Ever notice that when you take a picture of a slab route it never looks as steep as it really is? This route is much more vertical than the pics make it look.

Here I am carrying Alec up to the crag. Poor little guy gets a little nervous on the scree so I carried him. So that's approx 40 lbs in my pack anbd 45 lbs worth of boy. It felt like nothing though. Having in in front like that in a strange way, balanced me out.

Here is my son Alec hamming it up for the camera after a day of climbing in Clear Creek Canyon. Alec didn't climb but his brother did. Alec spent the day looking for bugs, bouldering around, rubbing rocks and sticks together trying to light a fire and flirting with the older women (7 year olds). Thanks for the photo ZOZO!

5.9 lead on Cats slab in clear creek canyon. 5.9+ finger crack about 3/4 the way up, can be lie backed or high steped. First part of the climb is moderate/easy 5.7 with large ledges. Top out is good slab climbing with a couple of large slopers. Good for new leaders getting into the .9s and .10s.
