If this was near me in the Midwest, it would have its own state park and climbers would drive hours to stand in line for a climb
Even if you don't like rockclimbing, this photo is the definition of a 10. Human drama, raw beauty of nature
Yeah, the team that tried the funnel has been hanging out at the base ever since ;) Wow.
Are those elf shoes? What's his right hand grabbing
Darn it all Micah, you've got to quit torturing me with these photos!! I have got to get back up to Alaska.
- Stuck in Michigan
Nice pic. A little dark but it captures the mood. It's beyond comprehension to me that this photo is getting low 8's average, while "Suzy Q. poses on boulder again" gets low 9's
I hope you get distributor pricing with all you buy?
If it embarrasses you, feel free to send it to us here in the midwest, we'll worship it :)
Uh, you didn't happen to play with the saturation on this photo, did you? It's permanently burned into my monitor now ;)
A site called rockclimbing.com has some info in the routes page. Foraker is for experienced, self sufficient mountaineers only..if you have to ask, you're not ready
That pile of chalk might be a clue where the next hold is...
Looks like the rope is already coming tight, and he's a long ways off the deck. How did he end up only 1 meter off the ground again?
I like it. Two climbers, a rope, and a nasty rock. Simple and clean. But man I hate slopers, I feel weak just looking at it.
I have a love/hate relationship with this photo. I love the composition and how it pulls you in and makes you feel like you're there, but I hate how much it makes me realize I'm NOT there and probably won't be anytime soon :( A solid 10, best photo on this site in a while
Great pic, feels like I'm there. Elvis, great comment, especially the Subaru part :). Who are all these folks that are so surprised that Idaho has mountains??? Ever look at a map?
sidepull, do you pack out yer crap? If not maybe *you* should stay out of the mountains too ;) overheard: bark! bark! "What's that Lassie? Timmy is trapped in an avalanche on the other side of the lake?!"
I got tendonitis just looking at this photo. Nice.
I think it's great. Nice to see something different.
This is what climbing is all about IMHO
Photo is way too dark. Am I the only one who thinks pre hanging draws is bogus? Not to take anything away from this climber, I couldn't touch this
too much blur, too much chalk, too dark
12dR wow I'm truly impressed.
I like the lighting. Not every photo has to be a sunshiny day with Betty on a hard sport toute
I bet ice climbers would disagree. Then again, they're not sane.
Let me be the first to say - hi res please!
Gotta love the standards around here. Guy doing FA of 5.12R trad and everyone makes fun of his clothes. Some chick climbs 5.12 overbolted sport in a tank top for the 50th time and everyone says what a great photo it is. I like the hat, it takes guts to be an individual. Rock on!
Reminds me of the X-Files where the guy was half lizard half man and could climb on the ceiling.
Tones look a little saturated. URL annoying. 7
The very first thing I thought when I saw this was whoa, back off on the saturation. I doubt that's what you were going for. Tone it down and resubmit :)
Nice. East Butress is the first place I ever climbed.
Nice sunset, wrong website
Next time someone asks why I climb I'll show them this. I can, no I WILL climb there one of these days.
make that 5 LOL
Best ice photo I've seen on here. 10
That tree has bomber roots to defy gravity like that. Nice pic ;)
Impressive. Hope to climb that hard some day.
Is she on a cell phone?
kinda surreal, looks like a movie set 4/5
Nice pic. I wouldn't touch that formation with a 10 foot ice ax, looks like it's just waiting to collapse on someone.
how many pitches? Click on the climb name and note that it sez "4 QD's + anchor", or note that it's in Illinois, and you'll realize it's single pitch.
Muy bonita! I've been to Saltillo twice (not climbing) and recognized this photo as being from that area right away! Beautiful area and wonderful people!
James Brown's half-brother?
Why is he lugging that big ole cam? Looks like small placements.
definitely NOT front page worthy
Looks like a meteior crater! Nice shot
BEST COLOR COORDINATION EVER! Grey and orange rock, grey and orange clothes, cam even looks grey and orange!
Out of focus and washed out, buttshot, toproping a 5.7 and I see a bolt! Why did you post this?
Keep it up you smooth talkers, women love desperation
Don't like the fisheye, looks like someone did a bad photoshop effect
I've seriously seen better gym climbing shots...there are some lonely, desparate climbers out there giving this 4 or 5 stars.
another quality front page pic, get a life guys
Great photo, how'd you set that up?
5 stars for your own photo?
What a beautiful line
Got rope drag?
we need a photo "killfile", clearly.....
That is a great, fresh perspective!
Mario is exactly what I thought when I saw it. If you send it, maybe there's a power mushroom on top?
Great photo BTW, keep 'em coming
Not to be a nerd (too late), but based on a density of 2.75g/cc, the totem pole would weigh in the neighborhood of 6-7 million lbs. I don't think even a 250 lb climb will topple it any time soon....
5 stars for the hideous dyno and what appear to be blue jeans.
Why does a boulder problem have chains?
Top roping...grey rock...grey sky..can't see climber's face....oh, but it's a girl.....5 stars!
Here's a clue guys, no one has ever gotten a date by stalking photos and giving out stars and crude "compliments"
horizon is tilted, I don't see any climbing?
finally, a pic worthy of the front page
oversaturated, dark, climber's face is blurry.
Nice pic, but pretty obvious you overdid the saturation, especially blues.
Do they make a full auto for grid bolting?
I'd place a big bro up there, think they'd mind?
Hey! I've been there, and I looked up at that roof and thought - I wish! Nice send.
Someone please put this pic out of (our) misery....
That...is orange. A little too orange.
Great pic. suilenroc, what's wrong with you? 2 stars?!!
Great pic. I've seen goats, white of course, in the mountains of Alaska like this, and I'm jealous how they can scramble up a 60 degree slope as fast as I jog on flat ground!
Ignore the "photoshop" haters!
zomg!! a real live girl!!!! 10 stars
Man I hated those pajamas with the plastic feet, sweaty damn things.
ur gonna die!!!!!!!11111
Washed out colors, boring composition.
FA? How did that bolt get there? Handdrillonlead4lyfe!!!1111
For once, a picture of a female subject posing that I can appreciate. Something really neat about the absurdity of bouldering in a nice gown, and the color is striking
Nice work. Summer 2011 can't come soon enough!
Little bit too much saturation, and the tree is too distracting, otherwise great photo.
I was drawn to this like a moth to a flame cuz I love Alaska. But aside from a thin argument that the Stellar Sea Lions are climbing, not sure the relevance here....cruisepics.com? I know it's hard to get good pics in that envrionment, but this is really washed out. I have some pics of Kenai Fjords I took with a point and shoot that are far better, check your settings...I remember one time in PWS watching the adults flop around in a roookery, they'd bowl over and smash the pups with total disregard, and the pups would object quite noisily...very entertaining. Anywho......
I hear this route goes at WI CS4
Is that some sort of funky sandstone? Great pic!
Mommy, where do baby rocks come from? Scary how much you and I think alike sometimes, dingus
So sick of this photo...not a bad pic per se, but 5 stars? I'm sure clausti is a very nice person, but she's average looking at best. Nothing wrong with that, but holy big fish in small pond. Lots of lonely climbers.....give it a rest guys.
I didn't realize I was redirected to boringlandscapeshots.com
This pic makes my forearms hurt. I like it!
Seems like he should be spotting him until he makes the next clip....belay looks useless at this moment.
The sheep's like, what are you looking at punk? I flash your projects on my way to the watering hole!
Sweet. I've always wanted to visit there. My greatgrandmother was from "the old country", her name for Czechoslovakia, and spoke fondly of it.
Great pic. Something very athletic about it.
Oversaturated but otherwise a nice perspective
That does it. I've seen enough cool pics of Mt. Lemmon that it's going on my to do list.
Those are chemtrails, ur gonna die1!!!!! In all seriousness, good pic, really different.
Did my first ever lead near there. Recognized it right away, nice pic!
Also like to say I appreciate that the photo is well composed and NOT photoshopped. A little haze in the background distance is nice to see.
Awesome. Is the rock solid on this route?
I bailed on that route, but my 4 year old soloed it like a boss.
A great reminder why I never come to this site anymore.....
