this is a great shot of this problem, will.
i'm with mother_sheep...
where are the trees? never seen a boulder area with no treeses....
dan is my hero. and a sexy hero he is...
hehe, dan, i am droolin to get those pics back. you are a rockin photographer. see you at the new!
i'm not :P
at the risk of asking a stupid question... why does it look so pointy? is that just the way it broke? It is certainly a wicked picture, though; hope your foot gets better!
yeah, so this is one of the coolest pics i've seen yet on this site. many kudos.
ook, so 11:00 pm timestamp on that. in broad daylight. you *do* live in alaska ;)
yeah, it's a jelly bracelet. it's a broken remnant haunting my chalk bag, now, though.
am i missing something or is there a rope in this picture? 'cause i can't find one-- but she *is* wearing a harness. was it photoshopped out? is she soloing? am i blind? do tell.
freech of nakor
waking life= trippiest movie ever.
this= way cool image. good job.
I like how its not just spectral, like some pics come out when you saturate them, but that it retains really interesting contrasts. I like it.
haha, yeah, rangertau, i told dan no more pictures of me on toprope. i like this one a lot, even though i'm not sure you really get the whole effect of the strings of fear-induced explitives proceeding from my mouth immediatly prior to the picture.
lol... that's an orange shirt on under my hoodie, dingus, if that's what you were referring to.
topic hashed out extensively http://www.rockclimbing.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=83170&postdays=0&postorder=asc&topic_view=&start=0
hehehe ya know what i just noticed, dan? the orange bracelet i'm wearing in the other picture, that i keep in my chalkbag-- you can actually see it in the bag in this picture. awesome sauce.
kalcario=ass, on a pretty consistent basis. adam, you rock, wish i'd come to the red. [not totally, i had fun at horsepens but still.] dan, another good photo, congrats.
and this used to only happen when i went snowboarding. for the next shoot, dan, you'll have to tell me in advance so i can put on makeup and short shorts and then everybody will be able to tell. :P
what i really like about this nice "trad" pic are the anasazi velcros. a tru trad shoe.
i cant rem if this was a pre-planned shoot or not. i def hadnt planned to lead the route.... although, dan, i guess i should plan on it from now on, climbing with you. this summer i'll try and not always wear black.
there are 20 feet between the last bolt and the anchors. i wasnt the biggest fan. on slab.
look at them back muscles! great picture, dude. was this the buttcrack of dawn attack that we all missed?
lol... what is jhs hair?
its actually not my computer, is the computer in the studio/shed that my friends' band practices at. it is exceptionally dusty though...
hmmm.... i similarly thought it was water... until i ran into your comment.
early morning, the sun was just coming over the cliffline.
hey katie: forget the idiots who commented not on the climbing.
btw, were you at the new river rendezvous?
this is such a trippy picture.... i'm with ou newbie it feels like one of coldclimb's "what if?" pictures.
danno!!! if i manage to get back up in august, can we go do this???
the thought of rock like that gives me goosebumps. i have never seen firsthand anything so clean. is it slick? even makes me want to trad climb...
tell tommy nice ass shot.
holy shit i saw this on the front page and i'm like damn that looks like the tent city at the rendezvous.... and it is! i am seated, maybe two feet behind the POV of this photo. SWEET!
i hope you're being sarcastic. this is an illustration of a test setup for a toy biner, as stated in the title.
I FINALLY SENT IT SATURDAY!!!! happy days.
haha ZEN!!! ZEN!!! breathe! be smooth! you got it! zen!
btw, you are the most hardcorest person evar!!!
this is freaking sweet! when were yall out in nevada?
is it looking through a crevasse or a PS blackout? i cant tell.
i'd watch you guys make out any time tommy!!! but only if rockstar will cuddle with me, too. kickass shot.
is this a sketch or a PS rendering of a "sketch" from the digital image? either way, fantastic!
do you hear bats?
not sure if i've ever seen kenny with that much hair...
that is freaking awesome.
no bug. inhaled some chalk though...
i wish i could say that my first thought when i saw this picture wasn't, "wow. look at the posed leaves," but i can't.
devil... you know its not a live shot, right? hes not actually climbing *now.* hes got as good a shot at being sitting on a computer looking at pictures of other people climbing _this instant_ as you do. and you, and the rest of us commentors, have as great a chance of having been climbing when the picture was taken as the subject of the photo. if you submit a photo and allow people to rate it, it is fair game for comments that might be art critiques. I know some of the "best" climbing shots have been posed, but the difference is that in THIS shot, its not even the climber that's the immediate focus-- it's the leaves. which leads my thoughts right away to, "wow. look at the posed leaves." i've been to rocktown, i've attempted that problem, i've finished other problems on that boulder, and leaves dont just sit on top of it. sorry.
sweet picture. i'd like it better if it were level.
adam, not even your hairy shoulders could take away from how freaking amazing this picture is. dan, will you have my babies?
sidepull- they are not the tenya stretch, they are Montrail Tatoo slippers. i heart them.
he manage to get his foot back up on that lap? lol he has the expression on his face that i ususally get when i'm about to eat s--- off that problem....
this is an awesome shot as well. way to lead it, lucander.
"hey dude... roll your damn hat up so when i take this picture your eyes are in it!"
the ??horizon?? in the upper left corner seems kinda fukked up.
nice first piece, dude.
i love you too dan.
dan i just love the orange with the orange. i mean, like i *really* do. this is just such an amazing looking line.
caughtinside- yes i can climb from that position.... the arm is not positioned funny, my elbow just happens to hyperextend. moving past that jam, my left hand will be in the position of a high five, my chest towards the rock.
this shot is almost comical...
I like the rock... but given that the *rock* is the subject of the picture and not the climber, i almost think i'd like it better with no climber. the obvios chalk marks, and even the crash pad, would be ample evidence of climbing. but the crash pad and the background rock would not be so distracting while out of focus.
how much farther away is the crimp above the last clipped bolt?
you can disable ratings if your'e really that shy, danny.
i think you like it.
longdraws- "she probably climbs harder than most of you!"?? she is, unless i very much miss my guess, falling off of a V1. I'm sure that at the least she is a very good sport , easy going, good personality, or this pic would have been taken down, but the picture is mediocre and the problem is easy. people are being retarded, and that's what they do to shots like this. -- if this had been a really good shot, the photog would have been laying on his belly at the top of the problem, and we could get to see the amazing expression i can *just* tell that she has on her face. even if it meant that the picture included smokin' hot cleavage. and, we would have a much better view of the holds and the dynamics of the movement.
longdraws- not very many. is this what you are claiming she did? if so, many congratulations. but the point is you certainly cant tell that from the picture. the *only* things you can tell from the picture is that shes attractive, and falling. i'm just saying its stupid to defend a picture with the focus that this one obviously has with "she climbs harder than you!" if she was climbing that .12a then, yeah, you can say that. but shes not. you can not be indignant when people verbalize taking the bait, when the picture might as well have "bait" written on it.
is that heel hook any good?
ps alpine- are you in the tree? and how high is she? she looks damn high.
hehe bler, the pad is facing down for the same reason the spotters are standing on it and the shot has such a nifty angle. those things look better, and the shot is, i'm not going to say posed 'cause i'm not going to say shes not climbing it (there is every evidence to support that she is), but arranged.
alpine- yeah... i understand what can be meant in the technical sense by posed- pre-arranged reflectors and rigging and all, but i try not to say it when i dont want to come off derogatory? cause i feel like it can have negative connotations, and i think she looks like shes kicking ass (that crack looks *hard* at the bottom) and it didnt want to sound like "oh no shes posing blah blah"
ahhh.. excellent photo. makes me want to go trad climbing soooo bad.
like THIS climb has never been photographed. from every conceivable angle.
lookin' skinny, becky!
ahhhh sick, mike. nice shot, matt.
haha, adam, i can beleive blue hair on you, for sure. i just need to HAVE hair again, and then i can dye it purple.
your hair looks good like that danny. i miss you. PS come to rocktown for new years!
haha, no sweat, dude, the shirt is hawt. [plus, i mean, we get how it is. you gotta suck up to your photog sometimes... ...]
adorable, but not as cute as the picture of you as one nightstand.
you changed your profile pic!
just so you know, i noticed.
hookin' it UP.
the angle on this picture makes my head hurt. its like my mind wants the layers to be horizontal really badly.
yeah, i sewed up the bottom a bit, but i was protecting the traverse, and this pic is RIGHT after the crux.
yeah, that shot was taken with me laying on the ground, trying to get the whole route in on my very amatuer camera. it is the true angle of the climb; the chains are on a horizontal section, at the top of the blind arch. i think that the simplest solution to the belayer's back being washed out would be to put a shirt on him, but since the belayer and the weather were both crazy hot, i gotta say i have no problem with the shirtlessness.
love you too, bitchface. the clouds are indeed sweet.
this is on the front page, why?
that's funny. i cant find a username "C".
is this a recent picture? there goes my image of you as a graying, sardonic, hardened lawyer. pfffft.
i think its a great picture. and i also think stevej can shut the fuck up. the pink with the red leaves is nice. also that shes not looking at the camera, just climbing.
is this guy shitting on the photo page, philly? why would he do that!
more front page beauty! climbing in socal looks pretty damn good, eh?
apparently you cant put links in photo comments. ohwell, here goes- the picture makes the climber look way farther off the ground than he actually is. the picture makes the climb look damn near vertical, which is isnt even close to- its the underside of a blind arch. the picture doesnt give you a scope of the immensity of this crack. sure, you can tell that it's wide where his foot is, but everywhere else its a guess. so, while the climber and the belayer both obviously can follow directions for color-coordination, i dont feel like the picture conveys the route well. the picture is pretty- the route is awe-inspiring. and i think the picture is claustrophobic. it looks like it was shot down a corner, with no scenery, no sky, no scope. just overall lack of scope.
photo by me, climber john langston.
is that granite? what kind of rock is that?
in non-shutterbug talk, how long does that make the exposure on this? tripod?
unfortunately, (and to my mind more pertinent data), i do not know how many votes it takes to get something OFF the front page. another brilliant example has come to my attention- the evolve sign with the female standing in front of it has twice as many views as this picture, and they were submitted on the same day.
i gave up rating photos when i realized that no matter what, tits would make it to the front page, and, then i REALLY gave up when they switched the photo functionality to make it a major pain in the ass to browse new pictures.
i really like the sky in this picture.
cuz theres a girl in it OF COURSE
petsfed- i deleted all my pictures from here due to a combination of harassment and an uneasyness with the degree of ownership this site asserts on submitted materials. and angry isnt wearing tights in the pic i took, he's wearing ripped/duct taped pants. it's over on MP if you need a refresher.
this is snowboarding? ice climbing?
LOL, but your photo title is mising the 5=s out of clausti's meatbombz
i swear to god this photo has been on the front page every time i've clicked to it for three weeks. isn't there some kind of time limit on these things?
it would be a better pic, in my opinion, if you could more clearly see the route above her, or at least the hold she's going for. oh and if the picture didn't look posed as all hell.
arf, arf, go fuck yourself
haha, whatever y'all, my foot is not on the rope.
hehe, my shirt is actually pink. it's the NRG rendezvous, year 2, shirt. camhed's toprated photoshirt has a silver stripe.
btw, snupes, you are inkerect. you come to the RRG some time and i'll show you the proper sport climbing chicanery.
yes, a must-do 5.9 for the aspiring 5.9 leader*. [*not actually true.]
i'm very sad about my shorts, btw. they were AWESOME. and how come i don't get a spray grade plastered on my photo, dan? SEXIST. SUB512IST
nevermind, lena clarified for me.
why is it controversial?
flip your rope between burns blortjaya!
oh, G, please tell me the black lines are suture and not lines of infection. hope you're doing better!
dear jack, please die.
hey dan, hint: the first number is how big around you are. and a 36 i aint.
naw, the draw is twisted. if you follow the line of the rope you can see it's not, though it looks like it at first glance.
your just jeluz cuz you're tattoo is not so metal as that.
hey thomas, you send me naked pics of you and i'll reciprocate. happy new year!
yep, i'm kind of feminist. i also have boobs. what a crazy coincidence!
holy color saturation.
LOL, thanks danno.
as far is it not being a good picture in general, it's definitely not my favorite of the series. the best, i think, is from a couple bolts up when i'm at full extension going for the jug.
yeah, dan, if somebody wants to be like 'this image is cropped too tight to give any perspective" or "the light is no good" that's fine, but that's not what he said. his only stated issue with the picture is that the climber isn't pretty enough for him. if he wants to find women that were photographed for titillation alone, the internet is that ^<> way.
he also gave this one five stars: http://www.rockclimbing.com/photos/Bouldering/Buddha_Belly_111818.html hotness.
