The Bastille Crack is an amazing climb. Climbing this with Kevin was superb. I had been looking forward to this climb all year long. We did the route in 3 pitches. Pitch 1, pitch 2 & 3 and pitch 4 & 5. Photo taken on 8-3-2005

Title says it all. IMO, the crux is close to the top of the 3rd pitch. Lots of gear donated in that spot.

The guide books call this 5.8 and it may be if you find the secret handhold. I chickened out right about where you see me. As I was lowering off I saw the fixed pin I missed and the secret handhold.

Rewritten's hand traverse was easier that I thought it would be, There are plenty of edges for the feet. Fun, easy, and exposed climbing. Eric (Squeakyclimber) is the climber.

This arete has some of the best position in the canyon, a *** classic.

Just kidding, Tracy really isn't looking for a spot to place a cam. Butt, a good crack is always useful for gear placement!

Great climbing with Mother_sheep (taking pic) and Nicerack. First time I ended "needing" my headlamp. Was pretty thrilling.

The night was creeping in fast and we ended our rapells by lamplight.

Southernsuz and Bustinmins take a break. Taking this picture was much harder than the route. No tripod available so we had to balance the little digital camera from a rock just above the anchor.

My first climb was in Eldo on The Bomb with bustinmins. I couldn't help goofing around when we got to the top because I was ready to sh*t my pants on the way up.

Randy is my gym and sport climbin friend. He's one of the few people that you meet in life that you would hang the moon for if you could. A great friend indeed. Here we are on a ledge on Wind Tower one day after work.

Diane starting up the 5.9 second pitch of Over The Hill. Super fun thin crack / face climbing on a steep slab. This can also be used as the second pitch for Emerald City (5.9) or Over and Out (5.8), both of which are fun lines.

Very nice pitch albeit short. If you've just led P1 of Chianti or Break On Through, this keeps consistant with the 5.8 grade.

Verschneidung - excellent dihedral in the moderate range. I can't think of a better stemming problem at the grade.

The exposure wasn't bothering her at all. She just cruised up, smiling all the way.
