After completing the Northwest Books route on our final afternoon in Yosemite, August 2006, Amanda and I took a quick timer shot before struggling to find our way down from this thing. In the distance over Amanda's left shoulder you can see Cathedral Peak, our conquest from the first day of our Yosemite visit.

The most stunning view I have seen from the top of any dome in Tuolumne.

Mani going through the (yawn! 5.6) squeezy crux of this not so interresting climb (unfortunaely we didn't try the 5.9 crack variation). The 2nd pitch is good for a beginner trad leader to place gear as it is a series of ledges that are close to 4th class. The walkoff is scarier than that pitch... Next to it is crying times again, a much more thrilling experience. Mostly bolted.

Follow ledge past the base of the chimney, and up the route variation on your way to the water cracks, and this is the view.

I wish the warm glow of an autumn setting sun reflecting off granite was adequately captured on film.

Mmmm...gear - I mean - this is the approach!

Dave1 led to the top of it, and set top rope with cam, sling, and biners. We had some inexperienced kids with us who really got a kick out of it. I, on the otherhand, just tried to get my body IN it. Tis a little bit of a squeeze if you are over the age of 12 and do not have the chest and/or butt type called "flat."

There are people on Truck n" Drive and people waiting at the bottom. We did get on though and it was great.

Approach scramble up to the base of Northwest Books at the lower smaller tree. Start left and up the friction slab past bolt before reaching the crack at the base of the left facing book. 22 Jul 2004

Lembert dome is a great spot to visit even with no intent of climbing.especially since you can climb half the thing with out even pulling your shoes out. fun stop in the meadow.

Endless pock-marked face! This route is quality all the way.
