A GREAT picture from my home area!
So what you're saying is...for the computer-digital...and to frame and put on the wall-film? Because I can't get over how sharp everything is in thsi picture.
Great shot! I can see I'm going to have to go digital. My flatbed scanner just doesn't get the clarity that your shots have. Composition is great in this shot-well balanced, variety, etc. Brought back memories again of when I lived at Cottonwood in JTree NM.
Nice shot! GREAT composition!
I second OOH's motion! Great shot!
Great shot! Very unique. The composition is very unusual but good!
Awesome photo and view! Was the exposure as great as it looks in the picture?
I've heard that you ARE mean!~smile~Nice photo T.
This needs to be pointed out to Sickle for ad purposes.
Looks like a booger!
Russ...I knew I was taking a chance approving this vulgar shot but Doug paid me a handsome sum so I had to~LOL~Don't ban us from the site! Please?! Nice shot...If you are a REAL man though, you'll get a birthday suit shot from the summit of Denali!
Awesome shot! Keep 'em coming! Makes the photo editor job worthwhile!
Doug...You look like freakin' Barney Fife! Ugly is an understatement!ROTFLMAO!!!!!
And I though I had some great sunsets! This is a GREAT shot!
Nice picture Andy! I like to see people climbing with socks too. I was beginning to think I was the only one.:)
Did your "trained attack beaver" get away and you're looking for it? I can't believe the pedestrians didn't act like anything unusual was going on!
That is a cool picture! You looking down and the rope running through the placed pro gives this shot great depth of field and a true preception of height.
I want you to know that you just cost me my job as a photo editor!
Great pic! Looks like a 'natural' Sphinx!
Awesome shot! I got dizzy just looking at it on my puny computer screen!
Man!! That really sucks!! Get with Polarwid and he'll teach you how to do alpine climbs the right way!
Great picture! That horizontal crack is so perfect I thought it was a splice in the picture! The colors in the rock are unique=pretty cool!
OUTSTANDING SHOT!!!Showing that much of the rock is definitely an asset to the picture. Too many bouldering shots just show a close-up of the climber. It is nice to see the whole problem that the climber is working on and not just some unidentifiable patch of rock. Nice job!
I hate you!
Nice shot! I really like unique shots-especially silhouettes. This pic rules!
Nice shot Andy! Quit ripping off my photos!LOL
Yeh, right! You are just holding a puppet out there with a stick!LOL...Actually I think that is an awesome picture. Very unique...I love those silhouettes!
GREAT SHOT! I love the composition and good job with the depth of field!
Gorgeous..best sunset I've seen.
Nice picture. I like the fact that you got a lot of the rock in the picture so we get a better idea of what the problem entails. Nice job!
I really like this shot. Even though it is a tad blurry, it gives it a sort of surreal look. Light looks dim so a low shutter speed probably had to be used.
Christophe...I like this shot and all of your shots from Castle Rock. What a great place! Did you climb in "The Cave" while you were there? I usually go there in February when the weather is bad so The Cave is a great place to get in out of the rain. Mr. Magoos is the problem I yanked a tendon on.
One of the best things about being a photo editor is being able to see GREAT shots like this one BEFORE anyone else does. Nice!
I love the depth of field in this shot. Good to see someone else takes scenic photos of the climbing areas instead of the same old 'action' shots!
Cool colors! How could you not give this pic at least an eight? Definite 10!
Nice picture. This route sounds like my kind of route...fun to fall off!
Great Picture! Even if the moon WAS added in!
Absolutely the most adorable kid I've ever seen (besides mine)! What a cutie. That kid better be glad his mom is good looking cause after seeing pics of his dad...:)
Dang Russ, You look okay in a cowboy hat! I take back that comment I made on lil' cowboy's picture. Nice family! Made me smile after a bad day at work.
Russ...weren't you ever taught that PRIDE was a bad thing? Oh well, I guess I'll let you be proud in this case!
dime...I resubmitted it for you...looks a lot sharper doesn't it? However, I forgot to crop out the roadway, sorry. It still looks pretty good.
My kind of picture! My kind of setting! Doesn't get any better than this!
Hey, Kagunkie! That is a nice Mini-14 Stainless .223 caliber you have there. How did I miss this trip? Climbing AND guns! Can't beat that!
Awesome! I want to be there!
Yah right! How did you digitally put my body on that horiffic face! I am going to sue! How dare you defame me like that!
You aren't kidding! That girl at the bottom has her hands over her ears. Still, his singing can't be as bad as hangerlessbolt's!Ha, Ha!
Great pic! Before I checked to see where this was I could have sworn it was near Cave Wall at Lake Tahoe. How could this picture be rated so low? You must have enemies too, Salt.
I love this picture. The most dramatic piece of rock I've seen!
I found it! Here it is.
Cool! Where is the "Finger of God"? Isn't that in the same area?
Unique! I like it.
Totally awesome picture! Thanks for sharing it. A definite 10!
DUDE! HOW DARE YOU TEASE ME LIKE THIS!THAT IS NOT FAIR!
Hey Brad...nice pic! How did I miss this one?
You are a cool dad and she's a cool climber!
Dang Tom, You weren't kidding about those cams! I want to know, did anyone take a whipper on them?
Looks eerie. Was the weather pretty bad? The photo makes me feel like I am there.
P.S. If this was submitted on 3-20, why am I just now seeing it? Just curious. Too good of a pic to be passed by.
Cool! Why is the image so small? He was probably singing "It's Hard to be Humble" while cranking on this route!LOL
Cool photo! Love the intensity in your face!
Absolutely awesome!!!! I am going there...well, I am as soon as I win the lottery!
Awesome shot! Professional quality shot submitted under low-you get it! I am going to link this shot to the photo submission thread as an example.
Now THAT is a cool shot! Awesome!
Absolutely awesome picture! Maybe you could compress it just a tad so it would be sharper.(I'll do it for you if you want). That is one of the best alpine scenes I have ever seen! Great job!
Nice shot. I like the way you framed the shot to show where the climber has to go. Too many shots show close-ups and don't really show much of the route.
Lookin' good Kristin!
Julie, Did you notice how small those trees look from up there. At least you were still smiling after your first "high altitude" fall!:)
She is a great gal and great climber! I enjoyed taking the pic!
Awesome! I don't know how your pictures come out so clear. Must be digital.
Cool photo! Makes the ones I took of Chris look cheap!
Nice pic Jeremy!
Great composition! I like this shot a lot! It looks like a place in my home area. I guess I'll have to go click on the link and find out.
I like the angle you got on this shot. Good composition also. Digital I assume? I can't get my prints to scan with this clarity.
Adam, I can really relate to this route!:)Nice pic!
Did you blur the background digitally or when you took the pic? either way, awesome effect! great pic!
I lightened it up for him on my software. Hope it looks better. What happened is the camera had an area meter that took readings on the bright background. Or, if it was a spot meter(the center of the viewfinder) it could have taken the reading on the background also. Some cameras have a lock that is perfect for pics like this...you put the spot meter on the subject, lock in that reading, then frame the picture and take it. It will expose the subject properly without regard to the background. Another option is to use a flash for fill-in. BTW, great pic!
Cool shot! Were you just leaning over the top, rapping, or what? I like the angle. Did you use a boom?
That is absolutely awesome! Looks like that chockstone on the top is a little loose.:)
Good job Adam! Nice pic!
Yeh, this picture is so nice some frickin' idiot gave it a three! I know because I gave it a ten and the next vote gave it a 6.50. EVERYTHING Karl submits is at least an 8-10! and don't give me any of that crap about every person voting their opinion, people are just being idiots!
Ammon, cool pic! did you finally go digital? Looks much better than previous scans!
Cool picture! I especially like the composition. I have seen similar shots where the subject was in the center of the pic and it didn't look that great. I like the way you have Karen positioned in the shot. The colors are great-especially the way they transition from bright at the top to dark at the bottom.
Dang! How did I miss this one? It's low rating shows how little people know about good photography.
I wanna be there!
Awesome photo! Great composition. I love the way the sun hits the tree in the foreground.
That kinda looks like it was taken from Daff Dome-not 120. Nice pic!
That is sooooo cool! Ammon will NEVER get me up there!
Cool shot! Did you mean to place this vertical shot sideways?
Speaking of Climbing and Rock and Ice, this pic is better than most of theirs!
Doug, if you submit any more pics of where you live, I am going to delete them immediately! It just is not fair to the rest of us!
Just shut up!Geeez! Rub it in!
Is that T. holding the rope? How far was that to the first bolt?
Awesome pic! Looks like a climb I have to try! I would probably cheat and stem up that chimney under your feet.
Nice pic Kelly! And taken by a first rate photographer!
I like the composition on this. Pretty cool shot!
Awesome! Gotta do it!
I like this shot. The angle is actually pretty cool instead of the bottom of the pic being parallel to the rock face like on most shots of this type. Might try cropping out some of the blurry rock at the bottom. I'll do it for you if you like.
"Look at that form!!!" He takes after you T.! Cute kid...almost as cute as mine!
dsafanda...yes it was quite dark...jab thinks I screwed it up but it looks great on my monitor...I don't know what he is referring to.
Is that better dsafanda? I brightened it a tad for him. I love this pic!
Cool pic! Can't read the description though.:)
That is cool! I need to do more exposed climbs like that...I am afraid of heights.:(
That is an awesome shot...I'll be there in two weeks...doubt if I'll be able to duplicate that pic!
Cool Jeremy! Very unique.
Cool picture...as are all your shots! I love alpine!
I like it!
Nice picture..I hate scanners. Maybe next time, don't center the climber...by putting him on the right side of the frame, you would get a better idea of the exposure...however, the rope running out to him gives it a neat perspective.
Great composition and colors!
Fantastic...where did you come from? Never heard of you and then one day you flood the site with these fantastic pics! Welcome!
That is awesome! What a cute kid! Almost as cute as mine! With that build though, he is going to be a mountaineer like me, not a sport/trad climber, sorry Russ!
Nice photo! Good use of the flash to get some detail against the bright background.
That looks like the build of a mountaineer. Not skinny enough to be a boulderer!:)
Jared...I locked it in so it will stay on top. Will remove it after Halloween.
That ridge that starts near the center of the picture and angles left to the lower summit...has that been climbed? If not, I'll do it in July with you Doug.
I love this picture. Even though the camera looks like it was leveled on you instead of the horizon, it gives the pic a unique quality. The flash(I assume a flash was used) is just right, not overpowering. The photo has a surreal feel to it.
Awesome...one of the coolest pics on the site!
Great shot! Don't you hate having to compress the jpeg and screwing up what was a perfectly clear picture? Could you e-mail me the original image?
Cool! Good composition. A lot of people split the horizon 50/50...this was done perfectly.
I recompressed the original image you sent me and inserted it here. Looks a little better with less distortion, etc. around your body. I took your original image and compressed it at 98 instead of the default 65 and it seemed to improve it.
That is a cool shot! Very unique.
The amazing thing is that Doug STILL climbs like this...even at the age of 50!
Who is under there?
I am going to find this place and put a few top anchors in for top roping the highballs. Sounds like a great place!
Reardon, I wasn't kidding. I am getting my Bosch and heading up there over Thanksgiving. I am not going to risk my life freesoloing/highballing!
Another cool shot...why aren't they in the mags? I wish you would just go away! You are making the rest of us wannabes look bad.:)
If more people would do this...they wouldn't have the crap problem that they do!
I still don't see how someone can act like they own th erock and say "No equipment/bolts/tools" etc. Makes me want to put some bolts in just to show them they can't order me around.
Absolutely awesome! I wouldn't have the nerve to do something like that on soft rock.:)
I hate top-secret areas! I never get to climb at them!:) Cool shot Tim, I climb by myself a lot too. I never have weekends off and climbing partners are hard to come by during the week.
The reason for the rule is sometimes people submit good pictures that get voted high and therefore onto the front page. It would look pretty stupid if a picture was on the front page with a caption like, "This is me climbing". Put some thought into it, like where you were climbing and what the route was like.
It would be too complicated to code it to make exceptions for certain categories of photos.
That looks like fun. Bomber placement on the tree, eh?
Cool! I am booking a flight back east now!
Doug, your pics are EVERY bit as good as the few that I have gotten lucky enough to get. I heard you had paid tribute to me so I had to log on and comment. Who needs my crap with your great shots on here?
