?
Don't be H8rz!!!!11
Wow!! That was a hot action sequence!!!
He will be missed.
Jeffer, were you drunk when you typed that? :p
And yes, I sent. After numerous meatbombz.
That is The Monument. It is around 30 feet of nearly horizontal crack climbing on the Bruce Peninsula in Ontario.
There are a few more pics here:
Getting good pics of this route is extremely difficult. The roof is so big it creates some heinous lighting conditions.
We have a pile of other pics but this one turned out the best of all the side shots. I just wanted to get one up on here that showed the whole route.
In that pic there is a cam near the lip. It was a dogging piece used for cleaning. The other is the tat anchor. This picture is from an earlier redpoint attempt.
I think it is great that the center piece of the last profile pic is also in this picture.
No kidding. Nobody but the misinformed call it 12c.
Great photo but the quality is really bad.
Also did you scan this? It looks like there is a pube just right of the climber.
Sure looks like Bow Lake.
Is he jamming his foot in a crack???? Off root!!!!!!
Its Bow Lake not Bass Lake. Its near Bancroft. It is nowhere near Kingston.
True rock studs don't need helmets cause they are HARDCORE!!!!11! and have hard heads!!!!
How could it be chopped? It was never bolted.
Nice ripoff using Google. At least you were honest about it, but it should still be taken down.
Once you get past the exploding holds at the start it was pretty easy. I think I like the original photo without the blur a little better.
Cool concept, but the photos used could be way better.
Cool concept, too bad about the powerline and the hazy mts.
Its not the name. It might be a good one for future use though.
WTF? This is still a climbing site isn't it?
I hope you are going to write about what a bad idea that is since they need to be recessed.
They were doing that to keep the glue in the hole and the bolt in place on steep rock.
Cool. I don't know about the halo effect though.
You should have some gearz in the picture too.
Fuck the world? That would just be silly.
You gave yourself 5 stars on a out of focus ass shot?
That's bad ass.
Did you send? Posting pics of yourself on roots you haven't sent is a kiss of death.
Um..... I don't see any berries. Not that I'm looking, but it is hard not to notice.
What about the tags? I even put "cowbells" in there!!
WTF? Those colors are trademarked!!!
I like to think of mine as a 1:2 ratio, so its probably okay.
Heh.. No, this was before that. We did quite a few new routes this winter.
I did say it was S.Ontario. Isn't that enough? It is S.Ontario after all, we need to preserve what we have. That place is right next to the road and everyone already knows about it. Its has had access issues in the past which are straightened out for time being. No need to add fuel to the fire.
The ice on the left wasn't climbable. It barely touched down and would have just fallen apart. The rock wasn't that hard.
The bottom was really bad. I probably would have onsighted it except the holds kept falling off or exploding. Up higher I didn't find the rock as bad. It was a cool route otherwise.
I really must be missing something.
A small person on a big wall? I've seen it 100 times, in pictures that aren't over and underexposed and create some sort of feeling. I guess it does create some sort of feeling for a number of people. I just don't see it myself.
Posting other peoples photos you ripped off the net is bad juju. This would be much more appropriately made into a thread where you could have just linked the photo.
heh..... could be Jenna's crack. He does seem lost in it, whatever it is he spotted.
Great profile pic Randal.
The exposure on that thing is pretty intense. Its not like that thing is only 30 feet tall like it looks in the photo.
No rockin' tags? How ghey.
