4 out of 5 stars Good picture of a good problem, although I think this shot makes the problem look more impressive than it really is. It is certainly an engaging problem, however the crux down low is much harder than the top out. The worrisome thing is that the top is a little chossy...

View this Photo
3 out of 5 stars This is one of my favorite problems, but I dont like this picture of it too much... Its too flat and two dimensional, I would like an angled view much better.

4 out of 5 stars Or better yet instead of "wasting your time" posting five comments on this pic, Tradlodyte, tradman, and our favorite filthsprayer dirtyeye, go down to the crags and do some trail maintenance work or build some erosion-proof belay platforms like our man the first ascentionist of this route and bolter in question Tony Puppo does, on his days off from managing The Rubber Room, one of the best resole shops around... And STILL has time to put up hundreds of routes both trad and sport up to 5.12... You want to get off your computers and come out to Bishop and talk sh*t to the locals about the man? You'll be run out of town and laughed at all the way back to the east coast or wherever the hell you all are from. peace.

4 out of 5 stars (here we go again...) Seriously though, climbs that aren't bolted at the ORG are often dangerous. Not just because the gear isn't good, but because when they arent bolted they get no traffic, and when they get no traffic the loose blocks dont fall off of them. If you havent climbed there you dont realize what a hellacious chosspile the place is. And yet its really fun to climb there, because there are bolts in the solid bits of rock and you don't break holds every 2 seconds because theyve all been broken off already by the fools who went up there before you. And yes, even peter croft has put up bolted routes at the ORG that could have been led on gear only (such as the classic bolted dihedral Yellow Peril.) Now all you self righteous mofos can STFU. That is all.

3 out of 5 stars Hahaha, here come the flame... I can hear the whining now. Normally I don't agree with bolted cracks, but I climbed this route and I clipped those bolts. It'd be interesting to fall on gear in that crack and see if it would hold.... :)

View this Photo
3 out of 5 stars You need like a 500 pound quickdraw to clip that bolt!! :)

View this Photo
2 out of 5 stars Oh, and it was Marty Lewis that bolted it. Author of the guidebook and about 400 routes there at Owens. While I may not always agree with his ethics either, he probably did more than any one person to make the ORG a great place to go climb. And, many of his routes he led clean on gear first and then bolted for the sport climbing masses. That way they actually get climbed. Very few lead on gear at the ORG.

View this Photo
2 out of 5 stars Yep, its a choss pile. Volcanic tuff at its crumbliest. Fun, though.

View this Photo
2 out of 5 stars Cookie monster is a bolted route. I think this pic would be rad if there were only one party in it, but when I look at it the way it is I get irritated for some reason... Probably because over-crowding is the one thing I DON'T like about climbing.

View this Photo
2 out of 5 stars Good pic, but its a toprope!! :)

View this Photo
3 out of 5 stars It would probably hold, but that's tuff, not granite. Its very brittle, and I'd be afraid of breaking a chunk out of that flake if I fell with a cam behind it... The name is because when John Bachar did the second ascent, he exclaimed "That would be 5.8 in the valley!!"

nice big tower...

View this Photo
5 out of 5 stars This route is steep enough that it never gets rained on, so the chalk never gets washed off. If you want to bitch about chalk, I hope you never use it yourself... otherwise you're just a whiney hypocrite. I think its a great pic and that's a beautiful route, chalk or no.

4 out of 5 stars Nope pocketopia is up on the flats of the sherwin plateau, not on the actual rim of the upper gorge. This one is at the boy scout camp, AKA the catacombs, a few more miles down the road. The problem is Church of the Lost and Found, a classic V1.

That is a good pic, but I thought Where's Carruthers was the slot just to the left of Scarface. This looks like the unnamed 10+ corner one more climb left, the one people mistake for Black Uhuru
