5.8 route at intersection. Starts with a chimney into a hand crack into a large flake system and finaly a true J-Tree face. Good fun.

Uhhmmm, so a "classic" 5.7+ish...I dunno, but I definitely wasn't expecting a hand-over-hand traverse out to a heel hook during twenty-couple mile-per-hour winds with my last two pieces 15 plus feet behind me. To be honest, maybe it was the conditions but I was not "down" with this route.

This is just another picture I snapped off next to the Hidden Valley campground in Joshua Tree National Park. I took it while waiting for climbing partners to arrive for the days climbing.

My first climb at Jtree. Super fun. Also one of my very first trad lead. The traverse got my heart pumping a bit.

Me scrambling down from Overhang Bypass. This was an amazing climb. One of my favorite climbs I've done at J-Tree. I got to lead the overhang! Great holds, great pro, and great views. (5.7)

My first trip to J Tree. Barb watched the kids while Cole and I flew to Palm Springs to meet Soo. On this climb, I was in the middle. Soo led and Cole took the pic.

Slab face to the right of pitch 2 of Mike's Books, directly above the bolted anchor on the big ledge. The slab route goes up past two bolts, then either straight up or veering left to the last bolt of Mike's Books and finishing at the same bolted rap anchor. Topo Photo. 10 Apr 2005

J Tree is known for its sunsets, but what was really neat about this particular one was the way it seemed the clouds were streaming out from Intersection Rock.

Just past the crux of this somewhat intimidating route. Route eases up considerably after getting to ledge. A 5.8 crack leads to the ledge below Upper Right Ski Track.

The coolest thing about intersection rock is if even if you aren't in a climbing mood you can free the 5.3 and still do the 80 foot rappel.
