Nice. Guy needs to practice "soft face', though.
Looks fun. Kinda slabby though.
Nothing like a rusty buttonhead to inspire confidence.
Jesus that's a highball!
Nice. This route packs a lot of action into a small package. Exciting start, and if this is your limit, keep moving once it starts getting steep.
Looks like a great cliff.
Nice. The background is a bit busy which detracts from the excellent position and lighting on the climber.
I think its ok, but I can't believe that people are rating it so high! It's a nice enough angle and the light is ok if a bit flat, but the gimmicky flag move screams "No Fear!". Goofy.
Can I get a spot over here???
Beautiful range of dark colors.
Dig it! His hair is "just so".
This isn't a fantastic shot technically--the background is bit busy for my taste, maybe could've zoomed up on the climber some, but it captures something essential about climbing. Maybe its the concentration both of the climber, and belayer. So hey, nice job...
This looks like an interesting shot--something about the composition is cool, but its so small, too much detail is lost. Got a larger version?
Rough, its all the bright colors. I bet you still play with a Lite Bright, eh? Just kidding. Fun looking route, nice pic.
Whoa! Isn't that Saddam Hussein's old hideout??
Looks like a nice route. Good perspective from a tough angle to take photos. Nice job.
Beauty such as this makes me weep. It reminds me that life is a beautiful thing. At least until a hungry predator comes along and swallows you whole. Here's an 8 for your resume.
I think her concentration is faltering. Just kidding, nice intensity of gaze, and color too.
I agree climbsomthing. It's almost a cliche, these silhouette shots. But it has good timing and excitment factor what with the solo climber.
Am I allowed in Turkey?
Good action, flat color.
Reminds me of me when I was young. I still have food on my face.
Ahh, you're bringing back fond memories of warm French limestone, red wine, and a tortuous uphill trudge! La Cascade is fantastic.
Interesting rock. Better if the climber was wearing red.
Exciting. Cool shirt, too.
Whoa! Headless climber!
What rock is that? It looks familiar. And is that a VAN DOWN BY THE RIVER? Here, stuff this "10" in your resume.
Can you find the mountain hidden in this photo?
Might be better if he wasn't actually sitting on his ass.
You said it.
Can a guy get a spot?
Sorry, he's disqualified. Knee bars and other jessery invalidate an ascent.
Dude, could you move to the left? You're in my sun.
Who are those dudes worshipping you at the base? You have your own cult--that's cool, me too!
Please, tell me that's an honest to god mullet, and not some chick hairdo...
He's missing the obvious right knee bar...
Please post more pictures of this climb.
It feels like 11a if you skip the first four clips.
Hey, I like this pic!
I tried that once. It turned into: A pad, a some chalk, a boulder, some tape, a camera, a truck, a dog, a partner, some energy bars, some water, a pullover, a brush, some beer, suddenly it wasn't so simple. Oh, nice pic though.
Je pense que c'est la voie "Je suis un legend" a la sectuer La Carralle, 7a.
Ehhhggg. I did that thing once. Took me two hours and multiple severe abrasions, and I think I barfed from fear. It was fantastic.
Fun? Ice is for mixing drinks. Period.
That Skip? Guy's an animal...
Whoa, nice Satchmo impersonation!
Nice looking boulders! When are you going to give the LeatherNun and I a tour of that place??
Nice! I can't wait to get spanked there.
I'm pretty sure thats it. It's a pretty recognizable climb, right at the main touristy sector where everyone goes to gape over the edge...the belay is done by simply wrapping the rope around the railing once or twice.
That's not a hand, that's a damned hobbit foot!
Great. Now when I go do my fave handcracks, some freaks smelly footgrease is gonna be in there? That's just foul.
Foothooking? I think you need to visit Amsterdam's Red Light sector for that...
Whoa, did your head fall off? Jesus that's disturbing...the headless falling climber!
Because he's your former lover? Your wife's former lover? You're supposed to be belaying him at the same time? Because you were scared he'd fall with the rope behind his leg and you were trying to decide whether to take the picture or warn him??
Hey, comraderie sounds great. We don't have that here, but being leader of a cult has its rewards too. Anyway, sounds like comraderie involves the @ss a little too much. I'll stick with my worshipers. And pads are for old ladies and weak boulderers!
Well, if it is no the mirror it wouldn't get to the film--the mirror flips up to let the light in. So my guess might be there is a warp on the backplane surface that the film is resting against?
Looks like a nice area--and bridge!
Nah, photon, it is polished. You're makin' me homesick, TR.
Yes, a Hero's Heart, And Six Pack Abs Don't Hurt Either...
Go Jeremy. And get me some sunglasses when you do because your white skin is blinding me!
Ahh hell man I don't know. You could be right. We did so much acid back in those days its impossible to tell if we did something or just thought we did. Nice shots anyway.
Sorry dudes, did that back in 85. We called it "Steve Zich's Armpit" and rated it B1.
I love Rifle so here's an honorary 10. I can practically feel the slickness of those polished blocks and smell the fetid armpits of the dirtpile dirtbags. Mmm.
I'm not sure I'm old enough to be looking at this.
Well if he's going to laugh at my hangers, I'm going to spread rumours about his nuts.
Wow ed you sure do have a lot of sponsors.
I know of a cat that did that problem in '72.
The guano isn't slippery, but it does taste like s**t. As for age, well, you can't see my mantits in this shot so I do look young.
I'm about to do the crux. The anchors are another 30' up. Nice long pitch, almost 30 meters. It's not run out, but I think foreshortening is causing the bolts to appear a bit closer together than they really are.
Whoa now, stop it some more. Can someone who's actually met me post up and disillusion these lovely creatures regarding this accidentally handsome picture?
Joe, let's go climbing. No reason. Just because.
Oh hell yah I'm using the knee. Yvon Chouinard told me once if you aren't using your knees you aren't trying hard enough. So I studied under Chris Knuth and learned the secrets of the knee masters.
It is an exciting clip, done from a jug just inside the top frame of the pic. The LeatherNun wasn't fazed of course.
Sorry, I can't get with the high ratings. Bad light, nothing particularly sharp, the sole redeeming quality is the story it tells, which isn't that thrilling: "Man in tent sees mountain".
I guess its just me though.
Rembrandt you ain't.
God that place is a miserable, loose, crowded, slippery pile. And I love every bit of it.
Think unroll, not uncoil.
Nice shot. Submit higher quality!
You could make a german lampshade with that.
Nice! Captures the essence of bouldering perfectly. Bright sun, friends, holding on so hard you need dental work.
Join the photo critique forum! We love to tell you what's wrong with your captures. And sometimes even what's right!
Wow. Five tries and his hair is perfect. What's his secret? BTW, Apollo is a better choice for a first 13a, its only 12b.
Are those guys a couple yet?
11c/d? Every bit 11d. Nice shot. Even if he is taking style cues from Mrs. Butterworth.
Well that's drama! Again with the centeredness but this pic tells a great story!
Nice texture, almost a very good shot, but could use a bit more contrast to bring out the dark mysterious right edge, climbing is centered a little too much in the, um, center.
This is Spice? Looks like the 5.11 on the right end of Oswald. Ah well nice shot anyway.
Rotate 90 degrees right and do some cropping. Nice capture.
Nice. Sling is distracting though.
Here's a ten, just for being blonde.
Pfff. Who care's about climbing. Being blonde is much more important. I should know.
That's a very handsome climber.
No such thing as "only" a sport lead. Keep rockin.
If that was my nose I'd photoshop the hairs out. Maybe give myself a nosejob, too. But then I'm vain like that. Interesting shot though. Here's a 10 for amusements sake.
I too, always like to belittle other climbers, post useless comments about 35 foot sport climbs, because it makes me feel more important, and I have a frantic need to impress other climbers, even though my ploy is obvious, you never know when some unsuspecting noob might not realize how elite I am.
Shut up kalcario, you miserable hack.
Yes, bvb, its a joke. You must have come late to the party to have just figured that out. I gave it a five. That's 4 for interesting texture, 1 for color, and -5 for boring ass half blurry movement of an average looking putz in jeans and an out of fashion belt, all warmed up over a distracting foreground. Now suck it up and go do what any self-respecting rc.com hack would do and go downrate one of my pics.
It's so disturbing that he's just a piece of meat first, and no one even notices that he's a strong as hell climber.
Looks sort of steep.
Looking strong V.
Nice. Love the storyboard effect. A beautiful little climb.
Looks like you guys have some alright rock down there. Nice shot.
tadam2000, yes I have some shots of her climbing the rest of the route. Unfortunately, the sun was blasting on the lower part of the wall and the ground, and I couldn't get good exposures of those moves. I'm trying to ply my limited PS skills to see if I can get something decent, I'll post if I do. Thanks for the comments everyone.
The weather is always steep at the New!
Mediocre shot. Blown out background. Crap light. Get this shot again in good light and it'll be an 8.
This photo isn't an 8. The color is flat, the background is blown out and the spectators are distracting.
Nice one Rob!
Actually, lovely Nun, that's "The Green Piece".
Wow. We are some pale, pale men.
Ohh, that looks tasty.
I'm getting pumped looking at this. I'm also getting hungry for baguettes and wine.
This makes me nervous.
True we should humble him a bit and he seemed to find more difficulty two climbs leftward, (and despite logging miles toward Frequent Flyer Status, fought to the top...)
He disposed of the upper bulge with ease, also.
Nice shot, well done.
That's a kick butt photo.
A nice looking rock.
Not Steve Mclure.
I dig it. Excellent job whatever the camera. To create beauty with the limits of your tools is art.
Winner. Bigger please!
No place better to be on a nice evening.
Gotta love the 3 foot sling. Someone should put that thing out of its misery. Not a bad shot.
Ready to rock.
Fascinating, this from the Area Description:
"Being the only real climbing area within sixty kilometres of Brisbane it is extremely popular with beginners and experts as a training area for the bigger crags. There are over 150 distinct climbs put up on this cliff over the last forty years. Being a quarry, the cliffs are quite loose in places but the Brisbane City Council has endeavoured to remove the choss with some success making the easier climbs safer. Because of this the climbs lack the visual appeal of a natural cliff but most offer excellent climbing especially in the harder and less travelled grades. Concrete bollards are situated along the top giving easy points for top-ropes and abseils. "
Wow. He looks so ready, for...something.
Nice crimpergirl. Vive la RRG!
And left of Butcher Man.
Easy there. Keep running that kind of smack and he'll be showing up in a tutu.
Besides, its a damned cute helmet. A very nice send, L-Nun.
Actually Kush, that is the 11 b/c two climbs left of Bandolier. I believe the name is Receiver.
Thanks Kush. Are you sure? Isn't this the route that S and R did a few routes to the left of Sex Farm at Left Flank I checked the online guide, I believe this is "Brother Stair", 5.9. http://www.redriverclimbing.com/RRCGuideV2/show_route.php?id=71
you aren't phoning it in
Should be higher rating nice one.
Actually Kush is correct, I've edited the description to correct the route.
What's wonderful about the blur is that only his hand is still...nice one!
I guess bouldering wasn't big then but you wouldn't have realized it at Carderrock or Flagstaff. Anyway, nice timing on the image.
Don't be a hater mbvegas, those are my best draws. Times are tough.
You aren't phoning it in!
I met that chick at the red. Babe factor ++.
Oh the Red. I miss my home.
Mmm. Of course trees don't always grow straight up. 'Specially under a steep cliff. Or maybe he just tilted the camera a little. But I think you knew that dingus, you instigator. My criticism? Too much black frame. And its tilted.
Apparently this photo is on the back of Cater's new book.
It's a genuine 5.6. The start is probably underwater during the summer months. Note the dark waterline at the start.
Left of Les
Is that a full windsor or 4 in hand?
I love Enchanted Tower. I just wonder what the hell holds it up.
Did you try the new route just to the left?
Nice dog. Now put her on a leash.
Malcom Daly, I think owns Stonewear now? We have a higher resolution version of this--the detail is disgustingly cool.
Kush Saves the Day!! I like the clean dome look too. Very guru -ish.
What's up with that glowbulb on your back, bro? Nice color saturation! And good job on Reaux Champeux too!
You have got to be kidding me? How is this not an 11? Please, submit this at a bigger size. Perfect!
This is, without a doubt, the top picture of Rockclimbing.com. If this isn't on the front page within ten minutes, I'm quitting.
Nice shot! Deserves to be rated higher. Beautiful lines and texture.
I guess some people still need a rope on that climb? Nice shot Dan, might show up on wirednut soon...
What a hanging pile of choss! What that hell is holding that rubble mound upside down like that? Looks fun as hell.
Point taken, but perhaps they add to the feeling of mystery...
Forking? Haha! We say spooning. Nothing embarrassing about it, as long as you are of complimentery genders, or barring that, it should be very, very, very cold.
Nice shot Wes! Go kush
Definitely! It's great to climb with a future ex-wife.
That's great. Brings back memories. Last time I did that climb was 1986. I wonder if I still have the sack. Maybe I'll do a 20th anniversery ascent. Nice pick kachoong, and Jay, I will see you soon.
Wild. There's a head shape in the rock to the left.
Did I just stumble onto kneefetish.com? 'Cause usually they ask me for a password.
Drama on the High Plains! Are you Matt? And how do you guys always get involved in such drama? Chipping, chopping, wah wah wah.
Haha! So right Dingus. My dog (RIP Kira!) used to intently watch us climb. Then she'd roll her eyes, "Useless sport. When's lunch?". Is that an Aussie with a tail?
I wanna take a bath in your gear.
Well I would believe that except jay's shit is a better device than that squeebly little cinch. If jay shat out a device I'm pretty sure it was a #5 BIGBRO, brah!
Nice. How big are they?
Sweet. The New at its finest. Keep em comin' Dan.
Looks like a great day. Takes a lot of carrots to get up there.
Awesome. I toproped that back in 85.
And I flashed that turd straight up btw. If you recall, I "fell" on Bandolier at the chains, waiting for someone (ahem) to unknot the rope, which had a knot that only allowed me to reach to within 6" of the anchor clip! Hilarious!
