Problem #33 - a 2 starred V2 on the Submarine Boulder at Spittle Hill, Castle Hill. A fun lil' problem consisting of smears, pockets and a bit of grunt! If you're a shorty like me, use your foot on the under-cave at the beginning!

I took this photo while having a quick morning climb at Castle Hill while on my trip to NZ. The route is called orifice fish v3. I don't know the names of the two climbers, but when I spoke to them they mentioned they were from the surounding area. It was sunny and warm in the basin while snowing on the mountian peaks around me. I can't wait to go back with more time and climb some of this amazing rock. Graded at 18 (5.10a), but the lichen and very thin gear at the top make this seem a bit harder. Great route anyway, especially considering it is one of the better ones around. Photo by socialclimber

our school took a trip up to our lodge at castle hill, so we could climb. this is my mate toproping his way up tales from the riverbank. and yes, i know my camera is shit.

I had seen this problem on rc.com and told Gary (socialclimber) I wanted to try it before we left. An area classic, which means polished by years of muddy boulder shoes. I only made it part of the way. Gary (spotting) made it to the top, but couldn't finish. Maybe next time!

This route has large moves between jugs with a dyno towards the top, a super fun problem, except for the polished foot holds.
