IMHO that's incredibly bold. good form. i'd be terrified of that chimney; rating? how run out was she at that point? looks like she stitched it up down low but i imagine placing in that chimney might be rough

gotta agree there. most trad pitches i've belayed i don't see my leader the whole time. and even if i can see him i'm usually not looking up 100% of the time. for instance you need to look down a bit to make sure you don't have too much slack out. the belay here does look a little sketch though; as the belayer's hand seems way close to the belay device, but the picture's not clear enough to really tell that tale. also curious what the belayer is standing on; looks precarious; also it looks like you're in a full conversation with the person on your left, but who am i to judge? :)

why the bolts? surprising to see them next to what looks like reasonable cracks; but i guess the area was built as a sport destination?

i know that look

it also looks like she ran it out from that crack on the side to where she is?

you might think i'm nitpicking but i've had to many dangerous things happen to care, i really think she needs another leason on leading and an easier climb to practice placing gear

when you say "first lead" i imagine you don't mean the "first time she ever lead trad" do you? seems rather challenging for a first lead, perhaps hence the unfortunate gear

yup

that harness looks rather light; did she sew it up early and have to run it out later or is it short? a couple extenders or runners would have been well worth it
