This is a not good placement of a Nº5 Camalot in a not happy Trad route during a traverse section...no other pro was posible...I did this route leading and my partner was not happy with this pro (i mean it).

Martin seeing if he can will the rope into the draw without letting go of those nice jugs. Although I don't know the name of this route in Difuntos, I can assure you it's one of the most action packed 5.9s that you'll ever find.

This small wall in Difuntos is called Totanka, and though it may not look like much, it's home to about 15 excellent sport routes, ranging from 5.7 to 5.12.

I don't know what this route is called, by it packs more exciting 5.9 moves into 4 bolts than most routes twice its length. Here's a shot of Martin powering his 200 pound body past the first crux while Gaby carefully examines the rope pattern.

The beautiful estancia at the base of Difuntos was actually owned by a Mexican drug lord's widow, who fled to Argentina in an attempt to control her dead husband's enormous wealth. Later commandeered by the Argentine army, Difuntos was closed off for several years. Here's a shot of Analia taking advantage of the area's newly reopened status, by topping out on the aesthetic 5.7 route De Las Avipas.

Great 5.10s abound, not to mention 5.11s and 5.12s, but you can count all the good 5.7 routes in the Sierras of Balcarce on one finger of one one hand. Here's a shot of Analia climbing De Las Avispas, that one, good 5.7 route, while her husband Martin pulls in the slack.

Nice landscape, wish that route was twice as long! This is the closest rock to where I live, a four-hour drive on a Saturday morning.

The last of three photos of Mar del Plata's Juancho crusing up Baby Boom. Here he gets ready for the crux move, which is a heel hook out right and a strong reach.

One sunny day last winter, Esteban and myself encoutered in Difuntos to make an Asado (a typical Argentinian Barbacue) and climb a lot. While we were aproaching to the Crag i saw Esteban deep in his thoughts and took the shot with my camera. (FujiFilm S5600, B&W Simulation ILFORD SFX).
