Do you have a guide book for the area? I'm heading down there for spring break next month and I have the Falcon guide "Desert Rock III" but it's not the greatest. Looks like a sweet climb, it's on my list.
He's really not that hard to see, toward the top of the chimney, kind of looks like he has one arm... I like the pic too.
um... did you happen to eat him when you were done? I bet he'd turn your tongue yellow.
Very nice, I climbed that route a couple years ago and it was pretty rad. I wish that it was closer to... you know... anything. Eureka is a long ways from nowhere.
squish it quick!
It's not the black corridor I know that much, if I had the guide book I could figure it out, that's a big boulder behind the guys. I don't think it's too important considering it's not even a photo of the route.
did you climb it? I started up it but it's crumbly as hell
Leave the cam, Au Naturale is the way to go
you did it in your approach shoes?
I see mostly cams, not nuts...
Dubbya Tee Eff?!?!
Did you crawl through the hole later? I totally would. I'll have to hit up the hills next summer.
This is actually on the interior of the falls. The ice was harder and not dripping wet. The outside was just as difficult, but there was a LOT of water running down the face. But as a whole, it was pretty sweet ice.
Yeah, that's what my partner said, I didn't want to put it lower and I couldn't get a good stance up higher. Next time I'll be sure to try leading on something a little easier... as in not verticle.
Classic yes. If by classic you mean basically worn smooth from so much travel. It's not BAD per se, but there are definately better routes on the rock. I'd suggest Bonn Homme...
Crazy, looks like Devil's Tower!
um.. yes, they are ski boots because I left my other boots in a friends car. But they worked just as well, and yes I have large brass balls, but they became unbrassen since I had to bail.
I like the wavy lines in the rock
He only has one nut...
Nice pic, the tower looks like a cliff band...
I like it, these others that don't like it are just jealous. BTW I have those same shoes, they rock.
Who says it all has to be about the quality of the picture? I think it's cool just because it's out of the ordinary.
Thanks hoppin, but the day was fine. It was hard, and there is nothing wrong with wearing ski boots, they're essentially the same thing as Koflachs. WI4 was a little over my skill level, but the only way to learn is to try. The screw placing wasn't optimum, but it worked besides I wasn't that high off the ground. I have a smart head, I knew what I was doing.
I know, and I'm heeding the warning. Despite not having much experience, I understand ice and know about it. Although I'm not that great (which is why I didn't push my abilities) I did indeed know what I was doing. So unless you were there to tell me I'm not doing a good job you have no way of knowing wether or not I was competent.
Is that a little naked boy in the river?
