a photogenic pose!
looks like you're trying to slide that flake off like a closet door! ;-) you're lookin' kinda sunburned there, girly!
nice! capturing the moment, capturing the hottie (haha, hey, what kinda girl would argue with me?) ;) hehe, girl climbers get the pig comments, why not guys too? but seriously, awesome shot of some real talent!
they're la sportiva meraks. I haven't seen them in use much, maybe it's cos they're best on narrow feet. but I dig 'em! they're awesome for skinny-footed sport chix like me :D
I just craned my neck ;) GO JASON! forks looks cool, too bad it's closed now :'(
Pretty! Makes me wish we had autumn leaves in AZ
Silhouettes are cool :)
Stem on, girl! :)
hehe, what can I say, I am enthusiastic when I want something ;)
I wanna climb it too I wanna climb it too I wanna climb it too :-D
Looks tough, but photogenic at least :-P
I'm on granite! :D
Passthedaisydukes! :-P Naw, really... nice shot :)
Viva the fisheye lens! I also really like the colors.
Very cool, another example of what climbing is All About. The purple helmet, the green rope and the red shoes also add a nice splash of bright color!
oh oh oh, got another one... you sure you're not climbing a route called The Shortest Shorts? :D
In & Out?? :P naw, you want some good (but rather obscure) burgers, find an A&W. And *snicker* to the chubby tourons at Yosemite ;) Oh yes, another cool pic!
The tropical plants are sweet, make a nice color contrast against the rock. and good work on the lead there, girl! :)
actually, I find it a nice take on the typical arete shot. very cool! :D
Looks like you were really trying!
Ha.. my contribution.. the sawed-off Dickies are too much, just slip into a tube sock...
You just can't go wrong, Lee :) I like the focus on the pro
*cranes neck to check out the shadows* cool!
Can't get enough silhouette shots :)
Half Dome looks pretty bitchin'! I wanna go to Yosmiteeeeeeee....
Nice! Great sky, beautifully imposing background for the wee mortal climber. Very cool :)
lovely backdrop, nice body position, and HEY! are those the Anasazi Mesas?
Yeah, Homestead! How's that road in treating your vehicle?? :P
I like how the pic is framed by the leaves... looks like you're spying on them :)
hehehe.. EEEExcellent. Your PEAS n CARROT musta been pretty chilly though!
I always like how the climber dances with his own shadow on the rock :)
No headwrap, doo-rag or TOOK (toque :P) for me, that hair kept getting in my face :( But ahh, good times anyway :D
This is the lineage that Chris Lindner comes from, eh?... sweet :D
another one for the "Go Girl!" collection :D
From that perch, Pete called me on his cell phone to pass the time. hehe! the reception was surprisingly good for being 12 pitches up a wall in the Valley in the middle of a storm! I wonder if that's what he was doing right there :D
WHEEE! Adam takes flight... stick it, stick it!
What? A shirt... well, ok, but it's not even a wifebeater. And where's the cig? THAT'S NOT ADAM! >:o hehe
I love thin vert... and on sandstone too! perfect!
Slab... blah! But that's a great shot. I like the clarity of the foreground and the fuzz of the background. Good concentration on the climber's face too.
I whole-heartedly concur! The Federation of Dr. Piton Hotties endorses you! :D
...Kama Su(ma)tra? :D
Too bad you can't hear the sound effects that went along with this climb ;) Debbie... er, Andria does the Forks!!
No, Adam. Double ropes. You use twins for ice, right ???
He looks a bit unsure about his big descent through air... I'd probly clutch the rope like that too!
Is that Lilred?? :D
I like action shots as much as the next guy, but this a very nice, soothing alternative. Lovely on any day. Gorgeous! Say... did you use a filter?
That's a good photo friend to have in your pocket!
I like how you can see what the rock is like. And good heel-hookin'!
Interesting angle. I hope this ends up on the FP too :)
YAY TUCSON! :D And that *is* a cool pic... I am a sucker for silhouettes.
Yeah! Kelly, glad to see this on the FP! I know I left a quick comment earlier, but well, I was just speechless when I saw it a few days ago. This is totally sweet, one of the best shows of creativity I have seen around here! People, give this the 10 it deserves. This pic is coooool!
Onsight FA of an 11b finger crack?! WHOA!! *I'm not worthy!* ;)
Not RED Rocks, Orange Rocks :P Nice!
Nice! Wow, alpine is just so creepy for this Arizona rock chick! But it is strangely, sublimely beautiful. I see the appeal.
Pockets are cool
Looks like some fierce storm action...
Interesting! Like b_g said, it's nice to see something different.
Is yor chest ever NOT sunburnt?
wow, that takes some talent! hats off to the punkin carvers :)
That's pretty, looks like a brochure (one that tries to get people to move to Alaska ;) )
Climbing shots don't always have to include climbing :)
Aesthetic position, but doesn't seem like it's very pleasant to actually be in!
Very soothing... the pastoral scene, dog and all, soloing in the fading light. Good job at capturing some climbing soul.
Hottie! :P Warming up on a pumpy .10c!
HAHA! I saw a sign just like it along the trail to Ragged Edges. Got a pic of that one too...
This is a cool pic. The big scoop of rock with the pinecone in it (hence the name? :) ) and the motion of the climber are neat.
Evil looking move. Would be better if the guy's head weren't cut off :)
I really love this photo, and am going to get it blown up to poster size.<p>We were just horsing around on the boulders, but even in play, Andria was always the quietly bolder spirit of us- you can see this just by how she's standing, taking in the view from the top (Tucson Mtn. Park is <i>gorgeous</i>), while I poke around a little lower, hoping to get to her high point too.<p>I am so glad we have this photo. It was one of my faves as soon as I saw it, and even more now. It just captures us.
Happy Birthday, Basti ;)
You <b>TOOL!!!</b> :D ahahahhahaahaha <p>Yup, once a hottie, always a hottie. !!
Good eye, Marc ;) <p>and yes it is a donkey on my ass. What better animal to clip onto your bum than an ass?? He's my good luck charm/mascot thingie.
looks hard. traversing sloper pinches? gah!!
Aaahhh! *hides under desk* That's a face!! ;) Cool hand motion too...
haha.. Art would never splat. he's far too much of a hottie to splat ;)
<i>*Roar*</i> That is so cool!!
5.13 slab in the snow... only the British ;D hehe.
Yeah yeah yeah, shouldn't there be a <i>bench</i> at this crag too, Jack? ;) hehe
Butt shots of Pete in booty shorts are automatic 10s! (hey, at least you're wearing your helmet this time)
Did Chongo live? Yes. Is Dan Osman still alive... uh, that's another discussion.<p>At any rate, I have tummy ticklies. SuperChongo, flapping through the air! You wacky boys!! Oy!
That's our girl!<p>I love this picture! How genuinely happy she was. Hai Karate's gonna be my first gear lead too, you watch!
I'd be that happy too!!
Great composition and contrast! I like this particular Meghan shot best! :)
I bet his Anasazis are the same size as mine :P
Nifty contortionism <i>a la roca. Bueno!!</i>
Great clarity and shot of the jam. It would be better if we could see his face, but the bright blue blob of helmet is also novel :)
I think the tent gives it perspective... a human element. You know that this guy is at basecamp and not just getting a nice but plain calendar or postcard shot. That's what we'd see if we peeked outside our shelters. Anyway, I like it! Very imposing chunk of rock there ;)
Peaceful even with the tail-lights of the car in the background :D
A two-hand downclimbing dyno... nice ;)
I rather like this pic!
heh... yeah, you've got a certain action movie hero look, maybe indiana jones. but both of you guys posing is kinda innocently macho cute. :)
I like this shot! Nice clarity and depth of field, and his body position on what appears to be wee holds. Plus, I totally approve of those pants! ;)
When I first saw this pic it was getting 5's! >:-o (we know it's much better!) What else you got, ropegungirl? I'm a sucker for Red Rocks :D
Heh! Yes, pretty good for a butt shot!
Yes, Johnny, some even climb 5.14! If you want to cease your own suckage and close the gap a little, go climb-something! ;P
Bad arete, bad! *spank*
Actually, it IS a classic butt shot, and fuzzy too.
Man, this picture is a hoot. Way to capture a feeling! People who know me know I am a sucker (hey! none of that!) for the olden days and the olden mens. I love these pics that give a feel for what climbing life was like Back In The Day, when my parents were my age and pitching pup tents in the woods and being crunchy-granola. And that headband... heehee! :)<p>And <a href=http://www.rockclimbing.com/photos.php?Action=Show&PhotoID=1341>wasted server space</a>, you say? Hmm...
rwalter- whatever. That photo is just fine where it is.
Spooky! :) So, wait, this is from a film camera or a digital? (confused) And *lol* to crackaddict's comment... good one!
heheh, I am too entertained by the heavy metal theme... what do you think when you see this pic? "My god has forsaken me, into darkness do I creep, alone and in my head" etc etc :D
**note the Tecate in Curt's hand**
Is this a scanned print? If so, I'd love to see what you could get just by scanning the neg!
Beautiful. A peaceful, pure, proud moment.
a 10 for the PHOTO, hot girl or not. It's a superb shot!
Get some new shorts!!! At least we know your belayer was cute...
Nice indoor action shot. I like the crowd of spectators below. The guy hanging in the background kinda detracts, but I don't hold it against you :)
whatever. I could live without ever seeing Oli if I get Stevinator... :P
Limestone makes me all giggly and happy!
*me looks around the base of the crag* Anybody seen my tendons??
Nice framing and late-afternoon light!
Cute expression, but it appears posed. Also, the shadow takes away from the pic.
There's something soft and dreamy about the way this is lit... interesting contrast to the climber's obvious strength and power.
Thank you atg200... but no, they haven't. >:P
TRUE Jack trivia fact: he cuts and colors his own hair... without a mirror. Can you tell?!
Washed out, and the climber is out of focus. But the cracks look really cool!
Man Curt, you never look like you're stressing... just floatin'...
Lewd-Hill and her stupid hat! :D
The spotter's yellow shirt really draws my eye away from the intended subject, and the black border is distracting.
hah, that IS a young, scrawny Adam!
This is WAY cool!
Gee, I used to have a pic like this in my albums. heehee.
It's pathetic, and I'd give it a 2 again if I could. hehehe. just kidding, yo ;)
*bursts out laughing* Jack!! You dirty dog... heheh.
He makes the chics moist!
postscript- I tweaked this a bit to submit at a higher resolution :) And cloudbreak, yeah, I've only kinda gone digital- this particular shot was taken on Rick's digital, but the other 500+ frames I shot in Yosemite last week were on conventional film cameras ;)
*scratch scratch scratch*
Yeah Alex, it's a painful trade-off, but still totally worth it!
*lol* That thar rock is in Flagstaff, Arizona. That girl is bvb's wife. heheh
hehe, yeah Jay, the belayer had just overcome this route himself! Why sully his pride? Kole was a happy man ;)
No. My nail polish is blue on my right hand, yellow on my left :P
Everybody loves Elena :) (but Chris, this looked better in color)
Nice moody lighting, looks like you're getting in one more climb before the end of the world :)
Nice veins. Nice slung hexes. Nice PANTS!!
It's back in color! I win!! :D
Yeah, I'm betting somewhere in Hall of Horrors. Those nice 6s and 7s you and Kelly did, right? Oh, and nifty framing with the yucca!
It's not THAT tough of a slog! I made it fine, and I'm a weenie! :P
Ummm... Hall of Horrors (from our last day)? Or Jumbo Rocks campground? (camping! my specialty!)
ooooooooooooh, Curt, I'm tellllllllllllling.
Don't you have a pic of him dangling by one arm off the top a'la Lynn Hill??
They look like lycra "bike" shorts to me... the kind chicks in Jazzercize wear  But we'll forgive you ;)
<i>I don't understand why this photo isn't rated higher either. Are there people here with ulterior motives in their voting ? -- ethanluca</i> undoubtedly there are! Nonetheless. I do like this one better than many others that have popped up myself...
I'd give it a 9 or 10 if it were either completely silhouetted, or the climber were fully exposed. Still cool though!
ART! WHERE'S MY GUIDEBOOK? IS THIS IN THE GUIDEBOOK? THIS ISN'T IN THE GUIDEBOOK! AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!11
Good composition and color, Pete- and it's even in focus! Bonus!
Another nice shot contrasting the climber's apparel and helmet with the environment!
Ha. Cute. The Red Bull peeps would approve.
Is this a color photo converted to grayscale? If so, the color version may be better... not a whole lot of contrast in this scene...
The People demand a larger, higher-res shot :D
Juan Castro is cool. What else he got?
This really is a great photo of CLIMBING, of the movement and effort, so much that I barely notice that it's a TR. That's just not what this photo is about anyway, though. So eat it, TR-pic haters :P >:)
Um, is there a reason why this got a 4?
No comment is ALWAYS a comment.
Check it, his tee-shirt coordinates with his climbing shoes!
Why is this pic a 4? It can't be the shorts, they're new! (bout time)... oh well, sorry Babe. I tried. Way to finally tick the beast.
Would be a better pic if her shoulder wasn't blocking part of her face.
Nice drop knee! Got any cartiledge left in there? ;) I like the colorful contrast of his shirt and right shoe.
Once again, somebody with <b>no spine</b> gives this a 4 and doesn't say why... it's ok if you don't like it, but how about some constructive criticism?
Getting these shots was delightfully easy. The Forks is a rap-in crag, and there are zillions of trees at the rim of the canyon to rap in from. So I rapped just to the right of this line, although I could have probly scooted a few feet closer via another tree. Next time :)
Go Ed, go Ed, it's your birthday...
Note the richness, the texture, the striking color of... Jack's hair. So lush, so brown, so on his head. Amazing. Hey Jay, can you scan that one of Jack's mini-mullet? Jack's hair is so very fascinating ;)
Hafta keep scrolling to see it all on my 14-in monitor!<p>Is that your cheater stick or are you just happy to see me?! :P
Get your knuckles off the ground, for God's sake... you can't even see their faces!
Fun with burnt retinas! ;P Very... bright... ! It is cool though :)
I like the depth of field. And climbers with glasses are wicked cool, especially the ones who fix them with duct tape (ok, I'm just talking about myself again) ;)
Dude, the Linders are a badass climbing family. Elkie is awesome- she's the same generation as my mother and pulling down on 12s and 13s. V. inspirational. And we all know about Chris, right? And... even their dog was legendary, I hear, as being a 5.0 scrambler!
Aw, that's nuthin. Truly furry men would think this chest patch insignificant. These dudes tend to be about a deuce and a half, at least, wear baggy tank tops, and hang out in mall food courts ;) The built-in-sweater man ;)
I am quite certain that if I owned a top like that the sunburn lines would be beyond comprehension. Curse my fair skin *peels shoulders*
Gotta love the socks! :)
COOL! what a calendar shot! 2 big, gobie-scabbed thumbs-up! :)
Nice color contrasts.
This is when you start whoopin' and hollerin' cos you've got it in the bag. Then I start wondering how to get out of your way before you steamroll me ;) Oh, and The Prow is at least 5.11a, maybe 11b. Off-fingers madness. Yah!
The Snoopy pants get aggro! >:)
Curt, he's obviously flashing gang signs. Think the Crips (seeing as he is wearing blue and all) have a German chapter? haha
Sorry, not one of your best. I have to try too hard to pull my eyes away from the tree.
I love this photo! You almost look like a badass... too bad you're just a puppy dawg!
One of our very own! Nice work Phil :)
Her blue shirt blends in with the cool, muted colors of the rock, so while this is a good shot, she doesn't really "pop." If you were the type to dress your subjects, I'd have suggested a red top :P But that aside, this is still great. 9.
This is just a snapshot, almost seems silly to critique it, but here goes- The flash off the tree really ruins this, the pack on the ground is clutter, and the evening lighting is blah. I don't really care if it's a sicky hard problem. I've seen bad photos of Sharma on Realization. 6.
FD, have you seen the photo of somebody TRing a 5.8 slab on the front page? Who cares about the rating, it's about the PHOTO, not the route itself. Anyway. Nice composition. Maybe a bit too much rock, but the diagonal line of draws keeps your attention. Would make a nice print enlarged to say, 8 x 10. Good eye, krillen. 9.
Nice framing with the boughs of the trees. However, the contrast is weak; I have to search for the climber even though he is prominently placed in the frame. What would this have looked like in color? 7.
Awesome body position, but the way his head blends into the shadows he looks like he has no head at all! And those trees... c'mon, you're not fooling anybody ;P
Neat! A 10 for creativity.
Good goddess, enough chalk on that rock?!
It's so... blue!
This ought to definitively answer the "is Hillary as hot as rumored" question... heh
Good god Jay, GET A BETTER HEADLAMP!
Re-scan at a higher resolution and repost, pls! :)
Alright, who's the wiseguy who thinks my ass is only worth a 1.5? You are sorely, sorely mistaken ;) heheh
Smartass. I think I look 15!
Beautiful. But it shows up as such a tiny image and thumbnail! :(
kodos- I know what ya mean! but Kole is a pretty red guy anyway. he's very fair featured and flush-skinned, esp. when he's climbing. ;D
who's Don Martin? looks like you guys had fun
Tim- it's Fuji Superia 200 print film, direct from my corner Sav-On and tweaked a bit in Arc Soft PhotoStudio (not even PhotoShop). Do I qualify as ghetto fabulous now? ;)
I love, yes I LOVE that formation. You boys went and had fun without me :(
Cool. Maybe snip out the bit of sky to have the climber completely in a sea of sandstone? :D
*blush* *grin* oh, and yes Alex, that is Kole.
"this one isnt nearly as good as the original... -- sbclimber " Umm... this IS the original...
Framing is a leetle bit too tight on top, with too much empty space on the bottom.
viva Spike! The lens distortion bringing attention to his hand/forearm is cool. but dammit, Jack, LET A PROFESSIONAL AT THAT HAIR ALREADY!! yer killin' me.
He copped up2top's hairdo! :P
The Pit roolz
The phallic rocks in AZ are SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much cooler ;) and bigger. and... harder! (what.. it's a 5.10!)
Awesome DOF and timing! I wish there was just that last bit of gear in the frame, but whatcha gonna do. And what kinda film you using? The color is wicked. And it's not every day you see a photo of a trad whipper. Yeah yeah yeah... 10 ;)
must you be a jackass in every photo comment, one900?
Rad body position, but the totally blown out sky really hurts the pic.
His face is obscured... so no, it's not a particularly awesome shot. Could be worse though...
Why are the climb ratings so damn important to everybody? Anyway. Nice mix of cool and warm tones. I see Jack has been getting some sun... still no real barber though!
as I have told you already- great sense of upward progress. His body position and sweeping arm, plus engaging facial expression, make this a winner.
Eeeeeeeeeeee!!! No. Not. Even. For me.
Hold your tongues, boys. I am sure she IS pretty, but 1) all we're seeing here is a ponytail for god's sake!, and 2) she's just a kid. Any adult leering at an adolescent girl needs a good smack upside the head. I am sure her father madriver could administer a few of those :P
I appreciate the "graphical" nature of your shots, smike. I might have scooted the frame just a leetle bit more right though- give her right eye more room, but don't include her left eye- keeping the half-face cropping concept, because it helps isolate her intensity and concentration. I also would have smudged out the spotter's hand. It's supportive and "real" when it's more of a full hand, but when it's just a little bit of finger, it's a bit distracting. Overall, though, I really like your style. Thanks for something a little different!
How much of those white patches are CHALK?! neat mottled light.
D'oh! to the tree blocking the top twin ;)
Whoever belayed him and/or scanned this photo is really cool.
what's going on with the white patch in the lower right?
Is English your second language too, 'gurl? lol, jk!
Nice! Kids krankin'! I hope nobody makes any kind of "climber chix are soo hot" post though, she looks about 12!
The contrast is a bit harsh, but it's growing on me. Very "design." 10 for originality.
I am sure she's just tugging the piece to set it, but it looks like she's french freeing.
the rock is neat, but the novelty of the climber being 12 is more so and he deserves to be the real subject :)
Where's Mt. Tom?? Oh well, at least there's a beanie in this shot ;D
calming... nice toque, too ;)
rwalter- so, you'll be supplying the next FP photo then?
Kole and Rick really, really like phallic desert towers.
haha, Rick is renowned across the west for his PANTS!! I love it!
*confused* it looks like he's seconding?...
this deserves to be rated much higher!
oh nooooooooooooo!! ((mr. bill voice)) you mean somebody didn't totally drown in their own saliva over a jorg shot? say it ain't so!!
the tights, the tank top, the socks and day-glo high tops, and do I detect a headband? makes me wish I was climbing in the 80s instead of playing with dolls and watching double dare.
Awesome moody light
handsome devil *pinches jay's cheekies*
good lord. can't you guys find a tube sock?
if y'all say so.. personally, I find the center-weighted composition and the relatively featureless sky and cliff boring. But whaddo I know?
Photographers tend to be pretty independent units. Photos are usually shot on rap or by jugging a fixed line, if there isn't any easily accessible, great view obtained just by hiking around. I've taken some variations on this kind of self portrait, with just my leg dangling in space with the climber out of focus in the background. Doubt it'd be so popular though :P
somethin' about white boys with a fro... at least it's a subtle fro ;)
clever. I always like this kinda off-the-wall stuff, it always makes me smile. speaking of "off the wall" Climbing mag runs a photo feature with same name, submit this!
I love that song!
lens flare... ouch
5.6 squeeze job on hollow, crusty rock! MY FAVORITE LEAD EVER!!!!! *meme kisses the #1 rock that would have never held her weight* mmmmmm-wah!
whoa... indeed... that rope is nowhere near her harness... what's up with this?
Nice scene and colors, but the focus appears soft to me, and the sky is blasted out (or was it just really cloudy?). Very pretty though!
haha. maybe they just don't like you, Babe :P
Not much drama and a bit static, but very pretty rock and jungly green stuff.
Not bad, not bad. Framing is a bit tight behind the climber though, and the image works better if turned 180 degrees. He looks kinda desperate, good expression.
Same lens flare, different day... get a hood!!
trim your shoelaces! :P
Decent enough snapshot, but is this only getting voted to the FP because it shows a V14?
Aww, Jay!! See, come climbing with me, my rope doesn't have core shots :-D
a touch shallower DOF would have enhanced this, but it's a nice contrast and pose. Good stuff.
Nice colors, nice body position, good for a ground-up shot, but was this digital? It looks a little pixelated. maybe a slightly smaller version would look sharper?
I like the composition of this one! I wish Matt were a tad above his bolt for added drama. Still v. nice.
Climber is still shadowed
Climber is rather shadowed
Why is this on the FP? The sun showing through the "windows" is blasted out and an unappealing reddish tone. Is the person supposed to be lit or silhouetted? One or the other. And rappel butt shots aren't any better than climbing butt shots. 5.
[random thought] This pic reminds me, I have an inexplicable ropeburn on my left armpit [/random thought] And Quino, you're a tool.
incredible pic? it's grainy/pixelated, and we can't see her feet. Nice snapshot for her to remember a day's climbing, but that's all. So what if she's cute?
Interesting mix of warm light on a shirtless climber with the wintery leafless trees...
It's hard for nature to be portrayed as beautiful if it gets %@#$ up in the photographic process that is supposed to show it off. Sorry, deal with it. I think the pic is weak.
...and having your work screwed over without a copyright notice is even worse...
Would be better with the climber's face showing.
baja_java- too funny
I don't see the hat! WHERE'S THE HAT???
Muscles good. Overexposed sky bad.
Nice moment, but his arms are too hot (in a photograph sense). 7.
Euros and their jammy pants, giving flagstaff_climber a run for his money! Nice exposure.
Moody. I like it!
Doesn't it kinda look like he's climbing indoors... but on real rock? Nice framing and expression- poor guy looks beat up, though! 9.
I must be mad. The sun spot is killin' me. You need more than sun spots and quasi-silhouettes to make a great pic. 5.
Should be rated higher. I really like this creation! 10.
Help me out- this is getting an 8.5 @ 5 votes because of... um, what?
Dark... could this be brightened any in photoshop?
Beautiful colors, typical JTree glory. But what's going on with the looming patch of rock on the left-hand side?
yep, that's THE Verm. He also cut the mullet :( but the beer lives on...
1) I am too weak to go anywhere near this part of Maple, so I don't know this cave in particular, but I understand that a lot of people project routes here, so maybe some of those draws may be from routes other than the one pictured. *shrug* Idle speculation. Anyhoo.<p>2) I don't usually care for silhouettes, but I really like this one. It reminds me of a pic I saw in a mag awhile ago of some guy dangling in a cave with lots of stalactites. The shadows of man and stalactite were too cool. Did you use a filter?
The climber's arm obscures his face enough to detract from the shot. 7.
Tis pity it's staged...
Is the rope drag bad, or does it just look kinda funky?
Pathetic little thing- the rock, not the girl ;P
My new blue sweatshirt is cooler than anything we crimbed out there...
That's BOOTY that not everybody gets to take with them! ;D
looks like Lethal Weapon- I've heard 12d, but Jack surely says it's easier ;P
yeah, seen waaaaay too many times...
You'd be thrilled to know how many gumbies around here would think that toprope next to you hasn't actually been freed *gag*
That's your idea of a runout, moeman?
PROOF that crampons and boots come in my size! OK, who's taking this sport weenie ice climbing?!
It's good, but not a 10. They can't all be. Alex has some valid criticisms.
and you're proud of this?!
How high is he off the ground? pity about the branch and it only being the top of a head...
aha! a prana headband!!
Well, I think saying it sucks is harsh, but it IS a butt shot and doesn't offer much...
That's ok- the sky is moody, I like it.
nagatana: dirty little secret of climbing photogs- they sometimes tell their models how to dress, how to place their feet, to repeat a move over and over again till they think they got a good shot of it. It happens all the time. The awesome shots in the mags are very often NOT accidental.
This is easily your best entry! Sweet! 10+
I like the placement of the hand, and that you DIDN'T go with a narrow DOF for the hand in focus, face not look. A slightly wider framing would be nice, but otherwise I like it- crisp!
I'd like to see his left hand...
Thank you, Meg ;)
Always a delight to see Rich's pics... but this one is voted FAR too low!
The burning question, folks, is- WHAT KINDA SHOES ARE THOSE?! just takin the piss out of you, and since I know, I am not innocent either- they're Red Chili Dos Equis...
Is the sky really that blue and flat in the original, or was it an overexposed white patch that you "dyed" on the computer?
Unique in that there isn't a gaggle of other climbers dogging around him or project draws gleaming in the sun...
haha, unabonger- are you channeling Curt?;)
Great moody shot.
Well, could just be that rokshox is a gumby...
<p>Anyway. Ugh. Slab. JTree friction makes me wanna hurl. Good work!
Good thing you were dead set against falling anyway, or else you mighta had to kick your belayer's arse for taking a pic of you...
Oh, I definitely would have gotten a pic of you leading that! yeehaw!
What's a "nerd gate?"
Too bad you didn't get the whole hand in! Would be a top-notch indoors shot otherwise.
Dynamic, I like it. Pity about the sun creeping in in the background, but the climber's position and the effort showing on his face are great.
The tilted view works well here... not sure why... maybe just the surrealism of climbing a church?
Hexes on 5.12? Okie dokie.
Atta girl! :)
Sublime (I like that word)
*Batman song* na-na-na-na... BACKSHOT!!!!!!!!1
Yeah, I know, I'm hardcore. Feel my burl, kids. hahaha.
Yeah, but if you can reach it, dammit, it's on!
I like the water in the summit jug... ew.
Color was better. The warm orange light is what made it so good. In b&w it almost looks "cold."
Art- you are so loved :) Now get your shorter-than-me, cool-hat-and-cig self down to AZ- sooo much quality stone, man!
Grr, I'm an animal!!!
I LIK THE CHALK. CHALK GUD.
Like, wow! The top of some guy's head!
Nice position, would have looked better in natural light (I presume you used a flash)
Gee, highballin' it like that without a pad... props, man, props.
You'd have an out-of-focus shot blown up to a poster? Okay.
Weird exposure (of the photo, not the route...)
Curt, the naughty word-o-filter won't let me say what I'll probly have to say after you've destroyed me :P Marc, my shoes rool!
Note the little gold plaque in the bottom of the frame. But say what you will, Crawdad is fun.
Overexposed silhouette in baaad need of cropping. Oops, did I say something other than "awsome pic!!!!1" Damn, I'm mean.
Oh my god, I look like a donkey!
Neat! I've been wondering about your project!
Dred is getting a good thumping, but I'll join the chorus- grade is very much relevant, though sometimes relative, in runout. Say, 30 feet of runout 5.2 and 30 feet of runout 5.10 are just not the same. The easy run may scare a 5.5 leader a whole lot more, but it just doesn't compare to a hard runout.
Lemmon always seems cooler in other people's pics. Maybe I should climb at home more. Is that Bashie Crack?
The softness is neat, knowing how thuggish that route is. And heeeeeeeeey, Jack is wearing fancy duds these days? What happened to his holey-butt cotton capri pant thingies with ripped-off-sleeve old tshirts? Is he gettin' some culture?!
Nice soft light. I've seen some grand suffering on this route, but Jack makes it look casual.
Photography classes? Where, Whattsa Matta U? 6. Too dark and the blur is too artificial. Given how low the light looked naturally, a wide aperature opening would have given real DOF. Learn how to use a camera, not the computer.
<i>huh....I always figured she swung the other way. oh well. hilarious pic! -- jumaringjeff</i> Congratulations! You've just won the Tacky Comment of the Day Award!
Steph Forte? She rules.
Curt spots me on slab a foot off the ground. Curt knows what's up. hehe.
Hey man, the little drtopo thingy said that's a V1. Warmups *quiver* at the sound of my tennies in the distance, yo.
Oh, you're cute when you're in rectal distress... heehee
oh Beth, don't you remember my multi-page flame fest on the subject? ;) I do like her specs though, have a pair like that myself.
but Jack is such a beautiful man! :P
I dig the shadow too... it looks like it's climbing!
Actually, I like the departure from the tight DOF with the focus on the hand bit.
...Hillary peeks in... turns red, even for Hillary... continues to mumble in 3rd person...pats ass proudly... tiny evil smile...
You mean, like, some people can climb without gear a foot beneath them?
Seriously underrated photo.
One of those goats IS Tracy's dog. It's not a sheep after all, it's a goat!
I am actually high on a boulder problem, not THAT close to the ground.
Why AF will always be below manual focus...
I don't mean to pee on anybody's parade, but the desaturated background, bright-color subject look has been done. A lot. This pic would have looked better full-color.
Oh look, desat background and color subject.
Conceptual humor is good. n00b lecture-spray is lame.
forgive me, but I imagined the unabonger as being older. and looking like Ted Kaczynski. Nice shot- is the guano slippery?
If that's the Todd McGregor I know- it figures Tucson can't keep a strong climber!
Yay Meg, you too have a page full of horny boy commentary! Now go piss off a homely chick, and have a nice day. Hottie!
rapp you? what the hell does that mean?
He looks like coldclimb!
Okie-dokie! VEGAS LIMESTONE BABY!!!!!
...And a tat!
"webbing harness" = swami
Elvis- haha. You're one of my heroes, you know that? ;)
I'm fond of these types of compositions. Smith looks cool.
His eyes seem to follow you, don't they? One second they're looking up the route, then they're lookin off at the camera... kinda freaky. Or maybe it's just me :)
Everybody loves climbing phallic rock :)
Somebody is seriously butthurt. I know my pic was bad- how do you think I know what shit looks like?
Paul is one of the rare few who knows my ethnicity! [j.lo]Latinas have such big butts, teehee![/j.lo]
Joe knows what he's talking about... and yeah, the composition is neat. Putting the climber in the upper left corner works for this pic.
she's likely trailing a second rope for rappelling or somesuch
Look closer... you can see his ball cap flying off his head! I think the orange ball is just some kind of weight for the power lines?
*pokes Ed's carcass with the bloody pole* NURSE! get this thing out of here. It's starting to stink. :)
You can convert any image to greyscale with pretty much whatever basic photo program comes with your scanner.
*slurp slurp slurp* get the paper towel ready!
johnnyk, you are such a TOOL.
then obviously moonshine hasn't been to Sport Park or Clear Creek Canyon!
It IS a bouldering shot. Well, maybe a free-solo?
and whatever it is, boulder, lead, TR, I really wanna visit this place sometime!
A rare real 10
Lovely. Did you join the masses on the bridge for this shot? :)
I have the same tan back-white legs affliction!
It's the border! hehehehe
your MAROON VELOUR chalkbag. *tssss* sexy metro chalk receptacle there!
"here's an amusing little prob..." *smack* ;)
Orson Jacinto... cool name
We're in third grade *pbbbbbbbbbbbbt*
Why haven't the rope over hip tards said anything about Tracy's rope configuration? It's because she's hotter than me, right?! hahaha
That's a sport route??...
Of course you can do something about it. That person would be very easy to clone out. Anyway, since you ask for comments, I'll say: I am a tough audience with silhouettes. I don't like most of them and am very picky. When taking silhouettes, I think it is imperative that the outline of the subject not be muddled in any way. Here, you have the guy's arm blocking his head. If his head were thrown back in such a way that we could see the whole outline of the head without any arm in front of it, it'd be a good silhouette. Right now, it is close, but no cigar. Hence, a 7. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Hmm... I like j_ung's interpretation.
While The Hat is indeed rad, it's not quite to the standards of <a href=http://www.rockclimbing.com/photos.php?Action=Show&PhotoID=10643>Art's hat</a>, also a damn sexy slacklining accessory. ;D
Excellent seconding shot. Nice composition.
...yes, I know the mechanics. But there are lots of other asshats around here who can't wrap their heads around the concept though.
Spiffy Ace bandage!
good jams *are* SO bomber
Uh... looks like Genesis? First climb on the far left flank of the Main Wall?
Outstanding slice of life. Hey Merrick, I'm sure you've only heard this 100 times before, but now seems like a good time: with a name like Merrick Ales, you should have your own brewery!
elvis!! outstanding!!! :)
Looks like fly-by-night choss. Of course, that turns me on!
Shouldn't he be laybacking the drawers behind him, to the right? And users sure do have a say what comes up on the front page. Think the Mexican comp climber's huge hooters are up there by happy accident?!
I get it, Tracy. And I am too! *rowr*
hahaha. alas, t-dog's lack of deep, shadowy cleavage will prevent that...
It's your large stick that we WANT!! (Curt, you make it waaaaay too easy for me)
Cute chick way out right, out of the frame... ;)
boobiesboobiesboobies. There. I said it. The rest of you will have to be more original *eye roll*
Are details of feet on slacklines the new "hand in focus on the rad boulder proj" shot? :P
Lynn is looking quite fashionable!
Damn, Josh, so how can you now bear to go to Mushroom boulder on a hot Sunday? :P
If this thing is some kind of indicator, I obviously have no sense of humor *eye roll*
"hand so rad" is a common theme in bouldering pics.
No shit dingus and josh. I've had gumby crap posted to my pics as well. Like, try harder, kids.
He looks kinda chilly...
Kinda looks like a duck's bill from this angle
hehe- I know ;) But Jay is short!
I don't get it :?
Funny lifestyle shot. The hat, of course, makes it.
whoa, hi, I'm a big fat border!
Gorilla arms. I envy them. ooh-ooh-eee-eee! :)
iclimb, that's a climbing rope. do you know what a climbing rope is?
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale? :)
Sean, you are so weird ;)
Looks like a tea kettle snugglie on his head. But he can wear whatever he wants.
Jay- until somebody chops said anchors. heh.
8.29 for a photo of a tent? I guess this is what joe et. al. are talking about in that thread.
Finally, somebody with talent! Been a long time comin'
Gorgeous. Wish I could see more of what he's climbing, but it's still beautiful.
um, I think johnnyk just trolled ya good.
Bob- it was a mullet. MULLETMULLETMULLET!
I've seen enough Smeagol heads plopped onto climbing pics...
People, today's vocabulary term is "depth of field." In other words, focus is on climber, crap behind him blurry. And yes, the depth of field is very nice indeed.
And it's in AZ! Yes! Gotta check it out.
We're not wothy! :)
If you guys TRd it, where's her rope?
The pic doesn't need the elaborate border... it's good enough without it.
Extraneous ropes and hangdogging do not a good picture make, even if it is an (ooh, ahh) silhouette.
Yeah, if my brother told me to spread my legs I'd kick his ass ;) But he's so scrawny it wouldn't be fair.
I've seen lots of lizard shots here, but this description made it worth it!
*grin* this is the way of the Climbsomething ;)
Riiight, Tracy... blame it on Karl ;)
Neat fish-eye effect. Really nice TR shot. 8.
I think it's pretty good for an oft-photographed problem. At least it doesn't have Mt. Tom in the background.
"yeah, put a helmet on that kid, pretty careless dad! " Jerk. Oh, and Davidson's is harder than 11b.
OK, time to come up with a new wink-wink-nudge-nudge comment now! :P
Well, since I seem to be armless, maybe I was just looking up there to see if he had an extra appendage I could use... ;D
"ty pic refine before posting a gliched pic " and what language is that, exactly?
<a href=http://www.rockclimbing.com/photos.php?Action=ListPhoto&PhotoID=17233>flagstaff_climber</a>'s long-lost brother!
The style and semantics police just wrote you a ticket *roll*
"wow...have to get to hueco -- rwaltermyer " that's not Hueco Tanks
hahaha- you too?
hehehe. Jay, you're a clever boy. Ben is too :)
Actually, my K1000 LIVES AGAIN!!! :D Ed, luv, you wanna ropegun? hahaha
wallress, I've had people accuse me of that when I clearly DIDN'T have the rope behind my leg and was actually traversing. Lots of cautious people here... and tools, too.
Oh, she's precious. And lucky to have you for a step-daddy :)
If anybody could read, and knew anything of Sedona rock quality, you'd wonder why there isn't a toprope there.
This problem has "Kole" written all over it :P
Kinda looks like Obe.
Elvis, hunny, you GOTTA climb with me, and I'll take a hottie shot of you too. Even if you do wear that striped polo shirt. heh.
hahaha. Jay must love this ;)
Everybody, relax. And cloudbreak... you're bald anyway ;)
Naw, what's funny is that this is getting 1s...
That is a fine specimen of ass- quite worthy of my face!
Is that an old-skool u-stem Camalot? I have some of those! :P
this is the "easy" warm-up route, right? hehe
Your comments are all almost as cute as Kaitlyn herself. She's a dear, and she's tough! Can poop in the woods with glee, and when she trips and takes a face plant, she doesn't cry. Ed got a good deal ;)
We love this shot for its color and DOF. Oh, and it's a slab, who doesn't get excited over slab? ;D
Did it hurt when your head and hand got chopped off? ;) I just hope you didn't bleed on the rock- it's cool looking.
You're a brave man, petsfed ;)
the back of a shirt and a ponytail are enough to be hot, eh? guys really do please easily ;)
You lost your granite virginity THERE? that's like losing your real virginity to a hooker with scabs around her mouth ;) hehehe
Is Elvez as hot as rumored? That shirt only confirms it- YESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
Somebody always makes misinformed comments about rope placements like that. DURRRRRR, I say!
how fine would I be if I put on a striped polo shirt? The men of the world wouldn't know what to do with themselves!
I see your filling!
If I was going to snatch a hat, it would be Art's. Perhaps even his black dress-up hat :)
You have no idea how hot you're making me... hahahahahahahahahaha
The word you're looking for is phallic.
Tell me again why it's okay to make cracks at skinny girls?
Just leaning aginst the wall in my new hat ;) And knowing my landlord, if my wall did come down on my head, he'd charge me for it...
Yeah, seriously, the banana chalk bag really saps your otherwise-excellent shots. Not that it's not a neat bag, but...
That looks fun in a very warped way!
"rooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!! pant pant pant. I have fans, mom!" - Tilly
le toit du cul de cien... something about the dog's ass?
I often leave my ATC on my harness, just out of habit, so whatever. But belaying up a second on a sport climb is not "standard" ...
Pity about the chopped foot. Otherwise very nice. Dynamic.
Xtreme toproping calls for xtreme yoga! heh
In the back of my head, duh!
hot pink tank tops and cut-way-off cutoff shorts- when men were MEN, huh? :)
The 3rd image is the best. Could you submit that bigger, separately?
Schweet. Sometimes people listen to me :) 10 all the way. Were you in "burst mode" with your camera?
I love you, Ed.
heh. I'd have guessed "fat tickmarks" ;)
I really like the backdrop... too bad the climber kinda blends in
Duncan Steele... that's a cool name... can he bolt a route and name it Duncan's Steel? :)
hehehe. Sport boys... huge backs, no legs.
oh my god I love that. Poor baby probably had nasty fleas, but I am DYING.
gee golly, why would anybody pass up an offwidth?!
where's the dudebabe's Greenpeace beanie?
"Temptation Supreme" + Chris Lindner = joke too easy even for me (but I'll slyly make it anyway)
Elke cranks. Right on.
You clearly did not get the memo!
You have one of the most beautiful babies I've ever seen!
That's just a DOF glitch
Did Jay just say "fun slab" ?!?!
small hands? I fist jam #2 camalots. #3s just eat me. This could be the highest-rated shot of a 5.6 ever. Rightfully so!
Yeah, that's going to the FP in 5, 4, 3, 2...
Jason = Campbell?
HI MEG!!! *hug*
But he IS old. Not as old as Curt, though!
Bob's cool. He cranky the limestone, drinky the whish-key.
:) your human friends love ya too, baby!
I think it's the other way around, Curt!
hehehe. Good one!
I liked telling Bob that if you add me and Alex together, Bob is still older :)
...and then I got moist! Oh yes, I will ruin Amber. RUIN HER!!!
*claps hands joyfully*
You had to be there... but you weren't :( ;)
Well, I tried, but I guess I'm only so crushed that I can't properly quote Billy Corgan :P
I *heart* the K1000!
Are those the tennies you sent Bat Roof in?
Dammit, Kole, TRUTH HAS NO PLACE HERE!!!! ;)
They're getting big!
hehehe. It's a slab.
Kole's forearms are as big as my calves (maybe bigger)
KOLE!!!!!!! Nice mop.
They'll think I'm way too young and attractive and HATE ME EVEN MORE!!!!!!!1
The stitching on his shorts make it look like the rope is behind his leg. heheheh
burly, slightly hairy Mexican guys on boulders- I got a weakness for em.
Oh god, that shirt...
Score. I gave him that chalkbag!
ha. Bob strikes again! The rock is at Priest Draw in northern AZ. There's some really neat rock there.
I've played add-on on this boulder before.
elvis is a funny funny man!
Too bad you admit that it's posed. Still the best of the series.
"hot girls climbing nice" -- this just gets right to the point doesn't it? heheh
He doesn't even look like he's falling... just levitating... or is he not actually falling?
Should be rated higher...
elvis: oh, Go-Go on with your bad self!
Nice light. Never have been able to figure out that graffiti though.
He looks like a bald blur to me, but I will concede that he has a nice complexion.
That graffiti, weird though it is, is a part of Gloria's, IMHO. A PS job that big would be lame.
NICE, very nice. Must be a sweet wide angle lens you got there too ;)
DAB. Never use the backsides of your hands or fingers whilst bouldering!
Cute little barrette to go with that burly 5.13 climbing :)
I was hungry and was en route to Hueco Tanks. But yes, evil is never really far from my mind, especially when Curt isn't either!
Aww, Thom, you cute little bitty frog ;)
Climbing on my mind's contact lens ;)
I'm an artist, and you're a hero! :)
It's an OW for me, and probly for her too. It takes #3 and #3.5s toward the top. Flared, too. Yikies.
Yes, zozo. I can think of better climbs, but I won't stop you if you really must.
I find the flash too obvious and artificial, personally...
Is that hold as greeeezy as it looks?
Aww, you know you can go up to 120+ k!
unknot yer panties, dude. sheesh. Too bad you don't use PS because this image screams for at least a once over with auto levels to correct the scan. It's a bit dark.
People don't get ink done like that, then wear backless tops, if they're shy about people looking and commenting... Not judgmental.
digital... Pentax *istDL
The Amazing One-Legged Girl sends! :) (sorry, I'm a dork)
Spotter hands give a sense of teamwork, and height... and I wouldn't want to crack my back on the ground beneath that roof, assuming I could get on it in the first place. It's not really a nad-dragger, and the topout looks downright scary.
Big gold reflector?
OK, I'll try again... sarcasm!! ;)
HUSKIES!!! at the crag, on leash, bein' adorable. Just like my kid. rooooo!!!
The fisheye is a bit much here
Original. I like it.
The color is very... blue
Party of six?!
I predict lots of girly squeals of "awwwwwwwwwwww" in this photo's future... here, let me start!
This effect's been done a LOT but it's fresh and engaging here. I think the chalk helps a lot. Good work.
Damn, I see I'm late on the dab-calling.
Dale is a fashion maven :)
Whoa, what happened to the bombers? I'll be damned!
He's just a lamb, really. But he needs a haircut, I see!
Curt's a Rockette, man.
You've got a good eye, beeveebee
elvislegs' striped-polo-shirt-at-the-crags monopoly is OVER!
I think I suggested dressing brightly... but the polo shirt was all Sean for sure
I actually took the red down a bit... that's how the pic turned out. Digital.
Please bring Curt food, and some sunblock for his dome, and maybe a little radio. It's awful lonely and quiet up there. hehehe. (actually, the walk-off is on the back, and easy)
I hope not, Phil ;)
I feel like I should make a joke at your pants' expense, but I don't think I'd be the first ;)
Sooo close. The focus appears to be on his shoe, not his face, and with a hat that trippy it'd be good to include the whole thing.
True true... your wish is my command, Tim. Sorry, Kole :)
Kixx on Dix! (thank you, thank you)
Why is that, Alex?!?!?! :P
I wear hoop earrings every day, and have you heard of Lisa Rands? Elevation... at an Oklahoma gym? Save the indignation for, uh, somewhere else... (sorry, just my opinion)
I'm not seeing socks. You sure that's Dale? ;)
The vignetting is distracting.
Gee, thanks punk_rocker, connossieur of fine art-cum-photojournalism
He SAID it was his sister, you tools!
Whoa. The Nic Cage-alike-ness is creepy!
Too improbable a position to be compelling... sorry.
Aww, cute, you don't spell like an American anymore! ;D
That knot on the tree in the foreground looks like a little monkey. Anybody else see that out of the corner of their eye, especially on the smaller version?
Send It, 12c direct, 12a using arete. Or so I'm told. Milagrosa, as you may have noticed, is a bit stout.
I think being in the shade just made for some cold blue-ish light. The raw version was much bluer.
Reminds me of my homeboy Kole.
It'd look even crappier. Remember, I gotta huge lens ;)
Actually, this particular route IS kinda... grubby.
Nice krux face, babe ;)
Yeah. That's you!
If that WERE nicolas cage all the pissants here would squeal that his millions bought him the fast track through the sport, that he's a little bitch, and his Rocktown dynos are piddling and should not be acknowledged by the REAL dirtbag4lyfe climbing community. Like, for duh.
I see a blue alien and a small TCU (?) underneath 180+ pounds of pure Arizona beef. hehe
I see the Little Red Cooler! :-}
My 7th grade gym teacher wore shorts like that... jumping jacks... scarred for life...
Most of the carvings are old enough now to approach human history... and yeah, the moderate slab you probly scrambled up onto was probly a little nervewracking. Lots of exposed choad in that area.
Word to the wise Stark (since you're pretty new): complaining or even mentioning bombs will only get you more.
I'd pay to see Bob bouldering in his work uniform.
It's hard to get a tan when under roofs too low for pads! ;)
Wait... upon closer inspection, I do believe I see a little scotch tumbler on top of the LRC. Sweet.
Did Kole get a job?? HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Her rope is fine. But go on witcherbad selves...
The subtle yellow-brown tones are really nice. Is that a natural sun flare or a PS enhancement? Either way, I'd love to see this bigger.
I see underpants
Oh for god's sake. Righteous enough? Does anybody know ANY Hueco history?
His arm is over his face. Loss of style points. But style points regained while tossing sicky-sick gnar-gnar-mo dynos shirtless in Utah in February.
Nice shot, too bad it's so dark
People who wish they were this strong will look for stupid shit like "bad"racking to comment on...
Nice to see a new angle on Scarface, which has the second-most overplayed "purty horizon shot" after Ironman Traverse.
blah blah blah community college? That'd be funny if you weren't still studying for the ACT.
That's how I wear my hair too... I also thought it was a shirtless ripped chick. I thought, super burly girl!
I TOLD you Merrick, I TOLD you! One of the two obvious comments has been made. Now let's see who's unfettered by political correctness (either way) for the second one!
I really like this. Less than perfect but who cares this time? Striking spot.
Simon Carter is SIMON CARTER. He's shot everything.
Chalk? All I see is a really goofy toque.
Holy crap! This is near Fresno?! The fog is the perfect touch.
Ironically, people eat up the contrived and posed photos of carefully-dressed, pretty climbers. I had no question that this was a real, natural moment shot with professional glass by someone who knows what he's doing. People question it because they don't get shots like this with their crappy P&S's or consumer DSLRs with kit lenses unless they run it through PS.
Resourceful, yes, but "lucky?" "Lucky" would be living in a place that is surrounded by, oh, rocks!
Yes, the distortion is caused by a fisheye/wideangle lens. But damn, orangecrush... grab one of the aforementioned chill pills.
I don't live in the mountains either, Summer's Eve...
This is not my dog.
Reminds me somewhat of Mt. Lemmon/Windy Point.
Normally I think school buildering photos are silly, but I got a smile out of this one. There's a Kuyper building at the University of Arizona in Tucson too.
Oh, it's totally not a candid. But I had done the problem already, and this was how I did it.
I'd like to see a photoshopped shot of this problem and the others in the area with all the chalk removed, just to see what those slopers looked like when they were virginal.
He's a little man! Congrats, that's a handsome boy you've got there.
Man. With chicken legs :)
OK, I'll be the one- wtf is a "creamy bokeh?"
They're there. I promise.
Love the climber husky! (or is it a malamute?)
Diez! Por supuesto!
3rd class? 3RD CLASS?! Do you knott no who Kole is? He's a fuggin' hero. This shizz is at least 4.15, and he's getting the on-sight. You don't get to see such dramatic, striking pics of ascents like this every day. No respect, I tell ya.
This wouldn't be on the FP if the gal wasn't wearing that stringy top. (but it does look like a pretty cute top)
Heh. That's how I climb that route too... of course, for me, "perfect fists" is a #2 camalot. This is nasty OW territory for me...
Jay is photogenic but he looks short. That's ok, any guy whose dome I can rub without having to get on a step ladder is fine by me ;D
The rock (and lichen) IS the subject
Oh my god my sides are sore from the laughing. Don't worry rc.com, I'm not laughing with you... just at you.
I'm sure she's just SWOONING at all y'alls smooveness.
Silhouette. And the green is kinda... nuclear. (not in a bad way)
What fakeout? It looks like it shows the true steepness. And as somebody who has hung directly above a climber on a vertical wall many times, this is exactly what that POV looks like. Flipping it makes it look like he's on the sidewalk, and we know that's not the true orientation. If all photos were showed at sidewalk-orientation, all you critics would complain about it. The only thing I think could be improved here is the white balance. Go into PS --> autocolor and the skin and rock tones look much more natural.
It's horizontal because there's a ledge a couple of bolts below the climber, which was distracting. I also liked the sloping scree cone that is the base right now (a trail has not been built) The woman on the left is an onlooker, not the belayer. The belayer isn't really visible at this point because she's half under a slight overhang. Yes, that's a stache. And Doogle, where are your above-average shots?
Lawd, just cause it has a bolt doesn't mean it's not trad! *mutters off in a slightly delirious sleep-deprived state* :)
Valarie- honestly, if I were you, I just wouldn't submit any more photos of you climbing, at least not in summer wear. It sucks but the men here can go from well-intentioned (if awkward) compliments to crass, gag-inducing, construction worker catcalls, and frankly, they're beyond rehabilitation. It appears to bother you too, and I'm very sorry about that. Unfortunately, I think in this instance it's best to just not allow any photos on here, because the fools can't be trusted.
Does it NOT look like a sidewalk this way, oh critics? ;) Whatev, nice shot.
I hope she's happy to have this shot! I'd be :)
He didn't barn door but he had to put his mind to the crux...
I think there was gear available, she just didn't need or want it.
And 5, 4, 3, 2..........
...ONE! Thank you, thank you.
Aww, is that Hamlet?
Oooh. Who led it?
Get over yourselves. Aimee and her fetus are still way beyond most here in terms of climbing knowledge, ability besides.
Cambria. Cool name!
You did it! When am I going to meet this little angel? I love the husky pups.
I didn't know saguaro cactus grew in Venezuela. I've only ever seen them in Arizona and Sonora, Mex.
Why is sidepull "dumb and stupid?" His points have merit. I think it's technically a very nice photo myself, but he's right, drama isn't a huge factor in this scene. He would have been more impressed if the scene were more dramatic. But so? That's his opinion.
Pretty cool, but you should tweak the white balance.
Looks like our own mother_sheep.
One of the best who's touched stone... not touching stone ;)
I know there are two camps who like to go back and forth on this, but: if you rotate it 90 degrees clockwise, it's more powerful. It also makes more sense to me, visually.
*generic flirtatious comment* Oh! I know! NICE TEETH!
I'd say by the looks of it that his partner is weighting the rope and air-climbing anyway. My partners look pretty similar when I'm sitting, except they're standing up.
Phil m'love, don't you know, red shirts don't work when the talent is climbing red rock? This is when you bust out the royal blue shirt :-D I dig the fog, makes it very moody.
Not to take anything away from your timing, lighting, etc., but a lot of people are looking at her string bikini first. I guarantee it.
Why can't the wind constantly be blowing through MY shirt?
People, the thumbnails that show in a strip on the front page are simply a matter of what was the most recently approved by the photo eds. There's no need to flame a guy for a silly profile photo.
Wow. Dave Graham isn't a big guy but he looks exceptionally tiny among all that limestone.
There's a man in a red shirt! ;) (heehee)
It's a girl standing on a ledge, folks.
You must be a nooyoozer if you think people won't now get contrarian on purpose... ZOMG!!! IT'S SO REEL AND RAW!!! SIX STARZ!!!!!!!11
Fitzie, you just ruined your own fun more than mine ;-D
I spy Sauza...
OMG RED SHIRT!!
OMG Sanjaya's gear!!
sticky_fingers is going straight to Hell in an asbestos-lined bikini ;)
Good shot. Maybe better as a vertical? (either way)
You elitists shoulda invited a donny wannabe to join your BET climbing junket. I coulda taken slightly radder photos than this. (though only slightly) Pee-Ess: is AB now officially on the record as a sp1rchul cr1mnalz?
I would have given this six stars if only the photog had gone to the trouble of putting the talent in a red shirt and hauling studio lighting into the woods. If only!
There's a church on Woodlands Village and Kaibab with a roof-ground icicle. And my porch steps could afford some lilliputian fun if turned on their side! Oh, and check out the ice at the Daily Sun...
Sidepull was born a man too. FYI.
Topropping is almost as bad as toperoping and topropeing! Bastards and their mispeled bad style!
I was gonna say something about the hibiscus shorts, but newbie beat me to it. And I was gonna get mad but then I thought- newbie's back! Where ya been, chick?
Well, this is one way to buck the OMGRedShirt + strobes trend!
I would like to point out that all the negative comments are from men. (This one doesn't count.)
I don't usually like color tats but that one's pretty.
Sus is a cool girl. But when I met her she had an entire right foot.

I'm sorry, I just couldn't resist"
You really should have resisted.
Chouinard, eh? You must get a lot of questions about that.
Boondock! I remember you :) Got any new self-portraits of your back? heh.
*furiously PMs pen palz in teh BET werld*
Your write. I failed. I did not furiously pee-emm. :( *non-furiously flogs self with wet ramen noodle*
Artz status as THE cute, Singha-drinking azn in a straw cowboy hat is being srsly threatened.
Crop out that blown-out spot on the right and you have a pretty neat shot.
Hitchcock is the coolest 30-foot pile of 5.7 munge you'll ever climb. Truly.
Hi Dale!! Hi Dale's socks!!
Can you make one that says ASDF?
Viva el Bob!
Is the photog's foot off-route? :P
Dara Torres- not Phelps, but an amazing swimmer nonetheless.
This reminds me, happily, that I just bought a push-up bra! They actually make them in my size! How I love boobies ;D
could be on a calendar, except C is actually climbing and didn't dress herself out of a wardrobe trailer.
