Rachel Maine, of Santa Paula, nears the top of the exposed headwall of "Economique," at Wheeler Gorge. The route is Wheeler's newest lead climb and offers an accesible approach pitch for setting up a TR on the classic "Goulara." Economique follows an arete and face that was previously top-roped (originally by Mike Gould). The route was equipped and led by locals Matthew and Marisa Fienup.

Nice Shot of the "Tree Root" from the road. From the bottom right hand corner, follow the thin vertical crack up to the tree. Rico semi-hangs on belay. From the tree follow the crack up and left where Sally McBeal heads out on lead. The route finishes past the last tree near the dark spot.

Taken on the way home from Wheeler Gorge. You can see all the way to Point Conception, about 40 miles north of Santa Barbara and about 60 miles from where the photo was taken. Photo by sbclimber.
