The 5.6 route Batman and Robin heads up the obvious west slab and finishes with a juggy ascent to the summit.

The books says 4 pitches but my buddy Sean wrapped the first two into one pitch with very little rope drag--just kind of a tough hanging belay at the top. The ledge behind that big flake would have been better. I led the last two pitches and they turned out tougher than I thought since a sudden thunder storm turned the rock wet and snotty.

Dave and I finished our last climb of the day and headed down because these clouds were getting much too close. Just another typical weather pattern for Lumpy Ridge. Made the climbing a bit sketchy.

One of our own...making it big in Colorado. For a week back in the summer of 2004 I got to climb a few days with the Neptune Mountaineering Buyer...another Oklahoman doing well in Colorado.

This was a very hard 5.9 crack. It may look easy if you stand beneath it, but in reality it is a devious Lumpy flair which I'm pretty sure was designed to kill your feet.

Mike Miller climbing through the crux on Ziggy's Day Out. There is a nice stance after the next move but the climb still is stiff and with thin pro for another 15 feet.

Beautiful fun line on the right side of the hen and chickens wall. Fun lead through an 8 crux, the rest is 5.7. Also keep going past the bolts, good climbing above and stretches the route another 25 ft.

A view from the cave on my solo ascent of Pear Butress. Amazing experience. Pulling the cave is esp. exciting with a soloist ... and a backpack hanging below you (when I did it the second time)

Took this shot as we were hiking out from the Pear Buttress in the late afternoon. After a warm but windy March day, the weather was changing and a snow storm was blowing in.

Pic of me by Dre during our ascent of J Crack, June 2004.
Although we had known each other for years, it was actually the first time we ever climbed together. All clothing donated by Amber...I think I look pretty suave!!

I don't remeber the route name but it was real fun. On the rappels we could see Estes Park filling with smoke from a wild fire that had started that day.

This is a picture of me on the top of Batman Pinnacle after having completed Batman and Robin. I really enjoyed this route and it was pretty easy, which was good for my first time leading more than one pitch.

For my first multi-pitch lead, this was a cool route. We got to the fourth pitch and noticed some storm clouds though, so we bolted for the top and tried to get down fast. It didn't storm. This was my only climb before falling the next day and hurting my arm in my first ever lead fall, ouch.

Sorry to disappoint, but I'm still unsure what the surprise was. This view isn't a bad consolation prize though.

On my way up a dyke on a 5.4 multipitch on The Pear at Lumpy Ridge. This was during a visit to Estes Park, CO over Labor Day weekend 2004.
