Moonlight ButtressThis picture was taken right off of the 8th pitch belay. This is one stellar route. I thought that this thing was supposed to be crowded. We didn't see anyone else jump on this route the week that we were there. (March 2005)

Brian's fall on Lunar Ecstacy, p4?Brian blew a piece after some hook moves and landed on my head. Happily, he had a screamer on an angle so that's what caught him.

Jugging Lunar Ecstacy, p5?This is me cleaning my friend Brian's lead on Lunar Ecstacy, my first and favorite route in zion so far. It's a fun route. I was happier than i look cause this must have been at the lead swap and the top half was mine!

Insane and soloingSelf-portrait from the top of P1, Moonlight Buttress. I took some serious shots, but none of them turned out worth a damn. Ah, well...goofy poses are my specialty anyway.

I'm with Stupid, Sheer LunacyWe Climbed Sheer Lunacy in 3 days, it was either that or sleep in Mosquito Cove and the view was better on Moonlight Buttress. I think we had the ledge set up by 3pm both nights and didn't start climbing until around 11am. This was taken on top of Tokerville Tower, about 180' from the top. We almost fixed the last bit before going to bed but figured if anybody saw, they'd think we were pretty stupid, like the helmet says.

Mark Roberson on Sheer LunacyThis is Mark Roberson on the 5th pitch (as we did it) of Sheer Lunacy, Moonlight Buttress, Zion Nat'l Park. Tommy Hayes (me) shot the picture from the belay. We took our time on this route, did it in three days because the bivy spots were just so nice.

The "awkward" chimney on Pitch 5So I hear horrow stories about this awkward chimney on P5 and how it is a buzzkill for alot of people. No, it isn't that bad. Also there is a damn bolt right in the middle of it. It protects with a #4 camalot. Does anyone carry big gear anymore, or should we just bolt everything bigger than hands?

The view straight down from the P5 hanging belay of MoonlightNothing but air below while hanging out at the hanging belay of P5 of Moonlight Buttress. Paul was leading above, I was hanging out bringing up my rope and looked down to see the sublime air between me and the ground. That's my ascender in the lower left corner.
