Taken on 05/28. This girl gave everyone down at the coliseum an awesome show on this route. I'm not sure of her name but if anyone recognises her (or if you see yourself) please let me know.

Adam Whisthoff engages the first crux of Apollo Reed (5.12), Summersville Lake, West Virgnia. It was a piddly, rainy day and everything was wet, including the "Always Dry" DC memorial so we headed over the Coliseum to take burns on the the grossly overhaning (and dripping) Apollo Reed. Thankfully the holds are big enough that this route can be done bolt to bolt even when it is wet. The setup for this problem was a super-scareball. Hanging off one single bolt (and quite rusty I might add), but I think the photoset was worth the risk. Nikon D70 35mm F2.0 (White Balance - Cloudy)

A really strong climber, Mark P(?), testing out the moves on The Pod(13b). He planned to come back the next day and send after drying out one of the critical holds. I have no doubt he did just that. photo by novclimbs.

Matt works on Apollo Reed(13a), as I try to figure out how to use my new camera in complete awe. The whole Coliseum area is so impressive, maybe one day... photo by novclimbs.

"Apollo Reed" 5.13A. Summersville lake are of New River Gorge National Park, West Virginia. This is the 1st crux, though not the Redpoint crux. I have seen about 5 ways of doing this 1st crux. This happens to be my perferred sequence. Cole from North Carolina took this shot of me in April 2005.

Here's Kynan on the tricky start to Tabacco Road. That's up about 20 feet to a ledge, across and 10 more to the first clip. That's a long way down.

Meadow took this picture of Steve and me at the Coliseum at Summersville Lake. It was a cold and rainy July weekend, but we had a great time! Found some dry rock (miracle!).

This is Jason on one of his redpoint attempts on Apollo Reed in October of 2002. This move in particular gave him trouble until he changed his foot beta, which enabled him to send it with ease.

A view of the left most portion of the Coliseum at Summersville Lake, WV. Contrast with the low-water level photo previously posted. Route info.: Reckless Abandon climbs the right side of the visible face, starting from the small (10 feet) ledge barely visible in the lower right hand corner. Pretty tough to beat this amazing setting!
