on the last day of the trip, the weather finally cleared. Worth every minute.

When we did Sendero this January, we did not take that many photos; we were too engrossed in the act of climbing a beautiful, long, and sustained line. However, we did get this shot from the summit. David Potter of Smith Rock is looking at the register, I'm eating peanut butter, and Micah Jessup of Virginia is taking the photo. Although we did not do it in a day, and not all of us climbed every pitch, this was probably the best day of climbing I have ever had, with two ultra-solid, motivated partners. Words cannot describe this route.

It's hard to have a bad day when you wake up to this.

This picture was taken on our successful attemt to make the 4th ascent of "Paguvi" on the El Toro wall in Potrero Chico, MX. After countless pitches ranging from Off-width to Chimney, we came out onto the face to get this steller view of the "El Sendero Luminoso" spire summit.

Here's my partner Kirk at belay number????? We kinda lost count after a while. Get a load of those anchors! Kirk was an amazing partner who is a bold / skilled climber.

Here a pic of me on the summit of El Toro the following morning. That walk of was the last thing we wanted to do (5 hours thru cactus), but we knew there was beer and food waiting for us down there....

On a trip a couple years ago, I stayed at La Pagoda. It is closest to the park entrance, rooms are fine, pool was cool. I would stay there over the other places. Taken by sonso45 2001.

When we awoke on the morning of January the 5th it was to the sound of a helicopter. We knew that could only mean that the rumors that we had heard the night before were true. Jose Pereyra had taken a fatal fall on the 4th while attempting to claim a second assent of Las Auras. The only sound in the potrero that morning was the sound of the blades cutting through the air. Everyone there just looked at each other in stunned silence. Jose will be missed.
