Desperation

Average Rating = 3.40/5 Desperation

A sad and dejected Alaskan climber comes slowly to the realization that maybe the 2004 climbing season is getting close to being over. The date is September 25th, and giving up comes hard.

First Trad Lead

Average Rating = 3.82/5 First Trad Lead

This is me on my first trad lead. I got about 6 feet off the deck and it started to rain. Just my luck.. But I finished the route in spite of the fact that both the rock and I were soaked. Thanks to John (coldclimb) for taking the pictures and for lending me some of his gear to do the climb. :)

Monolith Topo

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Monolith Topo

This is a topo that I have put together using Mark Hall's internet guide along with Whitelaw and Pollard's guidebook. I also have updated it a little bit based on first hand knowledge. This is pretty small, if you want to see it bigger, check out my pdf of Hatcher Pass topos.

This was taken in may of 2002 above the Monolith by the Highlander Boulder. Even with all of the snow, it was nearly 75 that day.

This is John Borland (coldclimb) on a fun little 5.10 face we top-roped during the Alaska RC.com gathering. It was good to finally climb with another member besides Micah. Thanks for hauling me up there and catching me John...

Monolith from the end of the road...

Average Rating = 2.75/5 Monolith from the end of the road...

This is a shot of the Monolith in Hatcher Pass from the end of the road up Archangel Valley. A quick walk up the road past the gate brings you to the base of the easiest accessed crag in the Pass. The white dot is a climber on Center Slab Left (5.9).
