I couldn't go to the Gunks and not do THE classic. We did the Strictly-Shockley linkup, I forgot to take my clothes off and climb in a swami belt... maybe next time though. Photo by Eric Vaughn

I took this shot on a weekend in early October '05 while rapping off a nearby climb. I lost the climbers # and never got this photo to him (an Italian name, I think. His partner was a girl) He pulled the crux with catlike grace. Help me identify him so we can give credit where credit is due.

This was taken by my friend, Ben, who had just come back from active duty. He had a great time, unfortunetly he had the camera so i didn't get any shots of him in action.

Hanging out on Shockleys after a -very- slow climb. The busy weekend made for a long wait especially because the party ahead of us decided to cut the last pitch into two pitches.

Here I am under the famous roof. I tossed my #2 Camalot in there and cranked the roof just moments later. Not very difficult, but man it was exhilirating! There's something about the history of the climb that just makes it THAT much sweeter. I'll spare the history lesson and keep the pants on this time around, but I make no promises for the future ! ;)

Here I am making the reach for the jug to start the grunt over Shockley's Ceiling. Where else but the Gunks do you get big roof pulls and awesome exosure at only 5.6? The 5.7's and 8's aren't bad though either...

Somehow they knew we were amateurs, I don't know how, but they knew.

Taking a break from it all up on a ledge in the gunks. Not a bad place to be.

Core sends Shockley's Ceiling, Vulgarian style. Apologies to all climbing within 200 feet of us!

Belaying right on top of the "Ceiling" allowed me to hear and see my second and third climbers. Thanks Dick for the beta. Wished I brought another #1 Camalot though.

Took this pic as I waited for a party of two above me to clear the 2nd roof. That's two parties and my belayor who are also waiting to head up.
