yes, she is, but neither her nor I ever find much reason to comment.

Ahh... the way 5.7 used to be!

For my taste the color is way to saturated--and I like lots of color. Also the white balance is WAY OFF. I'm assuming that's supposed to be a white t-shirt.

4 out of 5 stars Beautiful Shot!

Thanks! this was shot with a fuji disposable--a camera I despise, but with judicious photoshop work the prints turn out all right in the end

I do like this picture, as I find it difficult to capture this particular color of rock as well as you have. I do feel however that the over-saturated sky detracts slightly from the rock. But, then, I can't look at a photo without thinking of some way to improve it (at least in my eyes). I would try playing with a hue/saturation adjustment layer and layer mask to subdue the sky a bit and make the rock pop just a little more.--my two cents.

I wouldn't necessarily say that the photo is oversharpened, but sharpening could be improved by using a smaller radius in the Unsharp Mask filter. Also, working in a higher gamma colorspace (most PC machines default settings) tends to emphasize the white halo effect when sharpening.

I have to agree somewhat with pico23. The composition is not great--my eyes keep being drawn into the big blue emptiness. I think people are more struck by the accurate colors and nice saturation but don't know how to express themselves.

5 out of 5 stars That's the best pitch I've every climbed!!!!

Actually it is Phonolite Porphyry! Similar hexagonal columns, but no quartz crystals. The main crystals are Feldspar.

Yeah, this image really suffers being under 48k! You should see the 12"x30" print I had made!!

3 out of 5 stars What's with the strange edge effects between the trees and the skies??? Was that done on purpose or is it an accident?

In case anyone is confused, this is traditionally considered the third pitch of Durrance, Cussin' Crack--and really, it's only 5.5. :)

View this Photo
Not that I'm the Devils Tower Police, but traditionally this is considered the second pitch of the climb, The Durrance Crack.

Nice shot! Depending on how you got there, this is usually considered the second pitch of the climb, The Durrance Crack. It certainly is sustained!

5 out of 5 stars As much as I thought Lake Louise sucked (to many tourons, including me, and canoes to get a decent photo) when I was there this summer, this pic makes me want to go back. A magnificent shot!

4 out of 5 stars When I got to the top the first time I climbed this, I just had to look at the back side to see if the anchor bolts went all the way through! The rock is so thin that I half expected to see a nut and washer on the opposite side. :>

Yeah, that climb just goes on and on, doesn't it?
