Jenn seconding the first pitch of the Direct East Face. Not a lot of pro, but super fun climbing none the less.

jeff and me pausing for a ginger beer while rapping off the first flatiron. It's only a 90 ft rappel but the photo is still cool.

We did this trip last Fall 2004, and the weather was amazing. Sunny and clear, what else more can you ask for. The pic is Tanner climbing up and his brother with the rope. I took the shot form above.

On the summit of the First Flatiron. I swear this isn't as obscene as it looks.

This is me on the 2nd pitch of the east face. Even though the climb wasnt too hard that day gave me a taste of multi pitch climbing, very cool.Photo was taken from my bud Dave.

My wife and my brother-in-law, sorting out gear after the three of us climbed The Spy AKA the First Flatironette. The accessibility of so many moderate trad classics in the Flatirons really got me excited about moving to Boulder. Someday . . .

We did the route in about 4 hour car to car. Real ez climbing most of the time we ran each pitch out 200 feet. I never had more than two pices of gear on any pitch. The first pitch and the roof were the only 5.6 sections to me.

This is me after finishing the Direct East Face, of the first flatiron. A classic climb and one of my first multipitches. Great Climb with amazing exposure. I was practically soloeing it by only placing 2 pieces of gear in 9 pitches of climbing, but it is pretty low angle slab. Highly recommended fun 5.6.

This is Peter Swank climbing up after me on the 2nd or 3rd pitch. The views and exposure just get better and better. I really enjoyed this climb, and hope to be able to do it again and again.

This is the second day on this route. We had to bail the first day because of a strong storm and hail. We bailed off the north ridge to the slope below. It was less than half a rope lenght down but it was really scary because I couldn't see the bottom - thankfully my partner had done his homework and knew exactly how far it was to the bottom.
The route is really easy - hard to protect at times though.

Here's a picture high up on the East Face Direct route. An easy climb but watch out for the first pitch...it's pretty run out slab climbing and will get the heart pumping...
