You have to understand, Carson was born with crampons. This type of gift must be nurtured and celebrated. Not officially a winter ascent, but winter conditions still prevailed

A not very alpine solstice hike on South Sister with Robbie from Bend, a good bloke met on rc.com

South Sister from a flat bench at roughly 10,000 feet on a brilliant solstice day, 2006. The standard hiking/mountaineering follows the obvious ridge left before easily traversing to the summit.

I took this one of myself on an evening solo jaunt up south sister. The mountain was surprisingly empty and as magical as ever.
