If I'm not mistaken, this is actually the SW Corner of Grandma Peabody
this is Every Color You Are.. I've fallen from it many times :)
Nice pic! To untilit it, it makes the climb even steeper! What country is this in?
nice NPS uniform!
Awesome! What kind of camera/lens took this? I want one!
Eat it! Your liver will thank you!
Just dont barn door to the right!!
this should be in a magazine. great pic
heh i assume you mean 140' deep chasm? at first i thought you must be joking..
Nice shot! Check your spelling, though. Dont you use the heel hook?
does this qualify as deep water sloing?
Ouch! That f****** problem hurts!! Probly because I dont have good pocket technique.
Is this problem the Sloth?
Oh wait no its "The Greatest Imperfection is Love, Love, Love. But I Can't Keep The Fire Away."
Wow.. Thats one good mountain dog!
Last time I was in Death Valley, I heard people have been stealing the moving rocks for souveniers.
Great shot! And it fits perfectly on my desktop!
You shoulda grabbed on that little fern! That woulda made it easier!
Wheres all the BRC freaks?
Looks like youre batwinging.. You pumpin out? :)
It was v11 before the hold broke. Now its v12. or v13 from the sitdown! HA! Not like I can get off the ground on that thing.
only 5.8 boulder problem ever to make the front page! i must've done this one a million times back in high school. great problem and a great picture of it too tho, i give it a ten wtf!
amazing. great crisp contrast between rock and sky. i love the leafless trees by the creek and the bridger jacks and six shooter peak in the background. gotta get out there this season...
The light and contrast make a great dramatic effect.
Would be a good shot if it were only bigger. Also, maybe a tad overexposed.
Good picture of a good problem, although I think this shot makes the problem look more impressive than it really is. It is certainly an engaging problem, however the crux down low is much harder than the top out. The worrisome thing is that the top is a little chossy...
This is one of my favorite problems, but I dont like this picture of it too much... Its too flat and two dimensional, I would like an angled view much better.
This picture is way underrated! I like the clarity and the subtle tones.
Submit it bigger! Good shot.
this shot should be bigger.
I like the light.
It came out so clear...
These colors are the essence of Utah...
I might give it a 9 or 10 if it was bigger with no copywrite in the corner
I like the how the muted colors give the feel of the dry desert.
Needs to be bigger!
Would have been cool if it was bigger
just wish it was bigger...
Amazing shot! I wish it wasnt tilted though.
Makes me want to train harder
Is he talking on Derek Zoolander's cellphone?
The rope on left is distracting
Nice shot, smog or no...
Love the vintade duds
It looks like hes a miniature man climbing on a model. Gotta love the great roof, steepest 10b ever
Im getting chalkbag envy
Im getting chalkbag envy
Evilution is at the Peabodies, this is at the Pollen Grains. Similar sized boulder tho.
I would swear that rock is dacite, not sandstone... You sure this isn't on Mt Elden? :) Nice pic btw..
Hope she's got a weedwacker on that rack...
And then a 5.9 mantle twentysomething feet above the big breadloaf rock that somehow you can't see in this shot.
Would be an awesome pic without the glare...
The spotter's holding an odd piece of rock!
I like how the surface of the water turned out.
Looks like if he bails, he's going in the river!
Looks like his feet are levitating
Gosh, when is someone going to show me around this place?
Perhaps you would like some roads and parking lots instead?
Is that a slackline in the background?
Whoa his forearm is the size of the rest of his body!
PS its quite likely that a fall on a cam behind this flake could lever the whole flake off the wall, crushing you, your belayer, your GF, and your little dog too!
Or better yet instead of "wasting your time" posting five comments on this pic, Tradlodyte, tradman, and our favorite filthsprayer dirtyeye, go down to the crags and do some trail maintenance work or build some erosion-proof belay platforms like our man the first ascentionist of this route and bolter in question Tony Puppo does, on his days off from managing The Rubber Room, one of the best resole shops around... And STILL has time to put up hundreds of routes both trad and sport up to 5.12... You want to get off your computers and come out to Bishop and talk sh*t to the locals about the man? You'll be run out of town and laughed at all the way back to the east coast or wherever the hell you all are from. peace.
(here we go again...) Seriously though, climbs that aren't bolted at the ORG are often dangerous. Not just because the gear isn't good, but because when they arent bolted they get no traffic, and when they get no traffic the loose blocks dont fall off of them. If you havent climbed there you dont realize what a hellacious chosspile the place is. And yet its really fun to climb there, because there are bolts in the solid bits of rock and you don't break holds every 2 seconds because theyve all been broken off already by the fools who went up there before you. And yes, even peter croft has put up bolted routes at the ORG that could have been led on gear only (such as the classic bolted dihedral Yellow Peril.) Now all you self righteous mofos can STFU. That is all.
Beautiful rock, beautiful climber...
holy six-pack batman!
mediocre pic of a classic climb
Good pic, too bad its blurry
Would have been a nice shot if the photo quality wasnt such crap
blah blah blah. its 5.2R, cry me a river.
Harder than it looks... ;)
HA! someone beat THAT, b**ches!
Pretty nice, even if he IS following.
It still looks good to me!
F*N classic. I love it.
How is this not the top rated photo in this section??
Look out! There's a chunk of rock hurtling down from the upper cliffs right at your head!!
i'm gonna crap in my pants
not bad, for a BUTT SHOT!! how bout summore ASS! :)
Quit bein a wuss and keep climbin!
Excellent. In this case, even the glare on the lens is cool.
How did you manage to go to a classic area and come away with not one good picture?
feet on the ground DAB
Yeah you wouldn't say "blah, slab" after you'd led it! You'd be too busy remembering yer puckered butthole!!
I love the little bonsai trees on this route. One of the coolest 500' routes to solo, imho. so exposed, so easy.
yeah work on your framing. stop cutting off the climber's feet.
Is that fingertip traverse??! Whoa, 5.3 watch out!!! j/k you climb circles around me all day with no rope and i know it. ;p
Whoa dude for someone who's obviously such a badass, you sure look like a pansy in this pic!!
yeah, you're ugly.
...or is the pic just tilted?
Looks like he's hanging on a piece!
watch out yer gonna wack yer head on the rock behind you!!
those clouds are f*n psychedelic, bro! whooah im shroomin!
Looks kinda like he's eating a candybar.
Top roping is what sport climbing used to be called, before every crag was grid bolted. If you lacked the smarts or balls to lead it on gear, just TR it. Anyway, JT512, is this pic from the Riverside Quarry? just curious...
Is it just me or is Louie placing gear in this pic? Didn't know he did that... Or that people did that at RRQ... :)
A sideways toprope?
hanging on the rope?
Good shot. So-so troll attempt. :)
Guy laying down has bikini tan line dab.
So, yeah, like, when you comin over?
'Uhhhhhuhuhuh... I like it when you can see the bottom of the thingies...' -Butthead
Beautiful pic, beautiful route. Nice job, Jay! Keep the NRG pics coming!
The color makes it look like sunlight... Has the hue been shifted? Nice shot either way.
Cliffs in the background look amazing too.
Magazine size please! 10/10
Post up yer dangling woo li master pics!
Its sandstone choss.
Belayer standing a bit far from the base of the climb, eh?
Send it, amputee boulderer!!
Dude you don't need to flex so hard on a V2!! :)
Is that the bowling ball at slide rock? Slippery indeed.
Tree makes it look like the horizon is way tilted! Though if I know quartzite, the roof ought to be perfectly horizontal. Hmmm...
Now how the heck did it get like that??
Looks like one of those old chinese paintings with the crazy impossibly steep hills in the background. Like a piece of an old world I would have thought lost forever. Add one more place to my list! :)
Definately magazine quality.
Definately magazine quality.
Whoa that looks like a large mountain. How tall is it?
Would be a great pic if it was like, 100 times as big.
Wow howd you manage to screw up a pic of moon hill so badly?? :)
Would be a cool pic except the lighting sucks.
Yeah but photoshop sucks.
Brrr!!! Chilly perch!
Wow, I never realized the grotto was so beautiful. :)
BTW, where is this shot from?
Once again, bigger size please!!!
Aah, there we go! Now that its the right size..... Desk TOP!!!
Another front page photo for nefarious. Keep em coming!
Heheh. Undulations. Theres about eight lines on the face but you can only see two of them in this picture.
Like climbingbums's photos, but better.
Makes me homesick! :) I always thought this particular spot was where ancient Paiute children drew, like chalk on the sidewalk, while their parents were out gathering food nearby... But whats the big UFO lookin thing signify?
BTW, not just a cave. An arch.
Im gonna rate it a one just because there are too many exclamation marks in the first comment. Just kidding.
Color enhanced? Never seen gold lichen quite like that before... Great pic tho.
Umm, don't fall right now! :) Nice hex. Resubmit at a bigger size!
And a classic was made.
Enough King Cat pics already!! Crikey.
As well as climbing, we have cute Philipino girls. Please see the other picture. :)
As well as climbing, we have cute Philipino girls. Please see the other picture. :)
His hairdo lives up to the route name! :)
Cmon, post it in magazine quality not this chincey thumbnail bs!! :)
And why are there stars in the sky?
Southpark spotter DAB!! :)
Quintessential Joshua Tree. Wandering around in the desert, climbing unknown unnamed unrated highballs. I love it.
It's Saturday Night Live and its in Real Hidden Valley, not the campground. Nonetheless, great shot, of a black man with green eyes (watch out ladies!) and kind at that.
That thing would be a boulder problem if it were in Bishop! :)
Looks more like Venezuela than Arizona.
Hahaha, here come the flame... I can hear the whining now. Normally I don't agree with bolted cracks, but I climbed this route and I clipped those bolts. It'd be interesting to fall on gear in that crack and see if it would hold.... :)
You need like a 500 pound quickdraw to clip that bolt!! :)
Oh, and it was Marty Lewis that bolted it. Author of the guidebook and about 400 routes there at Owens. While I may not always agree with his ethics either, he probably did more than any one person to make the ORG a great place to go climb. And, many of his routes he led clean on gear first and then bolted for the sport climbing masses. That way they actually get climbed. Very few lead on gear at the ORG.
Yep, its a choss pile. Volcanic tuff at its crumbliest. Fun, though.
Cookie monster is a bolted route. I think this pic would be rad if there were only one party in it, but when I look at it the way it is I get irritated for some reason... Probably because over-crowding is the one thing I DON'T like about climbing.
Good pic, but its a toprope!! :)
It would probably hold, but that's tuff, not granite. Its very brittle, and I'd be afraid of breaking a chunk out of that flake if I fell with a cam behind it... The name is because when John Bachar did the second ascent, he exclaimed "That would be 5.8 in the valley!!"
Dyno to the little plant!
Good shot of a great route. Doesn't quite do justice to the exposure that the climber is feeling as he does this move, though!!
BTW I think this pic would benefit greatly from cropping off the bottom! Then it'd be a ten for sure!
It's true. Probably a lot more work to get a photo of someone on an uncrowded classic pitch. The last pitch of the zig-zags for example. :) Nonetheless, I miss that Cali granite. Mark, lets go. I'm ready when you are!
Yep, and when they're done chopping this one, they can go chop some of the cracks that Peter Croft bolted down there too, cuz obviously they're way bolder than he is! ;)
Solo, except for your photographer, eh? ;)
The best picture ever to be posted on RC.com.
Guarunteed to be bumblies on cat in the hat, eh mark? Got to start at like 5 am! :)
I like how the zoom makes the background seem so close... Like El Cap is just right around the corner when really its waaay down the valley...
Unique! I like.
Best butt shot EVER!! :) Makes mine pucker.
Every pic of this route gets 9's and 10's! :)
I'd give it a five if he were topping out! I love that piece of rock... So high, but with a perfect landing.
Yep, its Queenfolia. Good route, good shot!
Hey, you cheated! Start on the ground and climb the OW to the ledge!! :)
Good shot, but the URL is way too big.
One of my favorite problems ever!! Lighting could have been better tho.
Cool pic.. I think its a funny caption though. An "Open project?" As if there's any other type of project when youre talking about bouldering? :)
You tilted the camera!! Its actually steeper than this picture makes it look!!!
Its a one eyed potato head on its side. Duh! :)
Thats just not fair... Well, time to go trudge through the snow to the priest draw. Alone. Again.
Your brake lines, because they're evil little bastards. And brake fluid is yummy.
I really like the shot. I wish that you would submit it again with the photo twice as big and the URL half as big. Then it would be a ten for sure.
Yeah her hair definately makes the shot.
Captures that feeling perfectly, post send, still breathing hard, just sitting on top of the rock you've just climbed and taking in the beauty around you.
I like the way the wierd tree frames the climber. Good shot.
Haha beautiful line even if it was manufactured by dynamite and heavy machinery! :)
Ooh that problem feels like a punch in the gut!
Good shot of a great climb. Strange how the light bouncer makes his face look almost like its in the sun, only its not. :)
In the full size shot the clouds give it a lot of depth. It makes me want to come down from Flag and soak up some sunshine. Good shot.
yep couldnt figger out how to get it as my profile photo w/o resubmitting.
I can't help but think that your rating scale must be different than ours.
Rob Miller is the man.
And the roof's not even the crux! Awesome send, awesome pic...
Its very good, but way too small...
And who put the damn tick mark next to that massive sloper??!
Well, seeing how the whole quarry was manufactured by dynamite... But in this case, it doesn't look like glue to me.. just where part of the flake has broken away..
Bouldering, buildering, its all good
Nice shot, Mark! It makes me homesick.
Sick move. Excellent..
I like.. What kind of rock? It looks kind of like the basalt at Paradise Forks, AZ.
Hot or not? Hot.
Wearing nothing but a choker and bandana! :)
Isn't that Sister of Mercy? Just left of Purple Shark, right? Or is rob miller's guidebook wrong?
Less looking, more climbing! Just put the heel on and go! :)
Im going to vote this a 5 just because sidepull is a dickhead. :)
Everything's gone yellow! Including the climber's shoes, shirt, pants, and helmet!!
Huh.. Its a good shot but it's in the wrong area. Isn't that mono lake? Mammoth pool is on the other side of the sierra.
Don't get burned by the spotter's cig!
Aah, thats more like it!
Whoa, how tall is that thing?
Germans are nuts.
Now why would you go and bolt a perfectly good boulder problem?
Whoa yellow hard hats!
Classic! And its a pretty good shot for a 5.7 too. :)
It would have been a pretty cool pic if the sunlight wasn't overexposed and there was no date/time stamp.
Just the honed man we need to go sort out the bolt-chopper...
What type of rock is this? It looks like limestone almost...
Would have been way better without the subjects..
Whoa dude those were some good shrooms!
No, Whitney is to the looker's right of Lone Pine Peak. This shot makes me wonder how many times Lone Pine Peak is mistaken for whitney..?? Sure is more impressive from the valley.
Haha.. The endless perfection of the sierras in contrast to the endless choss of the alabama hills! A lifetime of grainy granola gravel granite!!
Hmm looks like yer cameras fucked up..
Must not of thought you'd get very high, eh? :)
Nice pic of lone pine peak.
Its a cool pic except for the background being overexposed.. Still, not bad.
Good pic! I thought Mr Witty was only V5, but then again I never sent it...
Great shot of classic Happies wierdness!
Heh, there wasn't much of a crack, let me tell you. :)
Only very slighly overhanging at its steepest point. Jugs everywhere keep it mellow, so long as they stay attatched to the wall! :) Good pro tho.
You have nice lips.
When are you showing your work in the Mountain Light Gallery? :)
Nice brachioradialis! (and deltoids!) Mmmuscles.
Is this hotornot.com? Ok.. hot.
Your photos are so bad they're almost good.
Wasn't that guy in "300"? :)
Would have been a great shot if his legs weren't cut off.. Back up a little next time! :)
Romancing the Stone?
Nice, I love those boulders. No crowds, no topos, no ratings. Just fun pulling in the desert sun.
Beautiful composition. I just wish it were bigger.
Beautiful picture, it just needs a climber! :)
Beautiful! What type of rock is that? Quartzite?
Probably because he is on toprope.
Is that a george bush impression?
Don't bump yer knees on the handlebars, there...
A good photo of mediocre climbing is better than a mediocre photo of good climbing!
Wow, that pitch looks amazing, Mark! Got any pics of the third?
Did you use a light bouncer? It came out pretty good..
Nice home wall! I'm jealous.
That darn yellow lichen! I'm still cleaning it out of my eyes and ears! And my belly button.
Haha once you're used to 50' runouts at Stone Mountain, come out to Cali and climb at Suicide Rock. Then the 20-30ft between bolts will seem well protected to you, while everyone else is scared shitless! :)
What a clean line!
Cool! Is this painting handmande or photoshop-made?
ROTFL! Thats awesome.
Oh, right.. Now I see your other pics! Duh.. Well, I really like this one. The afternoon light over the Owen's Valley, highlighting the clean alpine granite. Gotta love the sierras.
The north ridge of which peak? Is this Lone Pine?
Brr I get cold just looking at this pic.
Your back thanks you!
Hey, Manny! Which wall is this one on?
Interesting looking rock.. Is that limestone?
No, silly, it's a hoola hoop!
I've never seen that chosspile look so good! Nice view of the Wahoo gullies!
I would like it better rotated 90 counterclockwise.
Looks like nice granite!
Please resubmit in larger format!
Looks hot! The rock I mean. Err...
Huhuh... He's touching her buttcrack.
those ring bolts are scarewee.
That would be 5.12a
That wall on the right looks massive! And I like the monkey puzzle tree in the left foreground!
If only you guys were as good at taking photos as you are at climbing...
I can almost smell the sagebrush...
nice big tower...
This route is steep enough that it never gets rained on, so the chalk never gets washed off. If you want to bitch about chalk, I hope you never use it yourself... otherwise you're just a whiney hypocrite. I think its a great pic and that's a beautiful route, chalk or no.
You might want to get a new spotter...
That line looks badass.
Umm.. did we really need to see five of these?
Awesome shot! You can recognize the Cathedral Range even from the thumbnail!
And who's to say your boy had the FA anyway, lumpy? climb anywhere, call it what you want.
We heard you the first time. And I don't think Mark was claiming any FA here...
Whoa, gross deformity of the lateral malleolus... Fibula fracture?
Maybe so, Organic, but this one beats anything in your profile! Great sky behind, beautiful shot!
Those plates look a little hollow! What type of rock is it?
I wish I could see her face too...
Dude, your back's gonna explode!
Nice shot. Is the haze in the background fog or smog?
Yep, awesome shot, no doubt about it.
Huh? You mean that you couldn't get imported cams in Brazil in the 1980's? But you could get bolts, rock shoes, quickdraws, and ropes?
Nice pic of the Crack House!
Sweet! Where is this line? Solitude?
Felt harder than 10a when I did it... Then again I spent about a minute on every hold excavating the sand out of the pockets and such... Got pretty pumped by the tenth bolt.! Definately the sandiest rock I've ever climbed, and yet it's still a fun route! Wierd.
I think Patagonia has it's next cover model...!
Good shot of a great route. It's hard to tell from this pic how foreshortened the view is...
Hey bring a little more gear next time!
He's gonna dyno for that plant!
The shot of Sharma on this one that was in R&I a couple years ago might be my favorite climbing photo ever. This one's good too, but you can't tell that he's 40' up from this picture!
I want to go!
Gorgeous! Is this in Yangshuo?
Eliminate grammar. V8+qxasdfasdf
That water looks cold!
Ohmigod its the man eating rock monster!
He's tweaking the nipple!
Nice crack. Err, uhh...
Yeah whats up with the bolt? I'm sure a #7 big bro in that flare wouldve been bomber! ;)
Who knew the lichen came in fall colors?
You should resubmit this one un-photoshopped. It would be better.
That guy was in the movie 300!
Really like this one for some reason..
This photo is living proof that all you need for a good photo rating is a beautiful girl! ;)
Hey if u can't finish the proj, just drill a few more holds!
Dig the socks!
At first glance I thought you were an arsonist holding a jerrycan of gas to light the boulders on fire...!
You're still gonna die if da tower falls over.
What, no PBR in his hand?
I'm sorry, but what the hell is going on here?
Damn, that's a tall sport climb if it goes all the way to the top of that tower!
Wish I had that many spotters when I got on that thing..
My tips hurt just looking at this...
..and I love a girl who can spell.
The flake you're yarding on in this picture has fallen off as of 8/2007..! I always knew it was a little creaky! Now that problem is just a tad harder... for more butt grabbing.
Now that's a big tufa!
I'm a sucker for a beautiful back. Yowza! :)
Amazing latissimus dorsi definition! You should be an anatomy model.
There is a ledge that sticks out 3-4 feet just under the water... Wouldn't want to blow off this one unexpectadly!
Can I see your other tattoos?
Mad props if u didn't have to take out the prussiks! That is one proud toprope.
Ooh looks icy! Not the right day to bring the snowboard!
Does that shirt glow in the blacklight at the club, apres-climbing? :)
After you're done bouldering at Searles Pinnacles, don't forget to check out scenic and historic Trona! ;)
ROTFLMAO! Crag_dawg eat your heart out.
Way to rate your own photo a 5.
Did u try Fistful of Walnuts? Hidden in the boulders in the background there is my favorite problem at Josh...
Holy cow, look at all that limestone! :)
It's just screaming to be drilled into some more...
That looks like some sweet bouldering to have in your backyard! What is the rock type?
Lose one star because he's on toprope. :)
Haha yep the best of the day. Even if it does look like I'm scumming my right knee. (I'm not.) Man I'm sore from our epic the other day. Can I have my phone back?
So much easier than the chimneys/OWs above...
I like the Orca in the background. Maybe we should put up a line on that thing..?!
I love that problem.
Nice looking limestone!
Umm, are blurry google earth shots really necessary? Especially like TEN OF THEM?
Well I think it's a great shot. AND she's beautiful.
Did you use a light bouncer on this, or a flash?
Nope pocketopia is up on the flats of the sherwin plateau, not on the actual rim of the upper gorge. This one is at the boy scout camp, AKA the catacombs, a few more miles down the road. The problem is Church of the Lost and Found, a classic V1.
That girl has some guns!
Nice composition and color, too bad it's blurry.
Careful, that thing looks kinda highball! Good thing you've got the pad and spotter!
Just a guess, but.. Laurel Knob?
Cool looking problem, so-so pic
Yes there are areas with good concentrations. This is just one of them. Most of the boulders are up canyon miles above the sport climbing.
Cool looking rock.. I guess it must be chert?
Hey, quit short-roping your climber!
wow. this sets the new standard for terrible rc.com photos.
is it just me or does it look like he's just hanging there?
Crazy fish eye effect.
The light on the wave is awesome.
fourty bottles don't blow away in the wind, either
Looks like only the first four pitches...
Sounds a lot like the Elbsandstein. Are the areas close to each other?
sorry wampa123, you're a moron.
Mmm action figure.
Looks like he's having a profound religious experience.
Especially a mossy slab. Mmmm good.
I feel like we've seen this one already...
I give you props for even setting foot on a slab as grainy as that one! :)
...when you're climbing a V0
Be careful.. if you walk out into your garage at night, you might walk right into that overhang!
How's a nice jug in the teeth?
Rumney is the new trad crag! Who knew?
Is that granite or basalt? Its hard to tell...
Great pic, Manny. Although this line might get lost to obscurity were it somewhere like Indian Creek, it's definitely worth doing at the Winslow Wall.
Good pic of a classic move. But it sure is funny how defensive you get.
Busch Lite, proud sponsor of lowball choss everywhere.
Come on front page! WOOT!
Careful.. I heard Palin approved airplane-hunting of ice climbers. $150 bounty for the left ice tool!
I like the image and composition but the trees on the right side bothered me instantly. I think maybe with more work I would like this one better. I would like to see the original.
That is a good pic, but I thought Where's Carruthers was the slot just to the left of Scarface. This looks like the unnamed 10+ corner one more climb left, the one people mistake for Black Uhuru
You find any place to put those nuts?
I like short shorts.
I was born, in a dump. My momma died and my daddy got drunk. They left me here, to die or grow, in the middle Tobacco Road.
Damn blue collar tweakers.
Lovin the Thai lovin! yeah!
