Nice shot brutha, you should tie a keeper knot or tuck that in though. :)
Thanx... Just a beat up Olympus Stylus "point and shoot". And yes, Karen took this shot.
Yea !!! Now that's STYLE. :p
Damn it Pete... Where'd you get those knees man ??? :p
Hey... That's me on top. :)
Got toothbrush ??? :p I need to stay at a Holiday Inn Express, so I can shoot pics like that. Good shot Neil.
A guide and I did CPR on a guy that fell from the rap bolts at the top of this pitch. BTW... The 2nd pitch, usually not done, is better than the 1rst, both can be done in 1 with a 60 meter rope.
No... It's NOT El Cap.
What are you talking about Pete ??? He's "free climbing" it, notice his hands <b>touch</b> the rock. If <b>you</b> were climbing this, you'd be pulling on the draws and standing in aiders, <b>eh</b>?
Correct me if I'm wrong but... This is the view looking East, therefore it must be a sun"rise".
Sorry it's a little blurry ppl, the resizing and pasting and resizing again took it's toll. :(
That's my girl.
<b>Perfect</b> shot... Makes me wanna do this climb.
Pete... It's called "free climbing", as his hands <b>touch</b> the stone, not nylon or metal.
It's the breakfast of champions, right ???
Good shot Andy, Karen and I did the Kor-Ingals Route on the other side... Man the approach SUCKS !!!
I would have to say this is definately the <b>Worst Way</b> to tie two ropes together for a double rope rap, as this is an <b>obsenely high profile knot</b> and would easily snag on something when pulling the rope. What are you thinking Pete ??? For a <b>Big Wall Theorist</b> you "don't get it".
Ahhh... Understood. I'm not a <i>Big Wall Theorist</i>, so I was confused by the photo description, <b>"...to join two fixed ropes together, ropes on which you will either be jugging or rapping."</b>
Awesome shot !!!
It's <b>sunny</b> Southern California. :)
<a href="http://www.rockclimbing.com/photos.php?Action=ListPhoto&PhotoID=1481">Here's</a> the same route with my buddy pulling on that little mono. Great route !!!
Nope... It was just really hazey outside when I lead it. My wife is pictured cleaning the same route after it cleared up a bit. Check 'photos from rrradam' for the one of her.
How many "ranters" above have climbed at Owens ??? I have, I prefer Trad climbs, but Owens is a sport crag.<br>First off... Owens is and always has been a <b>Sport Crag</b>, as 99% of the routes are face climbs, thus everything is bolted. <br>Second... There are more bolts next to cracks on El Cap than there are next to cracks in the entire Owens River Gorge, and the bolts on El Cap are used for Aid. (BTW... Aid is synonymous with <i>HELP</i>, that is what is needed to get up when one cannot free-climb. Hardmen want to free an Aid Route, not Aid a free climb.). <br>Third... The rock at Owens is friable volcanic tufa I believe, so only the lower third is sound enough to climb, bolts are the only way to protect and get down, and Trad placements are not solid here, even if there is a weakness in the rock. <br>Fourth... You should've started a thread instead of ranting in the comments section of this beautiful pic, it sullies it. (This I am now guilty of as well in order to respond. :( ) <br>Fifth... You should get the facts before you parot the rants of PTPP, it makes his "fan club" look like mindless automatons.<br>
Bolters have their places, and Owens is one of them, as it is a sport crag. Bolts do not belong at Trad crags.
I thought you were a fellow SoCal "oldschool punker" like me.
Read the 3rd comment... We climb with a "beat up point and shoot".
I dislike bolted cracks as well, as evidenced by my many replies on the subject... I am a passionate Trad climber. But Owens is known as a Sport crag, not even a mixed crag. Now <b>I'm</b> sullying this great picture. I even copied it to my screen-saver slide-show.
It's one of the variations under Doug's Roof near Uber Falls. I think it's only like a V1. <i>Double-Clutch</i> is to the left.
I'm a gumby man.
Oh Man... I look bald. :(
I wish I could've watched you climb this big roof system, but I was on top. :( You rock Jules. BTW... MT is an <b>.8+</b>. :)
Hey I saw the exact same people on the exact same ledge... Wait, I was next to you when you took this pic. Good shot Jules. :)
Oh yea... Dom was happy... Guess where his hand was. :)
Man... It looks like I have <b>Sport Climber's Legs</b>. :(
Why did you vote all the 1's to <b>everyone's</b> photos in the Gallery ??? Maybe you deserve the votes you are getting, as the saying goes... "What goes around, comes around."
<b>"...Dangerous clip..."</b> ??? This is a Trad climb, no bolts here.
Great shot !!! Nice stem, and good angle on the pic. You go girl.
Thanx for the beta 'k9', I edited the title to reflect the route name.
Good lead Sara... That's a classic finger crack, and is one of the best Moderates in J-Tree. <b>You go girl !!!</b> p.s. I'll submit the pics I took of you on the .11a at Malibu soon. :)
I vote 'ratstar' the RC.com poster boy. :)
Nice pick Tom. :) But I'm curious as to why there are bolts next to the crack, does it not protect well ???
Freeing offwidths sucks... You feel like you got in a fight when you're done.
You should be able to tell... Notice the smoke ???
Clockwise from nikegirl's (pant w/ stripe): wyoclimber, i.karen, fiend, rrradam, clymber, rck_climber, sauron, darkside, climber_chic.
My best guess, as I've slept since then.
I'm <b>blessed</b>... In my 3 short years of climbing, I've been able to climb in over 10 states around the country. I own 21 guide books so far, and the count is growing.
I do look like Popey, minus the forearms. Ayyyykykykykyky !!!
I had to make the clip after I climbed passed the bolt in this shot, as it was more "comfy" above it.
Great shot Karl.
Karen, while Josiah belayed me.
There are a few shots w/ the falls in the background, but they came out a bit dark... I'm having a "pro photog" friend try to enhance them.<p>This climb is 90' of sustained .10d, with one rest in the middle, and a lot of stoppers to place along the way... My smoke didn't last. :(
I keep looking at this pic... I love it. <b>Trad, Trad, Trad...</b>
That's bomber... I'd park my car on it. Great shot.
<b><font color=red>Dream Of Californication !!!</font></b> BTW... "Tube sock" would be <b>too big</b>, I'd fit into a thimble.
Lars... I loved your glasses... Can I have 'em ???
Yes, but the just out of reach "spinner" below was by far the hardest.
Only because I found a good hands free rest. :)
Now don't forget that I <b>saved your life</b> on this climb, as you took a 15 footer from the overhang. What are you gonna buy me ??? :)
That's my "dorky hat"... As I'm a dork.
The shadow on the rope makes it look as though it isn't clipped.
Great shot !!!
Oh yea... Noticed the smoke. Since I've been getting complaints. Some even think I quit... I wish.
Great comment Anne... Even though I don't get it. Maybe it's a "drunk joke", eh ???
Great shot brutha !!!
To all you kids... "Smoking is bad, m'kay."
Joe (left) is <b>56 years old</b>, been climbing for 40 years, and still cranks 5.12s, and is the most fit climber I've ever seen. Truely an inspiration for me.
Great shot !!! I just met this guy yesterday at Williamson. How come he doesn't have his "Melvin Shirt" on ???
Williamson is a Sport Crag where bolting is not an issue. This climb is the only one I've seen equipped with "chain draws". Owens, however, has plently, but only on roofs. The <b>only</b> people who venture down to it are climbers, not "greenies", as there is not much to look at unless you climb and a stout hike out. At least for a smoker like me.
OUTSTANDING PHOTO !!! If I could give it a 20 I would. It's good to live in <b>SoCal</b>.
Yep... Shadow has some rad and very bold tatts. I like the blue flames for brows, takes a lot of confidence to pull it off. Dr Laura, Rush Linbau(sp?), and Jerry Faldwell would definately not like to live in SoCal.
Nope... Look closely, you can see the biner in front of my hand, as there is a hold behind it. It's a "Free Climb", not an A0.
<b>Big Trad Balls Of Steel !!!</b>
Smoking is bad, M'Kay.
Great shot Paul !!! Why the lie back ??? Too small for fingers & toes ???
If you <font color=red><b>"Dream Of Californication"</b></font>, come on out brutha.
Was smoking till I took my first fall... Too hard to smoke on.
Nice shot Andy... This was my 1rst 5.12 lead.
Man you have "stones"... I hate to place pro from a lie back, as I hate placing pro blind. You da man.
Be carefull 'toobig'... You'll rip off those jugs.
I'm not flagging, I'm trying to recover from a dyno to a 2 finger pocket (left).
When I first started climbing, I used to watch her cruise .11s at my Gym, that I could not even lift off on. She is a <b>very smooth</b> climber.
No roof, just a slight overhang.
Yes it is.
Dude... Beautiful pic !!! You are talented.
No... She's not clipped yet in this pic, and she didn't backclip it. She's a very proficient leader.
Go T, Go T, Go T !!! :D
Looking good on a stout route Andy.
Nice pic Karl.
Great pic Jeff... I heard here here in SoCal.<br>BTW... Is she wearing approach shoes ???
No... It's the top of the climb. (Lowering anchors)
One of the best on the site... Great dynamic shot !!!
Hey Tony... Did you "heave" ???
Great Pic... Mmmmm... Exposure.
Thanx for the great pic Karl... It's very soothing on this day.
Aaron... Rebolted w/ 3/8" bolts. Good clipping holds on all but the first. 'betaflash' equipped it with draws on his lead.
Yes he did... And it's getting me thinking I need to also, as many of my pics are poop.
Great shot... One of the best on the site.
I was "hiked out", <a href="http://www.rockclimbing.com/photos.php?Action=ListPhoto&PhotoID=7227">like this</a>, far from the wall to get this shot, hanging from the anchor of another route with plenty of slack to move around for different angles.
Thanx for the nod Ammon, but I'm no "badass", just a climber like anyone else.
Nice shot Brian...<br>Me at top taking pics (as Brian noted), Art upper left, Ryan lower left, Karen Center, and Lourdes upper right.
Look'in <b>purty</b> there boy.
Now that's as "ass shot"... Are you hungry Robert ??? 'Cause you're eating your pants. <img src=">http://www.rockclimbing.com/forums/images/smiles/icon_razz.gif</img>
Be right there.
Not <b>yet</b>... As stated above, Ammon took the pic.
Nice pic. Who's that guy on belay ??? Looks like me.
You go girl.
Nope... That's Karen on belay, and the first bolt is in the cave, but it's usually skipped to lessen rope drag.
Yes... Props to you Mike, it's a good shot.
Still a great shot, as it was when you submitted the first time, months ago.
Nice shot. Twin ropes ???
Trying to hang on to the pockets.
I know... Karen and I were laughing at the photo. Someone's climbing a route next to him.
That's not a smile, it's <b>her</b> intensity.
Great shot, keep 'em coming.
Nice shot dude !!! BTW... I have a buddy who shapes holds for Climb It here in SoCal, they do make nice beenies.
Did the submitter "authorize" his photo being <i>touched up</i> ???
Yea... But what do you think we're talking about ??? <b>TRAD !!!</b>
Ya know Mark... You ruined two perfectly good Trad climbers.
Is that a smoke in my mouth ???
Great pic of my favorite Area... <b>The Gunks</b>.
Another great shot with a lot of <i>orange</i> in it.
Dude... Send your pics to the climbing mags, <b>THEY'RE GREAT !!!</b><br>This one is easily my favorite on the site now.<br><b>Trad baby !!!</b>
Looks cold. :(
Dynamic shot... Very intense.
I gotta get "Down Under"!!! Man, the Aussie Tourism Board should give you a bunch of $$$, as I'm sure that many climbers are gonna head down there due to your pics.
Looking good Jeremy... Try without holding onto the teather.<br><b>"Oh ya, the buliton board in the background is not the deck, the deck is twice as low as that!"</b> ???
How do they read the bulletin board if it's so high ???
"300 feet" ??? Looks more like 8 feet. Pretty picture though, nice colors.
We have another "Pro Photographer" Great shots brutha !!!
Nice shot of ML. I like the B&W.
Go Wes, Go Wes , Go Wes !!!
Is he wearing Vans or Airwalks ??? Nice pic.
Correct on all accounts, except for the smoking... I'm smoking.
Nice pic brutha... You need a haircut though. *Pulls out my shears* C'meer.
In my mouth.
It's not centered cause I wanted to get the belayer in the shot. Maybe you just don't like to see a chick able to lock off like this... Is that why you are "faller" ??? :)
Wasn't this pic put up earlier Doug ???
Nice "Big Bros" Paul... Is that your rope with duct tape covering the exposed core ???<br><b>You rule brutha !!!</b>
No problem Doug, just curious. This must not have been in Autumn, as there would be major "shrink factor".
Great to see some <b>"free climbing"</b> on a Big Wall.
<b>OI !!!</b> Two punker points for you, from <b><a href="http://www.rockclimbing.com/photos.php?Action=ListPhoto&PhotoID=4339">one</a></b> punker to another.
Oh... The title says "<i>Burger & Fries</i>", and that your "gear placements felt solid".
Your description makes it sound as if you lead this route, but <a href="http://www.rockclimbing.com/photos.php?Action=ListPhoto&PhotoID=8655">here</a> you look as if you are TRing it. What gives ???
Nice pic... I like series composites like this.
Go Paul... Go Paul !!!
Go Amber !!!
GREAT pic Andy !!! Big 10.
This was a #8 which didn't set because it <b>should</b> have been a #7.
No... I am up top belaying him... He is tied into the middle, as we were a party of three, with the climb shorther than a half length of rope, only used one for all three of us.
Great shot Wes.
Oh yea... Way to go Matt.
Great shot brutha !!!
Notice my "one handed smoker's spot"... It give motivation not to fall.
Great side pull coming up. Big move,,, Dramatic shot.
Lew... That's Tom, and he's about 200 lbs, so he's a wee bit bigger than you.
5 Years ?!?!?!? Damn... It's older than <b>Ben Dover 5.10c</b> on the back side of Echo Cove.
Nice shot... Is this a "single line" though ???
Nice pic... This looks exactly like the cave near Hidden Valley in J-Tree.
Very dynamic shot.
She is nice to press up against.
<b>Didn't know that !!!</b> Thanx for not pulling me off.
Hey "Jackie Twan's Evil Chin" <br>Deadpoint... Dyno... Doesn't matter, both start with "D", but yes, my feet did come off.
No chalk... Nice pose.
Oh yea... Air time !!!
Yea,,, That's "Double Cross".
Nice pic phly.
Super picture... She looks so calm.
Yea... I whacked and hacked my way up... But it was my first time, and I led it though.
Great pic of you getting ready to "slot" that hand Art. Go <i>Jackie Twan's Evil Chin !!!</i>
Tim ??? As in Tim, Tim ??? He climbed the .10b with me. This one was all Art.
You made me Tim... And good thing, as I was "whacking & hacking", so ice was hitting me in the head. I now know the meaning of the term "dinner plate".
Climb was called <b>Third Time's A Charm 5.10b</b>.
No wife beater T, and notice that Tim made me wear a helmet (my first time wearing one), and good thing... Since I basically "whacked and hacked" my way up, there was ice flying everywhere.
Nice shot... Shows the intensity.
And you led it no less... You have big "stones" brutha, that is one "supa hard" route for .10d.
Looking good Paul, you even got a hair cut. Nice lead brutha.
I think the Vogul Guide lists it as .10d.
Easy there Tim... I was waiting for you to yell "climbing !!!".
Oh yea... Who can guess what I am doing in this pic ???
This would be a much better shot if it weren't enlarged, as you lost much resolution in the resizing process.
GREAT pic Richard... I like you shot's of Jack. I've climbed with him at Williamson.
Nice shot brutha, very dynamic.
There is Hillary... Over at Waterfall Wall there is a large, smooth, and long log for climbers to sit on, and watch climbers on Carpe Diem. In fact, I sat there and watched Jack climb.
For those who cannot tell, it's a TR, and he is trailing a line. (notice how it's clipped into a gear loop.)<p>
I love the Gunks for this very reason... <b>Big Blocky Roofs, that you can sew up with pro.</b>
Airwalks... Nice touch and style.
Nice piocture Vanessa, I like it.
Not really, try V0-.
Good to see you back on the site Jaybee... Karen and I missed you and Adam^2 at the 2nd JTree Gathering.
The bolts are more spaced the higher up you get. They are bolted closely early to protect a bad fall onto a large ledge/bulge at the bottom.
'murf' is correct... The only danger from a dyno here was blowing the onsight.
Yes... We love to "berate" each other up climbs.
Art: Yes Catherine took the shot, but it went through the washing machine, so the quality is a bit poor. Didn't want to attribute a "substandard" shot to either of them.<p>Jaybee: Getting ready to place one, you know... Cam goes into crack. :-)
Yea... Go buddy !!!
Great shot !!!
hee hee hee.
Nice pic... Very cool.
Nice pic brutha... Is he tied into the middle ???
It's a pretty strenuous move, especially since I took off my <i>detachable legs</i>, requiring me to campus the whole thing.
My bad... Fixed.
Nice back yard brutha.
Harness... What's that ??? I use a swami belt. :)
I like it... Cool pic.
Hell yea !!! I love this pic, and it's great to see he got through it.
I'll roll ya one. :(
Damn Doug... Be carefull brutha. I'm not much of an Ice Climber, but that doesn't look too solid.
True... There is a "nerd gate" at the beginning. And it's <i>horale esse, viva la raca</i> Tim.
Term I heard for a crux low to the ground, as it serves as a "nerd gate" to the rest of the climb.
Good foot work and body tension Hillary... Very good technique.
Nice move... Undercling and stretch to the crimp.
Art likes the placement he noted in his above comment, but at 140 lbs he can afford to, I'm pushing 190. It's flared, so I think it would be an R/X without the bolt. Once you hit the vert crack, it's all G Rated.
Just before... I broke it on this RP attempt.
The yellow is live lichen.
Looks like a perfect belay to me, but then I like to have slack... He's saved my bacon on many falls, so I trust his belay 100%. And I think he is studying the start of the climb, since it is the crux IF you are under 5'10", which he is.
Lookin good brutha Jay... Nice pic Hillary.
Yes, it is Jay.
I saw him do this at the PBC, and it has inspired me to work on this, as I can walk and turn the line, and do the splits on the ground. Not going so good though, the dismounts tend to be face first.
My cranium is ugly, so I hide it Tim.
Yeah... I got one hell of a "gobie" when I fell on this thing, and swung under the big undercling. Still got that wound now... Reminds me of home.
Just keep practicing brutha... It'll come, just bend the knes and RELAX.
Ummmm... Andy... Read the description... I had my "summer do" of polka dots.
Now that was very funny !!! ;)
Not a vacation picture 'jipstyle', this is about 1/2 an hour from my house down the coast.
Relentlessly... I told him I'd give him 100:1 odds that he couldn't climb that without crying like a school girl. He declined, as he said, "That's a given bro." He started crying once he dipped his hands in chalk. He did it though... To the screams of his daughter saying, "C'mon dad, get up that thing !!!" And this may be in the LA Climb On! video coming out soon.
GREAT SHOT !!! I love your B&W's.
Is that why you were whimpering ???
Nice pic, but he's back-clipped, and the rope is over the gate... Not a good combination.
RC is one of my favorite Areas near Bishop. DMZ is a fun .10 finger crack. Easy approach, solitude, and pristine granite make for a nice crag... And 2-3 pitches.
Big 10 !!! This is why the Gunks is my fave... Big blocky roofs, easily protected.
Another beautiful shot !!! You are talented brutha.
MMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!! Modern Times is my favorite.
Great angle, very intense.
Nice shot... I like the shadows.
This is one of my faves... Good shot !!!
Really dynamic shot !!!
From one <i>Beach Comber</i> to another... <b>GREAT shot brutha !!!</b>
Nice shot... I like the movement.
TR only ?!?!? This takes pro well, especially low. Hand size if I remember correctly.
They look almost as small as you T. ;)
Big "Two thumbs up" !!!
Outstanding picture !!!<br>According to the RDB, the route is an .11b.<br>And why can't the belay take the pic ??? I take most of my pics while belaying... One hand on the camera, and one on the rope. If I drop anything, it'll be the camera.
Is this one of the pics submitted a few months ago ??? Still a great shot.
Is this a <b>shoe picture</b> ???
I love it... I remember when many of these went up... Good to see the progress. Looks a little too fat and desperate for my taste, but I sure can appreciate the "fight" it takes to get up these.
V6? Where ??? Nice pic though.
Hey... I've climbed at Reimer's many times, it's pretty good.
Great pic... I saw this on the FP, and at first thought it was out West.
Big block roofs... My favorite. Adding this place to my tick list.
Great shot !!! How far is he gettin' set to throw for the next hold ???
Great shot Hil... Nice angle. You are getting very good at this. How'd you get to the anchor to get this pic ???
Beautiful shot Tom.
I like it... Now I have to add China to my list.
Very nice pic !!!
Great shot !!! I like roofs.
I like this perspective.
Been there, done that... Love this place,l and the pic. My wife and I found a shrivled up dehydrated dead bat in the cave behind you when you took this pic.
I love this pic.
Nice shot and a great line Andy.
Great shot !!! Very awe inspiring.
I told you that whenyou took your shirt off... I said, "Dude, your skin is whiter than your teeth !!!"
Yea... And I'm smoking. I gotta quit this nasty habit. :(
My faves are the the mantel problem at tree (V5), Undertow and Xylophone (V2 & V3).
Another outstanding shot.
Great shot... Gotta love that Texas Limestone.
Wow !!! The best Artistic shot so far.
Great shot !!!
Been down that road a few times... It is God's country up there.
Wow !!! Stunning.
I like... And from the seated position too.
Brian, from EVOLV, gave me all the styles of his new shoes... I climb with them exclusively. They hold up better than the Five-Tens, and perform just as well. These one's are the KAOS, and are similar to the Anasazi Velcros. His Bandits are similar the the Newtons.
Thanx brutha... Edited accordingly.
Looks like she's climbing <b>fire</b>... This pic rules.
Soloers don't wear a harness for "security"... The harness is for the rappel off the rope at left. I can post the "butt shots" of me much higher, but I don't really have anything to prove, and butt shots suck.
That's my favorite climb of all time. Great pic of the last 2 pitches. <b>Big 10 !!!</b>
Great shot Hillary... You are a skilled photographer.
Just did this last weekend... Nice little VB (5.7 really).
 Knee brace, as I've put a lot of miles on my body in 37 years.
What's that in my mouth ??? I really need to quit smoking. :(
Good job Blake, hope you trusted my belay.
Go Meg !!!
Damn Hillary... You're gonna be in the Mags very soon with shots like these. You are very talented.
Recognized this when I first saw it... It is a classic route in a great place... One of my all time favorite .11s.
Couldn't get my sausages in it, just tips at best for a crimpy sidepull. No ascent for me. :(
Offwidths suck !!! Great picture though, it shows why they suck.
Outstanding picture !!!
I love all the blues in this pic.
A Fez hat ???
More like an organ grinder's monkey on a leash don't ya think ??? Just a super white one.
Ummm... That's what the description says brutha.
OMG !!! I didn't realize that you are a "blockhead"... Don't they have operations for that ??? You may want to borrow your belayer's cool cowboy hat brutha.
Ummm, really, it's less than an ounce. ;)
Yep... The climb starts over water.
Except for the grafitti.
I hope mine's that cute.
Outstanding picture !!!
Damit !!! Now I'mk really bumbed I missed you "Geology Tour" out in Yosemite this Summer. Did you give one ??? I remember you asking if anyone wanted one, and I said "Hell Yea !!!".
Ummm... The photographer is standing on _______??? I guess the ground is just out of view, and this is the beginning of a "sport climb" judging by the fact that you just have draws. Very dramatic though.
Outstanding climbing at Reimer's... I love the place. I even found a dried up dead bat hanging from the small part of the cave if you go back and left of the belayer.
Lookin strong in that pink shirt Nick.
It's around her arm Hillary.
Another <b>outstanding</b> picture !!!
I rack my cams the same way. Looks like very solid jams.
Damn Russ... Look at the feet on that kid... He's gonna be a big'n.
Outstanding picture... My wife and I camped at Pace Bend numerous times when we were climbing at Reimer's. I love the place.
Go Kelly !!! Great cam placement BTW... I'd hang my car off of that.
Mmmmmmmmmm... Roof. Added this Area to my tick list for when I return to the Carolinas for work on Jan 16th.
Believe me... I don't make it look easy, and I've yet to redpoint this.
She is "eschewing" the usual pics. Nice pic Kristin.
OMFG !!! I wanna climb that. Outstanding picture !!!
I gotta move to Oz.
Another one... I gotta move down under.
Thanx for the detail brutha... You know rocks.
What kind rock is this ??? Makes for outstanding contrast.
You get this one yet ??? Remember to plant thet right foot brutha.
This one scared me. :( Good job Mike. And I'm sure Brian will like to see you in his EVOLV Bandits. ;)
Oh man... You can "kinda" tell what's on my shirt !!! LOL
I had to tell myself <b>outloud</b> to relax at this point of the problem... Thanx for once again giving me the confidence to send this type of stuff. Well, having "Big Tom" spotting me adds confidence also. Why does the book say this one is a TR ???
The shirt is from a friend of mine's band (NOFX), and was given to me by him.
WOW !!! I wonder if he can see God from there ?!?!?
Outstanding !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The first non climbing (action) pic I've given a 10.
I love this picture... Very spiritual... I love the grass.
Nice photo shop job.
I got a little one on the same climb my brutha... Quit whining.<br>Nice pic though... I like it. ;)
Big 10... Magazine quality... Just outstanding.
Thanx for waiting for me... Not !!!
:( No I don't. :(
What was used to anchor this line, as the tension is incredible on those anchors, and I see absolutely no rock ??? This guy trusted his life to a few ice screws on each side with this much tension on them ???
OK... I'm a believer.
Nice shot... Shows the commitmant level required to do one of these walls.
That's bomber, 7" pine is pretty solid... Good pic, and even with the knot of choice, the EDK.
Neil, you continue to take and post some of the best shots on the site. You will be bad for my bank account, as tickets and lodging to Oz is quite pricey for an entire summer, and you truely inspire me to wanna get down under brutha.
I wanna go there... Big 10 !!!
Great job... This'll be my wall paper soon.
Good job on a stout climb Blake.
Great picture, and shows exactly why I hate offwidths.
Lookin strong Amber.
Good to see you climbing again Ronnie... How's Louie the "tuff little crag dog" ???
I like this pic... Looks like a stout climb.
Looks great brutha... I love the shadows and even the reflection of the belayer in the table... Good atention to detail.
Glad to see you are relatively OK... Gotta work on the dismount though.
Outstanding shot Wes... The best air shot so far !!!
Great picture !!!
This is a very fun problem... Works best if you put your right foot in the hole, hence the name of the problem brutha.
OLutstanding shot !!!
They're butt shots, but his shadow acts like a sundial, and you can actually tell just how many <i>hours</i> he was on it.
A bit thin and crimpy, but very doable... Just technical. I think you'd like it Tim.
Many people only feel secure with a stack of pads and many hands in order to boulder anything where their feet get above 6 feet.
Great pic. And I'd love to see some pics of those spraying here bouldering this, but spray is cheap.
Nice pic, great angle.
This is why The Gunks is easily my favorite place to climb... Great moderate roofs like this that can be sewn up with pro if you want, with lots of exposure. This is the best colage I have seen yet.
Nice pic, but it looks a bit tilted.
Ronnie... When are ya takin me to this place ???
Huh ??? He actually climbed this one <i>relatively</i> quickly.
ABS of steel brutha... Core strength !!!
Damn... <b>Got Bolts</b> ???
Fun climb with a bit of a "nerd gate".
Great pic... Was this taken from <i>Birdland</i> ???
Is that you Louie ??? If so, thanx for bolting this brutha. This was an outstanding route when I did it a few years ago. Very aptly named too. 1-900... This is .11c and is near vert to vert... This pic is tilted so it looks less than vert. DS... Lighten up bro, do you lead .11c free ??? This is a free climb that is being bolted.
This is an outstanding route... Definately a classic.
Mike... Were you excited to watch Tom pull this ?!?!?
GREAT shot... I have almost the exact same one submitted with my wife belaying me as I lead this pitch.
He's in a papoose style baby carrier, so the little gray area under his head is part of that and holding his head up, as he was just snoring away.<br>And I actually did need to photoshop some of this... The rock at left is covered in racial graffiti, so much of the rock left of him is cloned to remove it, as it is pretty bad.
Good job Hil.
Mmmmmm, Montana. Good pic.
Been there (Reimer's Ranch), <i>haven't</i> done that. Great pic, of a great place.<br>Where's this in relation to Sex Cave ??? Just left a bit, down toward the river ???
Great shot Louie... Who put htis route up ???
Outstanding picture !!! Good job. Good core strength. Good control.
Looks good Mike. This is the one right of the .11 you and I did, right ???
That's moabbeth... Why ya wanna crop here out ???
I love this pic. Great shot, and outstanding perspective of just what you guys do on the Big'uns.
Great pic... That would be an outstanding lead today, but in the 80's you deserve mass props.
hahahaha... Actually, there is a shitload of racist grafitti at the base of these climbs. They don't spell very well, as one says "no *igggers aloud". In this pic, you can even see some green spray paint. Sucks really bad as the place is in a beautiful setting.
Isn't this the same pic you posted a few months ago ???
No more than 30 feet.
It's more like a stem of sorts.
Great pic Lars... You still wearing those funky shades you were wearing when I met you on <i>Commitment</i> in the Valley a couple years ago ???
And sporting his EVOLV KAOS shoes no less.
Great pic, and better send... Every nerve aware when the crash pad looks like a postage stamp, huh ??? Gotta love it.
Another outstanding pic Louie. You put this one up also ???
Nope... I've only had Wednesdays off for a couple months now.
A fun route... My wife and I took my 9 year old niece up that climb a few years ago.
Looks like you got a stopper girth-hitched with some cord... I though that was a no-no, as in no nylon to wire. Great pic though brutha Paul.
Thanx Zac... You know I call this my dorky hat. You've seen me in it plenty of times. Now your JTree hat on the other hand...
Good pic Louie. You definately can tell who the hormonally charged single males are on this site, huh ???
Great pic... Got any of her higher up ???
Great shot Louie.
"INFAMOUS" ??? This roof rules.
Great moment in time Mark... Good job.
A great area to climb. Even got a ride from the "parking area" down the hill to the start of the trailhead by some local cops.
Yep... #8 BD Stopper and a Yellow Alien... Good eye.
Looks similar to the P3 finger crack part of <i>The Womb</i>, also at LG. Great pic.
I got more back, but it looks like he smokes 100's, so his cig is bigger.
Greaqt pic Mark !!!
Good job Lew !!!
I thought Les would have gotten this by now, but here we can clearly see his "package" getting the piano wire action. I seem to remember the same expression a few years ago when we came up with this. Funny pic... Was Les singing a falsetto ???
Less rules !!! He's definately one of Karen and I's favorite people.
Look at those beautiful eyes... Russ, you're a gonner for sure when she wants something.
Great pic !!! Tim... Looks like you've doen this "boulder problem" according to the ascents, so did you <i>boulder</i> it since it's so "short" ??? The RDB lists it as a Trad climb not a boulder problem.
With all that patina, why would anyone TR this ??? Looks like it gets juggy the higher ya go. Nice pic.... Should clone out the graffiti though.
Outstanding picture !!! I gotta get to this place when I come back to the South in August... Think I'll wait till Fall though for better temps. Hawksbill is at the top of my list for Linville, Table Rock was OK.
A great route.
Dammit... It's "Gieco" not "Gecko" !!!
I wanna do this badly, as Tim told me this is his nemisus.
It's actually pretty easy if you have some core strength.
Where's the "Bop-It" ???
Rubbing alcohol will fix that.
You guys need to climb steeper stuff, or were you two roped up on a Class 3 approach ??? lol
Nice action shot.
Another shot of one of my favorite .9s anywhere. The crux is below the tree, and pulling the roof is easy compared to it. Great route, and great pic. I remember doing this route with a friend's rack, and he only had one cam that fit the crack he's starting, so I had to <i>take it with me</i>.
One of my favorite .9s anywhere... A great route and picture.
Oh man... I love this pic. I gotta get down under, as you guys have some choice stone.
Nice pic. This pic reminds me of why I actually enjoy the camping part of road and/or weekend climbing trips. My wife and I have a stove top espresso maker for the required caffine fix.
Left at the roof.
Go kiddo !!!
It's the top of the 2nd pitch... This is where all belay from, as there's a huge bolder to sling to tie into.
Hey... I just climbed with her. Nice pic Jay.
Wo !!! Great picture... Makes me want to go there now. Outstanding.
Welcome to the site Steve, how's SGT treating you ???<br>He started to stand as soon as he could pull up on things.... About 3 months ago, he was just a bit more 'wiggly' then.
This has me beat... When I had my cast on I led the roof at my gym, but I couldn't make the approaches to any crags. Good job Amber.
<b>Air Time !!!</b> Nice pic brutha.
Great pic !!! Beautiful little roof.<p>BTW... Rope <i>would be</i> in a bad position if she were leading, but you can see another rope coming through the crack to show she is 2nding and trailing a rope.
Outstanding picture... I think this is one of the <b>BEST</b> bouldering shots I've ever seen. Please, just tell me the right hand's not on a jug... At V8, I would guess there are no jugs on this problem.
Like I've always said... "Rock does a body good." Man I wish I could climb slopers well.
Just like I told ya b4 you went, huh ???
Great shot of the top of my favorite climb thus far.
Yea... His daddy can be pretty "smug" at times also.
Great pic Louie. Did you put up this route ???
As always, good job brutha Louie.
Another great shot Louie, and still looking smooth Jack. Did you develope this area Louie ???
Paul... They mainly speak Potuguese(sp?) in Brazil, as I dated a Brazilian some years back.
Paul... Brutha... When you hit on a guy's chick, you gotta duck brutha.
I just noticed that the people who developed the pics, turned the negatives over when the made the prints, as the TSOL on my beenie is backwards.
Outstanding !!! Foot-to-hand matches aren't easy.
Nice pic Jules... When ya com'n out to visit Karen, Justice and I ???
Hell frik'n yea !!! Phil... Outstanding shot brutha. Gotta be the best Trad shot on the site.<br>You can actually hear him (spoken while holding breath)... "Mmmm... Gotta make clip."
Hell yea !!!
Outstanding pic Bob !!!<br>Blue collar climbing at it's finest.
...and this is your cat on drugs !!!
Have her get into a spa somewhere, then ask her if having one of these in the backyard to get into under the moonlight would be cool.
Great picture of a really great route... I loved it when I did it a few years ago.
Used to smoke while climbing all the... Key words, "used to", as I quit on 1/1/05. :)
Didn't know this pic was taken... Good ascent Matt.
Hey... I remember taking this pic.
Outstanding lockoff brutha !!!
Hell of a pic Louie... I gotta go climb'n with ya bra.
Right hand up, then rock over onto the left foot and stand.
Nice pose on a TR. ;p
Wow... Really articulate !!!
OMG!!! You have Backstreet Boys posters ?!?!?<br>I guess that lifestyle is OK, especially when you're from SanFran. Lemme guess, you work in the Tenderloin, right ???
Wow... I've never seen it from this angle. A great problem in an area of great problems. Nice shot.
You're going the wrong way gurl. <BR>BTW... You gotta come visit Karen and I now that you are on the left side of the country. Last time we saw you, you weren't even old enoughy to drive, and we had no kids... Now we have <B>TWO</B>.
Hey... I know this climb.
Hey... I know these people too !!!
Welcome to a new way of life !!!
'Cause I wasn't strong enough to pull the move off statically.
Hey... I know her.
Hey... Karen and I have written in that.
Outstanding pic !!!
Damn... You cut your hair.
Nice look on ya... Can you believe I had blue hair at <a href="http://www.rockclimbing.com/photo/photo_show.php?id=4339">one time</a> ???
Actually... I quit 2 years ago.
Outstanding picture that, to me, epitomizes much of climbing in one picture.
F'in sweet !!!
Beautiful f'n picture brutha... Just outstanding.
I've climbed at Owens, and I hate to see climbs that can take natural pro bolted, but... <BR>As stated above, Owens is tuff <I>(a type of rock consisting of consolidated volcanic ash)</I> and is not as solid as it looks in a picture. And, the ethic at Owens is to bolt, as it is a "sport crag" (a really good one), not a Trad crag. <BR>If you have never been to Owens, are unfamiliar with the area's accepted bolting ethic, and have never climbed on tuff, but still think it should be chopped, then you really should put down the climbing rag and get out of the gym, since you'd probably need a ladder to reach the bolts anyway.
Crank'n on the Limestone... Go Art !!!
This has gotta be one of the best pictures I've EVER seen in my life, anywhere, climbing or not. Simply breath-taking.
Wow... Great pic.
That's my bro... Good on ya Mike.
Look'n good brutha... And Mike doesn't have 'attitude' as much as he has enthusiasm, and that enthusiasm is contagious, as he has definately pushed me to climb harder in a very friendly way.
Did he whack you with that stick ?!?!?
Solid chicken wing... Probably a heel/toe wedge... Big fat purple cam. Blue collar climbing at its best bro.
That rules !!!
Go dude... Go !!!
I love playing on this problem.
Nice pic... Good lead.
Best part about rockclimbing... Taking off the shoes. ;p
Offwidths suck !!!
I've done plenty, and will likely do more, I'm a masochist.
Get in deep, feel secure, but make no progress... Gotta fight.
As Mike Reardon once put it to me:
"Do the equivilant of 100 situps to move up 1 foot, repeat process until at top... No way to really look good, or do it with any style. Definately 'blue-collar climbing'."
Good job bro... Way to suck it up and take a beating.
Hey... I know that guy, and have heard many of his stories, some over a campfire and food.
Nice lock off.
Beautifull... Mag quality. Nice lead too.
Outstanding shot !!!
Hey... I remember climbing with you guys, b4 kids. :(
Looks like you're on a 'Blair Witch' Hunt.
I ahte it when that happens. :]
Cool thing that 'chicks dig scars'. :]
Go girl! Great shot.
Reminds me of 'Inverted Layback' in the Gunks at the Near Trapps, or exiting the belay station atop the 2nd pitch of 'Open Book' in Tahquitz, except the other way... Nice pic.
Airtime!!! Good shot!
Jesus ?!?!? You don't look of semitic descent at all brutha, you look more northern European... Like Eric the Red. Funny how the movies and Westernization has led many to believe Jesus was even close to blond and blue.
I loved Sam's Throne, almost as much as Mt Magazine. Nice shot.
Great pic... I like the wide landscape view.
"I'm the King of the World !!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Nice... I knew I recognized this climb: http://www.rockclimbing.com/photos/Trad/_Congratulations_5.11a_Joshua_Tree_Ca_2387.html
Clever... Good think'n.
You can climb it on lead Jay... It'd just go at R/X instead of G, right ??? Not everything need to be G rated bro, just like highball boulder broblems don't need to be bolted either, right ???
This is a beautiful picture brutha.
Damn guys... I actually like the lines, I mean, umm, curves.
Damn !!! Great picture !!! I love the rope all the way down to the belay, great perspective.
I love what looks like a wire gate biner (upper right) loaded on the gate added for extra strength. Nice attention to detail. Bravo !!!
Great problem, but I chickened out when commiting to the top, and I even had Michael Reardon and friends egging me on.
Sweet crack... Looks like it's gonna get brutal up higher. Hard to climb the fat stuff with grace.
Offwidth at its best, or worst, which ever your perspective.
I'm gonna have to build something similar... I just printed this out for ideas. Good job bro!
Who wears those?
Best picture I've seen in a long, long while!
Best avatar evar... Great pic.
juan... You should do 'your research' and see who you are talking to. Seriously, hermano. He even gave it 5 stars.
Dude... I recognized this from your profile pic right away.
One of my favorite climbs, and a great lead.
Outstanding picture of the 2nd!
I like this a lot... I printed it out twice, once for my cube, and I may actually frame the other and hang it along with climbing pics.
Just n00b 5.9 wanna-be elitists who fail to understand that the above 'gym climber' would likely flash their hardest climbs outside in flip-flops.
Dude! That looks like it's from Lord of the Rings!
I'd be very interested in the Geology of that formation, and the detailed process that created it.
Let me be more specific... I understand how limestone is formed, but I am more interested in the detailed erosion process that created that, as I don't see a bunch of rubble at the bottom, and it's pretty isolated and semetric.
Great route! My wife and I did this in 38 degree weather with a stiff breeze. Burrr!!!
I did this with a big painfull blister on my foot, and Mike Reardon heckling me calling me a "cry baby" as he was belying me. Great route!
"you climb with your watch on?"...
I do, especially on long multi-pitch Trad routes. Am I doing it wrong?
You talkin' to me?
new user... no posts... nothing other than the above comment? weak brutha!
Excellent foot work brutha! =]
Wow! You sure told me. You're just too 'sick' man. Can't wait to see you on the front page of R&I or Climbing. Why are you way below the bolt? Did you like take a huge whipper on the crux of that 5.5?
Nice Phil... You captured the lock off well.
Sigh... This pic makes me miss the Gunks in a big way! Outstanding picture! Really captures why I like that place so much.
I don't have a helmet though... Does that mean I've been doing it wrong all this time?
I thought I recognized this line:
I knew I recognized this picture:
I knew I recognized that pic... Michael Reardon (RIP, brutha) freesoloed that:
Great pic... Good anticipation and positioning to get this angle.
Reminds me of those intense times when the crash pad looks like a postage stamp.
Jay, get this off the FP.
Nice! When I saw this on the front page I thought this was Devil's Tower.
I love it! Great shot... To me, this is true climbing!
Nice! Front page material!
Rope, but no belayer... What's the point?
That's an extremely interesting looking rock type in the background... Where si this place, and what type of rock is that? Conglom?
Nice... In the masochistic way that is off-width climbing!
Pure blue collar climbing.
Welcome to climbing... If you get into it, you'll likely find that it's more of a lifestyle than just a sport.
Very nice... Reminds me of my son's first hanging bivy:
That route was frigin hard.
So... Does size matter?
Where is this?
Great shot... Trad climb too!
WOW!!!! What a beautiful picture! You should make a poster of this, as I would buy one.
Good job on a fun route bro!
Stately Pleasure Dome, with Lake Tenaya in the background... One of my favorite places.
Looks like up near Lynville Gorge or Rumbling Bald, perhaps?
PS...Prepare for all the comments from lonely males.
Been to Moore's Wall near there...
One of my favorite places in NC - Reminds me of the Gunks.
This is such a great picture. Seriously.
I like this pic a lot!
I like this pic.
Pain and suffering. :)
That's gonna leave a mark!
