Now THAT'S trad climbing... stripped down to the bare essence. -- DMT

3 out of 5 stars Hey, I've climbed that. Your girl friend must be toting a sack!

View this Photo
Enough of this penile humor! It's embarrassing. Put's a whole new meaning to "Girth hitch it, and then 'head' on up" hehe.

I have an old vid - about Ron Fawcet. In that video a woman leads a crack. Sure looked like THIS ONE. You know the video of which I speak? Early to mid 80's I think.

View this Photo
Who's the A who sent this guy up that sans shirt! And shorts no less. Poor bastard. No wonder he looks scared!

Toes pointed? I smell Project Bandaloop!

I think the boys want a buggar and your budd is protesting a bit too much me thinks.

Dang Jay... you're OLD!

Nice shot of someone looking solid on a cool looking route. Veyr nice. JT512 definitely doesn't look like I imagined. And I don't mean that as a dig.

I know a pic of BELAY BETTY when I see one! Tell him I said hi.

View this Photo
Your friend appears to have the longest neck and the smallest head I have ever seen on a climber. Looks like a brontosaurus-on-rappel!

View this Photo
What, bouldering's not hard enough you have to add a 'laydown start w' a front lever half twist' just to make it more interesting?

View this Photo
A wuss.... riiiiiiiiiiight! A wuss leading a crack climbi the canyonlands is not your typical wuss I suspect. So if you're a wuss, where does that leave the likes of me? A wussy!

Spooky route.

You certainly don't need to learn to JUMP!

That's the same pack he was wearing when I saw him with EC Joe heading in to Temple Crag to "check out some stuff," three years ago. Amazing.

Read "American Gods." She's right out of that book.

View this Photo
aaaaaaa hahahahahahaha! Someone read the book!

Rock City Rules! Cut my teeth on southern sandstone, Lookout Mountain. Been seeing those signs since I was a wee tot. Didn't know such places were a nexus for Americanism, for American Gods.

Eat your children.

Yes, a very nice view. Tell Consuelo I said hi.

Yes, who would wear pants like that when climbing. Bad bad bad

Let me tell you something dirtineye... those cans were sucked dry, dry, dry. What, you think you're dealing with amatures or something? Scotch? My friend, this pic was taken on Cinco de Mayo. Scotch! We live in Old Mexico. The agave is our friend, senior.

The south is the home of TRAD. Traddists don't need no sissy west coast spotting! See, spotters have a different purpose down there. Their job is to SPOT where the climber craters so as to direct Deputy Joe Bob and his cousin Joe Bob the ambulance driver. If that doesn't work out, the Dep can point out your remains to the undertaker, his Uncle Joe Bob. Capice?

View this Photo
The thing that will just killya about climbing with Brutus of Wyde is this... each and every thing he is wearing in that photo has a specific purpose aimed at his climbing goal. From the bandana to the billowy white shirt, you can bank your money on the fact that Brutus has thought very hard for a very long time about what to take and how to use it. A McGyver with the worlds best multi-purpose. Hell, Brutus IS the world's best multi-purpose tool. He's a TOOL all right, a Craftsman. Cheers Bro!

Where's your anchor??? I wanna critique your anchor too! Jeez, isn't it great, you post a cool climbing pic and a few feel the need to tell you how to rock climb. I think your belayer would do better with yellow shoe laces and tighter pants, but thats just me...

YMMV

This is a great shot (and I happen to know where it is too!). Outstanding in fact. It really catches my eye. I love quality suset shots like this! (any shoes are climbing shoes if you climb in them!)

I remember watching a vid of Ron Fawcett and (?) Ken Wilson? Don't know who the chap was, but he led this route and he was damned funny doing it. As I recall the top out is flat as a table and he (Wilson I think) paws and basically flops over the top. Of course he was doing it on purpose to illustrate how smoothly our hero Fawcett actually climbs. Anyway, and all this, this is a Joe Brown right? She's a beauty and was a bit of a testpiece in her day?

Cottonwood, um hmmm. Not aspen, which have smooth 'canoe bark' like their relatives the birch trees.

The photo looks processed. Ironic, if its not.

View this Photo
The reason I said it looks processed - the climber has such sharp edges. Looks like those photoshop things coldclimb was creating for a while, where he was climbing his monitor or a toaster or something. Remember those? This photo gave me the same impression, the climber image superimposed on the background. Salute, that it is not. I still find it ironic however. (the irony is not about you or your shot though). Nice work. Sorry to imply criticism, I could have worded the comment better. Cheers.

I outfitted my dog that way once. He ran off with the pack on his back. When he came back.... no pack. Never did find it. Had my favorite Lowe sweater in it too. Larnt that day.... doggie only carries doggie supplies. YMMV.

I liked the small version and the title and the sunlight on the rail prompted me for a closer look, a rarity for me these days. In the enlarged photo you look super-imposed on the image. Is this post processing? It lends the photo an unreal quality. Otherwise I like it - the pic coupled with the title speak for themselves in a cool way.

This is not a sport route. It was established ground up, Star Dryvins (1/4 inch nailheads) placed from stances on lead. Twas my 2nd lead at Stone Mtn when I did it in the mid-80s and still sported those ancient bolts. Fun times! Not a sport route never will be either.
