Riding the pig

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Riding the pig

This was a joyous moment amongst the 3 days I spent on my first aid solo (my second aid route).

Sunrise in paradise

Average Rating = 3.33/5 Sunrise in paradise

The Rainbow Wall basking in the dawn's early light. Just one of the benefits of an alpine start. The two hour approach is enough to keep the wall free of crowds.

Ascanio leading the 11b fourth pitch

Average Rating = 3.00/5 Ascanio leading the 11b fourth pitch

The book calls this pitch 11+. Not a chance; more like very fun 11b, and a lot easier than the 11d 3rd pitch.

Ian leading the 11d third pitch

Average Rating = 3.00/5 Ian leading the 11d third pitch

The book calls this pitch 11+ and is solid at the grade. The beautiful start is liebacked up to some cool stems up higher. The crux is either strenuous liebacking with bad feet down low, or a stem and lieback sequence ten feet higher. Either way they are hard but fun.

Ascanio at the 11- crux of Pitch 5

Average Rating = 3.12/5 Ascanio at the 11- crux of Pitch 5

This is a fun thin, delicate and reachy stemming crux. The moves are straight forward; good flexibily and footwork are key. Once the perfect finger corner is grasped its all over.

Brad Stewart - 2nd Pitch of Desert Solitaire

Average Rating = 0.00/5 Brad Stewart - 2nd Pitch of Desert Solitaire

Brad Stewart leading the second pitch of Desert Solitaire 5.9 A3+. A thin crack in a tight corner, Brad used 9 knifeblades to get through this pitch. To me, it seemed as though this was the most continuously difficult pitch on the route.

Danny, hooking on Pitch 5

Average Rating = 4.00/5 Danny, hooking on Pitch 5

The hook placements on this pitch seemed pretty secure - I've seen worse...
