Central park bouldering. pretty good, even at 15 degrees

I went to vist my friend steve who lives in Brooklyn for the summer and decided we'd check out the bouldering in central park. I got the guide online and then forgot to print it so we just kind of did stuff until we got tired. Here's Steve going for the top.

Boulder in front of me, Skyscrapers behind. The chalk helped make this picture all the more weird.

Here's Sergio slapping for the sloper at the topout of the Cat Arete. About as sketchy and exposed-feeling as you get in NYC (unless you take to scaling skyscrapers)!

The Mecca of Bouldering...Central Park, NYC. Well, we do what we can. :) Here, Juan reaches for the slopey notch at the top of the arete. For a warmup problem, it definitely gets the blood pumping...

I forget what boulder this was and the Im definatly not a fan of the rock but it was a great start to a fun day in the city

My wife Jessica bouldering in Central Park NY during a break between rainstorms. The boulders are really cool, but slick as all get out when your shoes are wet.

Full shot of Cat Rock on a busy Autumn day. You can see the well known knifeblade arete in the center.

Yuki coaching me on the west face of Rat Rock. Not sure of the name or grade of the problem, but I'm trying to slap up to the slopers on top.

This is my friend Adam climbing for his very first time outside and loving it. He is doing one of the countless eliminates and contrived problems on Rat Rock. We usually call him D.A.R.Y.L. because he is sick like a cyborg (the name comes from the 80's movie with same name about the awesome cyborg kid). Definatly worth going to a few times because it is a really cool setting.

The real problem i had here was that in summer the holds and you aren't dry... so grab that jug/slopper is not that easy....
