Notch Peak (upper & lower section)

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Notch Peak (upper & lower section)

This is the view from the top of Tachycardia (5.11), an incredible climb in the lower canyon. Though the entire lower section of Notch Peak is not visible, one can still get the feeling of the immense nature of the north face of the peak.

upper North Face of Notch peak

Average Rating = 0.00/5 upper North Face of Notch peak

approximate location of current routes. The original swiss route (1986) is not shown, it is believed to be to the climbers right of a direct summit line in an indistinct chimney/weakness.

Upper N. Face routes

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Upper N. Face routes

This shot was taken from the top of "Appetite for Destruction" it's a 20 minute walk to the base of "La Fin du Monde" and a little further to get to "Book of Saturdays" If you have climbed "Appetite" and your mind is frayed and you choose not to rappel down that route, you can hike out under the face and make the last rappel below pitch 1 of "Book of Saturdays"

pitch 2 (5.10+/11-)

Average Rating = 4.00/5 pitch 2 (5.10+/11-)

Maybe the finest pitch on the N face. Solid, clean, exciting. 50m with a mix of 7 bolts and natural protection through vertical terrain.

Pitch 4 (5.11+)

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Pitch 4 (5.11+)

this is the 5.11 very well protected start to pitch 4 of "Appetite". The climbing becomes a little run out at 5.10. then finishes with a 5.11+ boulder problem. (36m)

pitch 4

Average Rating = 0.00/5 pitch 4

"Appetite for Destruction" is on the lower N face of Notch peak. Pitch 4 is 5.11+, mostly bolted. The route is 9 full pitches, and can be combined with one of several routes on the upper wall for 18-20 pitches... oh yeah, it is loose, but for the choss pile alpinist, it is pure adventure! 5.12-
