Traverse
Location: Cascade Mountain, Banff, Alberta
Route: East face – Bankhead Buttress
Photographer: Hugh MacPherson
Description: There were some very thin spots, vertical knife blades and a few hook moves, to get your heart pumping.
This route follows an overhang that varies between a few inches and 6 feet. The overhang is barely visible from the road and rather resembles a slightly lighter color band of rock. It is 1 pitch up to the overhang, and 5 pitches of traversing. Due to the way the valley floor rises towards Lake Minnewanka and the traverse is level, you end up back on the ground with no descent.
