greasey chalk slab... must be talking about fine 9?

very nice shot. would've liked to see more of the background to get a sense for the setting. jackson falls is a beautiful area.

keep up the good work

4 out of 5 stars great photo.. i think the climber could be doing something more exciting than standing there staring at the rock... but nice picture none the less.

that must be the type of climbing you can only find out west. There is some fine crags here in the midwest... but i'd never be able to find anything like that here. I'd love to try it. Great looking route and nice photo.

First: This is a very impressive shot and it has made it to my wallpaper.
Having said that: This shot looks a bit fishy to me. Take a look at the full size pic and check out a) the shadow b) the dude... i can't put my finger on it, but he looks little postarized or something compared to the rest. I'm not trying to detract from the picture at all... but anyone else see something wrong with it?

Newcastle IS great, but who was the wanker drinking miller light? I point out exhibit "A"... the bottle nestled in the rocks behind the brown baseball cap. Please tell me it was a remnant from some non-climber and that you packed it out with you.

3 out of 5 stars i agree. maybe if the climber was wearing a brightly colored shirt it would work better. Try it again and i think you've got a winner because it's a great concept.

so people actually voted on this? I wouldn't have even bothered.

3 out of 5 stars i think it would be better of more of the climbing face was being hit by sunlight like the foreground to create some contrast.
nice pic though.

saw this picture show up in the random gallery and instantly recognized the place. .. I'm sure it's found elsewhere, but this type of rock is so indicative of " SO ILL" that it's unmistakable. at least to me... especially since that very route was climbed my first day outside as well. Keep on it man....

4 out of 5 stars I'm from illinois so I need some help... what are these "pitches" that people speak of? ;) Good shot of a great climb. There are so many awesome climbs on this rock. Master Marley and the garden route are my fav's.

5 out of 5 stars the rock makes it difficult for my eyes to focus on...it's like the vanishing point is changing or something. I like it!

4 out of 5 stars oh so a pitch is a climbing term? I always thought it was how you through a horseshoe... i wonder if that is how it got it's name? One pitch is equal to the total height you can throw a horseshoe straight into the air. ... i always preferred being at the top of the cliff for that game.

nope. looks more like something around the corner to the right from group therapy and psychotherapy.

4 out of 5 stars Screw that. Have the naked chicks haul YOU up! That would, in fact, be pimptastic.

4 out of 5 stars what is the point of this? Watch out because you might fall? or watch for falling people? If it's the latter, it's quite disturbing that it happens so often that a sign is warranted.

I love it.

sucks about the date stamp. I'd clone it out.

be honest... you didn't even really need a couch... you just wanted to show the wife/gf that your climbing gear expenditures were finally justified.

4 out of 5 stars i am agreeing... looks like some PS work here. The Tat is WAY red.

3 out of 5 stars so would this be "SUPER dry" tooling?
... that definitely looks like bounty...

4 out of 5 stars i like it a lot... i'm on the fence about the border, but it's not affecting my vote. The only negative to me is the helmet. It really stands out and ands some sterility to it somehow. Maybe choose something with some color to it next time? I dunno, at least to my eye it looks weird. That being said... AWESOME shot!!!!

cool pic, but should be in the "artistic" category.

5 out of 5 stars i actually did do a channel mixer, but had to leave in some of the green and blue channels or the foreground looked all funky. I agree the tree halos are distracting.... might do some more work on it. Thanks for the tips!

5 out of 5 stars Thanks for the comments and suggestions. I think I'll rework this a bit and re-post. Thanks again.

I might be imagining it, but it looks like it might be an artificial DOF created in PS. Not that it matters much, but something looks a little odd around the edges of the boulder. Other than that, excellent shot. And I LOVE jackson falls. fantastic.
