i have GOT to get to australia one of these days. neil, you are a badass. keep on shootin!
nice! this shot is different from all the others you see of this much photographed route. is it from a digital? the edges seem really crisp and not as "lossy" as a scan. i can't believe i haven't done this route yet!
does jorg take any bad photos? i'm beginning to think not. kudos mate!
ballerina in the sky...great light + good rock + hot girl = great photo!
hell, i wish i was belaying!
"mom, can me and billy go to the park and get on the 14b?"
sweet...looks like about 30 feet of rodeo slack there
IRON HAWK!!!! truly beautiful stone
ahhh...the rock, the move, the male pattern baldness...it works on so many levels. sickie!
the ladies sure look impressed
OMFG...must climb diamond...must climb diamond...must...send...diamond...guy's a little old for you don't you think? jk nice job
[singing] hey little grrlll...i wanna be your boyfriend [/singing]
...nor does the sharp edge it's gonna run over. cuidado!
hi brad. you could've improved this photo by orienting it vertically instead of horiz. that way the climbers wouldn't be so near the edge. also, slide film would've boosted the colors. the outrage wall looks incredible. just thot i'd critique since you did that same for me. thx!
i can sympathize with the scanner blues. you've got a lot of really good shots, db. in fact, when i was looking at your photos i pretty much decided that i am FOR SURE going to australia this winter. keep shootin, tex...
nice shot krillen. you should ditch the C41 process black and white and go for the real stuff.
YOU STOP THAT THIS INSTANT, YOUNG LADY!
mullet + moustache + pink tanktop = PARTY
this is "don't fall", a V3 on the swamp bolder
nice brad. keep it up!
heh, choss. great photo, ron. nice that you got a 96k photo this big and sharp. totally sweet.
damn, hillary...you are getting GOOD! keep it up...
*spank spank spank* oh yes oh yes oh yeah baby yes...
i can see your temple garments peeking out from under your shorts. your bishop won't think very highly of this freesoloing confoundery.
looks like 5.7 to me
nice tim. this is a scan, right? little too much sharpening but great shot.
this is my favorite in the series. excellent work, keep it coming.
yum. death lurking at every turn. yummy.
oh yeah. i bet you do.
i could totally turn this into a digusting picture with photoshop. totally.
holy effing red. this has got to be ektakrome. another great one, jorg.
another nice one. not only are the pictures good but you arrangement is well thought out. great work.
this is one of the few times i've seen a toprope shot executed beautifully. nicely done karl. 10
spooky clip? with a bolt at the knees? hmm. great photo, tho.
how many shots karl?
so uh yeah. all i do is click on the thumbnails with the hot bods. ayep.
oh man, is this thing just begging for a caption or what?
its not officially a wifebeater unless its white cotton. and has unidentifiable stains on it. so technically, it's still just a tanktop. good catch on the move, right before contact...
very nice. what kind of film? 10.
he's actually a diplodocus.
nice match with the rope and lichen. gorgeous rock.
DOF and composition are spot on.
pendos make aid climbing worthwhile
were you just down there? with cole? i think i met you guys in the supercrack/bulge parking lot. i recognize those pants. nice job on the onsight!
"i don't support that freesoloing bit."??? who the hell do you think you are mountaingoat8? no one needs your approval. shove it.
i am a free soloist. i didn't cast the first stone. so you can shove it too rwaltermyerweiner. %@&#.
i'm a little partial to slot canyons myself. oh yeah TALK TO BABY!!!
does he like pina coladas? sorry, had to say it since no one else was. this photo deserves a better scan (less sharpening). beautiful.
[zoolander]what is this? A CLIMB FOR ANTS??? it needs to be at least......three times as big![/zoolander]
oh gosh. i just don't approve of the freesoloing. it should be illegal. eww, i know what's best for everyone. eww. jk. nice job.
holy effing sketchy #6! slide that biatch in there deep before you wing!
inukshuk = inuit for cairn? beautiful.
i remember that epic. you guys rolling into boys town ready to lynch art. ever find out who the nutless coward was? scrubby?
it just makes me edgy.
nice one mark. did you do vertical smile linkup? i hope so. WAY better than triple overhangs first two pitches, which i thought sucked.
awesome variation of this often photographed route.
oh man oh man b-law. that thing is TITS! i need something like that for the desert tower approaches. is it a two or four stroke?
karlbaba: you have the best collection of el cap shots on the site, hands down. keep em coming.
karlbaba: you have the best collection of el cap shots on the site, hands down. keep em coming.
it's like a pink floyd album cover. very cool.
PTPP said Hit List. everybody run...
hey meagan, why the long face?
your camera lens is teh broken. EVERYTHINGS ALL BENDY. like that one time when i ate those funny plants. nevermind. i like rockclimbing. it makes me feel like a ghetto superstar. oh well, bye!
orange, get some of that velvia100! its nice. another great shot btw
holy $#!& i'm getting a chubb just looking at this virgin stone. delicious pockety goodness.
"...and she was all like telling me that they were going out together but i saw him at the mall with kim so..."
what film is this karl? i hope you made a nice print from this. full on mantleshelf material. good catch, perks of living in the valley;)
ya that's just craziness. pure crAZYness.
the fact that you totally pulled off a TR buttshot is all the more amazing. excellent.
YES EVERYBODY. SUPERCRACK IS THE BEST ROUTE AT INDIAN CREEK. THAT AND IHC. ONLY DO THOSE TWO CLIMBS WHEN YOU GO THERE. LIKE EVERYONE ELSE DOES. THERE ARE NO OTHER CLASSIC ROUTES IN IC. REPEAT, DO NOT VENTURE ANYWHERE BESIDES SUPERCRACK BUTTRESS.
OH YES. OH GOD YES. THIS IS GOOD SHTUFF. JOE LIKEY. I GO TAKE YOGA CLASS. MMMMMMM. I AM SORRY SAURON, TOPROPING LORD OF DARKNESS, FOR MY IMMATURITIOUS COMMENTS. BUT 4REALS FORGET ABOUT THE RING FOR A MINUTE AND RELISH THE WONDERMENT OF GIRLS IN DAISYDUKES DOING HANDSTANDS. OH MY GOD. SO HOT. CAN'T LOOK AWAY........
GET SOME SLIDE FILM. digital sucks. great shot nonetheless. and who %@#$ing cares what it's rated?
velvia 100? damn my eyes...
trad gear is hott!! I wish i could afford climber chicks.
NICE ASS. YOU ARE STUPID.
this would really cool if cropped as a long panorama, cropping just above the farthest mountain ridgeline.
andrew, i thought the rock was pretty good for tower choss. scary, made me puke, but not too chossy.
this deserves a much better scan. beautiful.
what's it rated?
i can almost hear Dio blasting full volume from an out-of-frame ghetto box. those ancient pictographs are ultra-sweet as well.
10. i think the composition is A+ as is, no cropping.
I am a sensitive young man who appreciates Kelly's inner beauty on this climb.
very beautiful. would make a great black and white.
that is great! are those normal sized tools?
GET DOWN FROM THERE YOU'LL BREAK YOUR NECK!
damn dude USE THAT GEAR! the shine is blinding me. i would like to see the skin desaturated (B&W) as opposed to blue. good catalog shot, but i'm pretty sure butch adams is the go to guy for all BDs studio shots.
excellent collage, fancypants. the only gripe i have is that there should be some space on the top and left sides of the perimeter to balance it.
"YHAT!" *SLAP* nice product placement.
big lare stud, the orangest slackliner ever.
great DOF for a digi shot. a little lipstick for ms. hotpants too. very good.
i'm willing to bet big lar was pretty high. *cough* LEASH WHIPPERS FO SHEEZY.
BAM. SO SEXY AND FINE. LIKE A NICE BLUEBERRY MUFFIN. I AM A TOTAL JERKFACE.
who loves short shorts?
it's a mormon pod craft.
BULLCRAP. PHOTOSHOP. YOU GUYS ARE FULL OF CRAP. YOU CAN'T WALK THOSE STRINGLINES IT'S A HOAX. A HOAX I SAY. STRINGLINING AIN'T HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH MOUNTAIN CLIMBING. FLOATER IS MY PERSONAL SALAD TOSSER AND HE LOVES IT.
oh my heck. i'm not gay, but if i was i would like totally hit that. nice shot.
awesome shot. i like the emptiness of the right side, like climbing out of the void. i think it's funny how negative comments come mostly from people who have yet to post a decent photo. keep it up. is this film or digital?
OH MY HECK!!!!
you do need glasses if you think larry is sexy. HA HA.
i agree with james, this is a nice scary.
livin' the dream.
GO CROTCH GO! DEPLOY THE ALIEN! TAKE IT TO THE TOP!
eyes...photoshop? sorry in advance...
Squirrely-Whirley is where it's at. all time best lot-bag rest day game.
big beautiful people eater
your going to go blind, you madman.
what's it rated?
good one mate. great cropping. keep it up.
it looks like the blur line is too distinct to be in-camera DOF. great shot, anyhoo. gotta get me a D70!
this photo is so goth.
great shot. i usually don't like borders but it looks great on this one. thanks for the photo beta as well. keep up the great b&w.
coldclimb, your photochop technique is unstoppable.
fun looking route. good catch on the high step, great photo.
moroneyk, is this a medium format shot or did you crop it square?
khan, the dof is not photoshopped. i used a 70-300mm fully zoomed. realistic looking dof is really hard to pull off in photoshop since you must "gradiate" the blur.
brilliant photo. the aussie photo posse CRUSHES.
i wish it was a tad sharper. very cool.
best ridge traverse in lcc. loooooooonger than you think!
this was the last route of their linkup of jah-man, holier than thou, honeymoon chimney, fine jade and the north face of castleton. all free, no falls in about 13 hours or so.
not only has this poor man lost his rope, but he's left his shorts on as well. invalid.
is that a private boulder for members? can you sponsor me?
lit by car's headlights? nice shot.
look at all the chipped holds.
interesting perspective of the notorious C4 greaseball lip traverse. good shot.
what a cool looking gym!
nice shot, bro. brings back lots of memories when we first climbed it. hope to see you soon.
10. gotta do the shield someday.
best crag in the wasatch.
this photo was hard to meter. the calcite on the wall was reflecting alot of the evening light. i bracketed the whole roll and about half were exposed correctly.
i love how everyone on this site rates pretty much <i>any</i> sunset photo a ten; a posed, non-climbing shot with zero thought put into it no less. sorry if i'm harsh, it's just one opinion.
digital capture? wish my shots were this sharp.
a fill flash would've helped here but still a great shot. this shot has not been overdone, at least i've not seen many. you are causing me to seriously consider saving up for a digital SLR. damn you.
looks like mr. rands' face is healing quite well. bridwell's got some mad beer bottle pitching skillz.
this photo deserves a higher res and appropriate photographer credit.
leg braces = aid. ascent is invalid.
survey says: powerspot dab. ascent is invalidated.
all around the world statues crumble for me. i-iiii just wanna fly.
first time i've seen photoshopped DOF look realistic. nice job.
i like how each progression zooms in closer. very cool.
the 10a variation to the right is much better. the fisher towers at sunset is truly a site to behold.
i know, not very sharp but i'm too lazy to photoshop it like a proper gentleman would.
i meant skier's right.
that moustache is THE JAM.
has sort of a calvin klein ad feel to it.
sorta looks like a guy to me too.
he's dropping the magnum on us.
prolly cuz it's all greased up with twenty more years' worth of chalk. nice shot
should've used the fill flash here.
i'll bet you do.
billy needs to eat a sammich.
well, i'll just have to give it a ten, just as a big "fuck you" to all slackline h8rz on the site. killer shot, chris.
it's definately worth the walk, camhead. there's other cool routes to do over there so you're not walking all the way just for this route.
it's at least 5.9c or d.
another excellent good shot that got passed over. nice shot, tex.
ditto. very cool.
YOUR MOM GOES TO COLLEGE.
did you two "break in" that mondo pad after the photo shoot?
classic. deserves to be larger
one of the better toprope shots i've seen. nice.
i love this shot, hillary. what a great facial expression
it's sport-trad, boardline. you can hang on a cam anywhere you want, but it's not very proper-like.
but if you clean the chalk off, how will you know what holds to grab when your trying to onsight the route?
hillary, not that jason. this is the lake monster.
and i see my stalker photo-bomber has issued his obligatory "4" to yet another of my photos. that's a pretty good strategy. keep trying, buddy.
Orangeoverhang submits another orange overhang! Love seeing the old dads out killing it. Excellent.
even the decapitated-woman-head thinks she's uber hot. photoshop DOF what? i like how homeboy camped it on the rock for optimum viewing. LOVE IT.
RUN EVERYBODY IT'S THE BRIDE OF DAVID BLAINE.
hah. i just met you guys few minutes ago. we were hatin' on the ditch in the shop. nice shot
nice shot(s). are you scanning the film or the print?
look at these jokers. nice shot chris, you must have busted out the camera after i left.
almost as good as your americanos, mdg.
nice mullet shield. "don't touch the back!" what kind of shoes are those? they look trick
a 10 for a great photo and creative rigging technique. nice on ya phil, i'll have to try trolley roping.
brilliant phil. very nice work.
very creative. medium format? or just cropped? my elbows hurt just looking at this
pfft. i'd ski that. ;) cool photo, dale
i've had way too much fun in that meadow.
nice mark. the glory pitch. i miss LPC.
this looks like a great location for a subdivision.
hey, when was this photo taken?
i'd do it.
looks like you're going for a sweet mid-air nut grab, with both hands. i feel this adds a much needed sense of style and flair to the whipper. top notch.
insane tilt-shift action
sick. nice job, even though i don't know what the fuck you just said.
great shot, i wish it was a little sharper.
oh yeah 10 for you phil
nice photo. the ten o clock high has been done but it sure beats the tilt shift fad that's been plaguing the mags lately.
cool light. perfect crop, kachoong by including the eq'd tcus in the shot. that looks like a quality run-out above them
i see the "headband over the hair-helmet" fashion that ron kauk pioneered in the 70's is making a comeback. nice shot.
IT'S LEONARD COYNE OH SNAP HIDE YOUR GERLFREND!!!
nice angle of pente. most shots are from the other side.
this photo says "road trip" to me.
two ticks for TWO THUMBS UP!!
i don't know, elvislegs. it looks all trad up there.
you should post this photo on 0friction.com
wow. 'nother 10 for you.
great colors! i love the gradiation from dark to light.
sweet shot. nice job, paul. the route was originally called "uncle john's handcrack" but people also call it "crack in the box". it's across from black sunshine, one of the best routes in the canyon.
you are correct, j_ung. thanks.
desert tower scrapbooking is the jam
traded it for what? beer? sex? panties?
wow, this is one hell of a photo. nice job, mate.
jesus h, talk about fucking up a perfect photo op.
HEY FUCK YOU TOO BUDDY.!!! nice shot, real climbers don't need sporto draws.
Cool how you framed the belayer's head. Good action shot.
sorry for the confusion!
dewd, i should caption these shits a little better. i got it of the internets but i don't remember where. the guy lived. he finished his work day and went home, later complaining of a headache, eventually going to the hospital. he'd make a good alpine climber.
you gotta love how the fisheye turns a boulder problem into a 30' solo. great composition. i only wish you'd snapped it just before his left hand hit the hold.
splitttttter. way to sneak that copyright in the choss.
ditto the above comments. i would try blurring using a selected and feathered area as opposed to using the blur or a brush tool. this will make the blur more gradual and mimic the tilt-shift effect you're going for. this is a cool photo, you should re-work it.
This is the greatest photo that has ever been witnessed by the human eye. More powerful than any photo ever known to mankind, or history.
I was too scared to get on that rig when I was last up there. It looked a little too pissed off for my tastes but maybe I'll head back up there. The Shipyard is a sweet little area.
that is some big time party slack going on there.
wow, thanks for uploading this 1200 x 798. i like the cloudy sky, it seems to bring out the definition of the granite better. can't wait to try the Canadian Route.
wow, tons of exposure even with a telephoto lens. this is what happen to the camera when the monkeys are going 'round the block.
I wanna do that little Scavenger ;) heh
so damn easy...when your feelings are such
camhead i'm down for the Cow. it looked nice over there from the tenderloin wall the other day.
sick nail up
i never saw this young man without a smile on his face. not once. goodbye, ian. moab misses you.
the climb is sent, the summit is here, the granite is golden. awwww shit it's time to FLEX
i wasn't asking you, asshole.
is the fire the sole source of light?
the only post-processing i did was clone out some ghosting of the tower and adjust the levels. this is a single 1/5 sec exposure at f1.8, handheld on the hood of my truck since i am tripod-less at the moment.
saw this in the AAJ. sick limestone tower in a beautiful setting.
larry loves the Unsharp Mask filter it appears. i like the horizon tilt, it adds something to it. not all photos needs to be by the book.
very good great
shoulda wore the full face MX helmet
