Here you go, Adam: the other SoCal climber who smokes.

5 out of 5 stars Good pic. Pulling up on these pathetic "holds" is the crux.

5 out of 5 stars Compare Jesse's arms in this pic with her arms in this other pic in which she is lower on the route: Jesse lower on the route You can actually see her arms getting pumped!

I'm beginning to see what motivates climbing photographers.

5 out of 5 stars Thanks for all the great pictures, Richard! If we didn't climb at such a friggin' chosspile, you'd be famous.

View this Photo
4 out of 5 stars Cool rock. I think if you said it was 5.12, I'd have believed you.

4 out of 5 stars Chossite.

View this Photo
4 out of 5 stars Actually, it's volcanic metamorphic rock. It's very weird, but it climbs great.

View this Photo
5 out of 5 stars So let me see... all he has to do is turn that lip by pulling on those chalked up "holds"? I don't think I'm going to be redpointing this route any time soon.

View this Photo
5 out of 5 stars Another nice one, Rich! I'm getting pumped just watching this clip.

View this Photo
Is that carabiner keeping that rope off that edge?

View this Photo
I have a serious score to settle with f***ing route. Also, I probably hold the record for number of pieces placed on this route (11). I was actually feeling sorry for my second.

View this Photo
This is only V3?

5 out of 5 stars A belay anchor would have done more harm than good here. "Trained attack beaver"? I thought this was a family site. :)

This route is evil. That's why it's called KAOS!

View this Photo
5 out of 5 stars You really look like you're in your element, Richard!

View this Photo
5 out of 5 stars Actually, you're looking at his beta. He locks his left hand into the wall, by pressing his left leg against his left forearm, as in the picture.

Hey, Jack, you can download this picture, so when people ask you for the beta, you can just say, here, do this!

It looks like the belayer is standing on the moon.

5 out of 5 stars Great close-up. I can see no way to make that clip. Edit: I was recently informed that there is no way to make that clip. It is stricly ornamental.

Cool move!

View this Photo
4 out of 5 stars This is really a really neat effect, Richard.

View this Photo
Nice shot, Hillary.

View this Photo
Yeah, NJC was such a pristine location. No litter, no broken glass, no graffiti. Noise from dirt bikes riding up to the base of the rocks. Let's keep it that way.

View this Photo
Yeah, tripperjm got my point, although I wouldn't call roughster's attitude on the subject "poor." "Misguided" maybe :) New Jack looks a lot better for all the work. As an added benefit, dirt bike riders and other user goups appear to be respecting the crags as a climbing area since the improvements were made.

-Jay

View this Photo
Geeze, no wonder that move feels hard.

Hillary has stolen all my lines and put them in her description. I have nothing to add...no, wait...Good head, Art!

View this Photo
Wow, that looks more like the French countryside than the bowels of the Inland Empire of California.

View this Photo
Nice job, Hillary. Candy O is solid 5.11b and you walked it like it was nothing. You're starting to really crank!

4 out of 5 stars Two guys grinning, and one is wearing kneepads. Looks kind of suspicious. Actually, nice shot, and congratulations on the ascent.

View this Photo
Geeze. Talk about grade creep...5.8? 5.10a? We used to call that route 5.7 back in the 80s when we free soloed it.

View this Photo
This is pretty neat. I should have you shoot the crux sequences of all my old projects. Then, maybe I could actually remember them from one season to the next.

5 out of 5 stars Hey, Rick, you must have scared your belayer with that lead. It looks like he can't bear to watch! :) Nice photo of you. That route looks intense.

As I understand it, they bailed in order to assist with a rescue.

View this Photo
Yikes. Looks scarier to follow than to lead.

View this Photo
4 out of 5 stars This climb looks beautiful. I gotta get out to RR more next year.

Another posed shot. Obviously the climber is statically locked off and waving his left arm around in the air for effect. Can't fool me.

4 out of 5 stars Cute girl. What's that rock she's on? Looks like dried mud. Isn't there limestone like right up the street?

View this Photo
4 out of 5 stars I thought it was a decent pic, actually, though it posted darker than the copy on my computer. Maybe it's the farmer's tan, or the fact that I'm not straining to make the clip (which is kind of the point of the pic).

5 out of 5 stars "Even this 'warm-up' route goes around 5.12. Zuleyha decides to put a new anchor halfway to make a short 5.10 to make it more accessible to mortals."

That's a popular practice at our local crags, too.

View this Photo
There's nothing like the full-body smear. 8 points of contact with the rock, by my count. Women have a 1 point advantage. No fair.

As to overlord's comment: The belayer was a little nervous, since this was his belay test. I'm told that he passed.

Are you training to fracture your skull? Your foot belongs on the other side of the rope.

View this Photo
Nice caption. I have sworn never to return to the Black Corridor of Hell.

I'm just curious if any of the people complaining about the bolts can actually climb 13b, and also curious as to whether any of them can read. Louie has already stated that bolts are needed to protect a fall onto a ledge that is out of the frame. I presume that the fourth bolted is needed to protect the move to the lower crack.

View this Photo
Hanging on to those crimps is probably 5.11d/12a. The move from those crimps to the next one -- yeah, that one that looks way far away -- is like 5.12d+++.

-Jay

View this Photo
Hmmm, one of the better butt shots on the site, I'd have to say.

View this Photo
Pretty freakin' buff.

5 out of 5 stars That Inland Empire smog is so beautiful that it brings tears to my eyes; then again, it does that anyway.

View this Photo
The lighting is a mess, the composition horrendous, and my grandmother could send that problem in her bedroom slippers. I give it a 10.

View this Photo
5 out of 5 stars Oklahoma_climber, that isn't "fog"; it's smog, world-class photo-chemical smog. Who knew that pollution could be so beautiful, eh?

View this Photo
5 out of 5 stars "THAT's a bouldering shot"? It's a shot of two guys toproping a slab in the smog. The effect works well, but I'd hardly give it a 10 on its merits as a bouldering shot.
