Snake Dike's Alternate Route (view)
When we started hiking, we were unaware that the John Muir trail was close due to fires. Some YOSAR people informed us, and handed us a topographical map - "just head between Liberty Cap and Mt. Broderick - you'll run into Half Dome, it will just be a bit rough." This is the most benign part of the alternate route, and we took a few moments to revel in what Yosemite has to offer when no tourists disturb you.
